The Fun Farm

First of all, the place was beautiful! The lights on the buildings were magical! Troy was nice enough to help us late at night for a place to pull through with my class A and car on dolly just for electricity! It was cold and we were driving til we found something! Big area to camp for tents or other RVs and only the 15 amp for plug in but a delightful place! Bring the kids just for the sights! Troy was so nice and hung out in the cold to help me park! Great with communication and a heart to help!

My dogs and I really enjoyed the peaceful area and hiking around the pond. It was a great place for us to decompress after a stressful day at the dog show.

We stayed in a tent and really enjoyed our experience here. The site had electricity which made things extra convenient. At night there was a really nice light show that made the evenings feel special. We also loved seeing all the different animals around the property. It gave the stay a fun and unique touch. Overall it was a great mix of comfort and nature.

Night at the Fun Farm

They have a really nice property ( would be perfect for a family with kids). We just stayed 1 night as a stopover to break up a long trip. They were wonderful hosts, very friendly and kind. There is at least one 20 amp electric hookup available. Just a really lovely homestead kind of vibe.

Beautiful piece of property and lots of places to park. Having an electrical connection helped a lot! He built a funky little village that lights up at night and has pigs, goats and chickens. Very peaceful!

A fun place to camp!

We stopped by this lovely little property on our way back to Chicago from the East Coast. My son, dog and I just needed a place to stay for the night so we could hit the road fresh in the morning. Troy was extremely helpful getting us to find the place (it IS a little difficult as the address of the location takes you to a different road than where you actually should enter) and showing us around. We would have liked to have stayed longer to meet the animals and peruse, next time we are around!

This was an excellent stop on our cross country drive. Lots of cute stuff to look at, light show was very fun. I don’t mind paying for an electric hookup and a quiet spot for the night. Thank you for the last minute timing.

Camping with a twist

This place provides such a unique camping experience. If you don’t mind a communal fire pit, you will enjoy roughing it near the small pond and next to the little log cabin (which is used as an office but was completely empty during our stay). There’s plenty of places to explore and the pond looks like a great place to catch and release if that’s your thing. I braved the waters and jumped in due to the humidity, got scared of the plants that touched my feet and rushed out but I’m certain if your brave and hot enough you could find this pond surprisingly refreshing on a humid day. Both the kids and us enjoyed the light show in the evening. It was a delight. I also loved that the owner gives you all the privacy you could ask for but was def available quickly thru text or call if you needed anything.

We really enjoyed our stay -- such a whimsical, unique place just outside of the city. The property was completely fenced in and equipped with motion-activated lighting that would light your way through some of the darker areas at night. The portapotty was clean, and there was also a great little hand washing station set up next to it. Our 7 year old, who is autistic and only minimally verbal, thought he was in Abby's (from Sesame Street) magical wonderland and loved every minute of our stay there - from the giant mushrooms, to the pireateship, spaceship, and giant shoe. The nightly light show was also such an awesome, totally unexpected treat. We happened upon a mulberry tree on the property, and my son tried mulberries for the first time (and loved them). We also saw a big family of ducks on the pond and a couple turtles while we were there. Troy was an absolutely excellent host and we were so glad that we happened upon his hipcamp. It was refreshingly different in all the best and most unexpected of ways. If you're looking for something a little bit outside of the box, then I highly recommend.

Fun and Beautiful

We had a great time crashing here! We only stayed two nights unfortunately as we had a funeral to go to, but his many activities as extras looked really fun and if we had had more time we would have done some! It was quiet enough to sleep and the light show at night was fun for the kids! Just so you know, google took us to a front entrance, but the entrance is actually on a side street with nice wide gates. Dog friendly and beautiful

Camping on the farm

We loved our stay on the fun farm! There is plenty for kids to do. We fished, hiked the small trail, fed the animals, & ran around the huge property ! Troy responds quickly & clearly. We loved petting the kitties that are sometimes let out to wander. The little village is magical & lights up at night! Definately recommend for families looking for a private place to camp in the area.

I had a wonderful two night stay for work nearby. The overall experience was excellent and exceeded all my expectations! Troy is an amazing host. He checked in with me via text to make sure all needs were met. The grounds were serene and peaceful. On my next stay I will make use of more of the amenities. Oh, if allowed, I saw some monster cat fish in the pond so I'll definitely be bringing my fishing gear 😁

My Girl Scout troop had an amazing stay! Troy was an awesome host. He took every opportunity to educate the girls about the land they were on and hosted an acting workshop for them. The girls soaked up the magical environment and we can’t wait to go back!!
