We now have 3 buildings for rent. The Cozy Camping Cottage, the Camping Cabin and the newest addition is our A-frame which is the most secluded spot on the land. - Voted best Hipcamp in Indiana to visit for 6 years. - Listed on Rachael Ray Magazine's "8 of America's Coolest Campgrounds" We offer a "Camping Cabin", The "Cozy Camping Cottage" or tent camping in Black Walnut Grove, in an open field, in the woods, or a shady grove. We like to interact with people or you can keep to yourself and have a quiet getaway in the woods. Sorry, but the tree house isn't available to rent since it is my home. I may rent it out in the future. Also in progress is the "Dome" We are on a solar powered, off the grid 30 acre homestead that has 24 acres of wooded land and 6 acres of groomed land. Come explore our land and relax in the "Tree Web", see the 2 story tree house that I live in, have fun on the tire swing, or just sit and enjoy all that nature has to offer. You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end). We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people. We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Also be aware that we have 2 friendly dogs on the land that roam freely. - 3.5 miles to Marengo Cave - 7 miles to the Blue River (canoes, rafting and swimming) - 30 minutes to Patoka Lake - 37 miles west of Louisville - 13 miles north of Interstate 64

Black Walnut Grove at Happy Hollow
Total eclipse of work life!
Amazing campground & an amazing host! We came on Sat for the Monday eclipse & had a great spot. Easy to get to fun hikes in the area - Kerry recommend Hemlock Cliffs (it was great!!) + trails around Pakota Lake (check out the Brewery & the pizza place about 2 min away!) ++ it’s lovely to even just hike around the campground. Tons of nice people (inc Kerry the host!) & sweet dogs running around, highly recommend!!

Black Walnut Grove at Happy Hollow
Amazing location and Host
Upon arrival Kerry greeted us personally and gave an overview of the amazing grounds he has built. He has a tranquil oasis tucked between two hillsides with creative places to stay as well as perfect shaded tent sites. If you’re looking for a place to camp in or around Marengo, I’d recommend Kerry’s place.

Cozy Camping Cottage
Very relaxing getaway
I had an awesome time staying at the cottage for a night last week! I don’t think anyone was staying in the other cabin that is offered as an option, but it was far enough away that I think anyone staying there would have plenty of privacy, if that’s something important to you. The owner, Kerry, was a friendly and helpful host, he has two dogs on the property and they are cute and sweet. This spot was perfect for the kind of little getaway I wanted. There is a nearby outhouse, a firepit, a picnic table, and plenty of trees to hang a hammock. The cottage itself was as cozy as described. I will say it did not feel very protected from the cold (it was in the 30s that night I think) but it wasn’t described to be, so I packed many blankets and was comfortable enough. Felt great during the warmer hours of the day, would probably feel perfect in summer. The area is beautiful and I enjoyed swinging in my hammock and making some nature sketches during the day. The sky is very clear of light pollution and I had a great view of the moon and stars through my telescope after it got dark and had a great time stargazing and making hotdogs over the fire. The host offers the option to purchase firewood in advance when booking for a very reasonable price. All in all, I would highly recommend it. I went alone because I was wanting a solo trip but no doubt this would make a great spot for a romantic getaway or small family trip. I hope I get the chance to return here at some point!

Kerry was a fantastic, knowledgeable host! The property was well kept, and the site we had had plenty of room for our needs. I would highly recommend Kerry and his property!
