Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. Be near the park, but feel that complete privacy. These sites are very spaced out from each other and are large. No need to cram together! Explore the mines and hang out on our Groveland, California ranch! We have 824 acres on a beautiful cattle ranch with two small ponds. On our property, you'll find frogs, turtles, oak trees, pine trees and stunning views of Yosemite. We have several campsites to choose from including RV camping, tent camping, and a glamping tent. Pets are welcome. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Potable water and toilet are available onsite. There's a golf course less than a mile away. We are also very close to town. In just a few minutes, you can drive to our local grocery store and pizza parlour. We are a 10-minute drive to Pine Mountain Lake. Beautiful Pine Mountain Lake offers golfing, dining, horseback riding, water sports and an airport. When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization, but still close to everything you need. It is incredibly peaceful! This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds. Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

Bridgeport Reservoir is a lake at the lower end of Bridgeport Valley in Mono County, California. Its earth-filled dam was constructed in 1923 by the Walker River Irrigation District, along the East Walker River. The campground and marina was built I-don't-know-how-long ago, but it sure is nice! About Us: Welcome to Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground. Join us for the classic camping and fishing experience with unique views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Within the Toiyabe National Forest, Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground is conveniently located near two distinct hot spring areas. A true angler's paradise, the Reservoir has excellent trout fishing from spring through fall and is close by to multiple rivers for incredible fly fishing. A 35 minute drive on highway 120 will take you to the Tioga Pass Gate of Yosemite National Park. This gate is a great start to several different areas inside of the park that you may want to visit beyond that gate. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town. Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal. Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

We absolutely loved camping here! The land was beautiful and we felt super safe and comfortable the entire time. My girlfriend was especially obsessed with the cows and loved seeing them around the property. John was super welcoming and really interesting to talk to. He’s lived a pretty interesting life and we really enjoyed getting to chat with him. We brought our puppy Theo with us and he had the best time running around and exploring the land. It was also really nice having pretty much everything we needed already on site. And the showers were amazing, especially after being outside all day. Overall we had a really great time here and would definitely come back!

The campground is beautiful and is close to a lot of the Redwood Forest experiences. We loved the mini-golf course and the walking trail. There is a game from which we didn't check out, and a nice looking playground. Patrick and Maya were kind and we didn't have any issues. We stayed in the Puma. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen and the other was a kids bunk room, could maybe fit 2-3 kids. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed, including a microwave and plates/cups/pots etc. The RV sites were kind of close together but I still felt like I had some privacy. I would highly recommend this as an option if you are wanting to check out the redwoods. There are cabins, RVs, RV sites, and tent sites available. Decent wifi too!

Songdog Ranch is one of my favorite places to be. It is close enough to the city to not feel completely isolated, but far enough to do the best stargazing you have done in your life. My mom is not a camper and she was already talking about coming back. My dad wants to try the larger cabin and my 12 year old son loves it here. It's hard to get him interested in something that does not have wifi. The mattresses in the glabin were INSANELY COMFORTABLE. I will come back to this beautiful place.

The history and Vicki’s stories are what put the magical into the Magical Nate Harrison Ranch ✨We look forward to visiting again and trying out multiple stays as there are lots to pick from 🙌🌲🏠🏕️ Favorite views were on the east side of the property looking at the wall of tall pines from the gully to the neighboring peak. The well water is delicious. Don’t bother with bringing jugs of water you will be stoked on the quality.

A lovely little (air-conditioned!) cabin on some beautiful creekside property nestled in nature—with a comfy bed. If you want to get away from the city and spend a night in nature without wrestling with a tent or forgoing plumbing, I highly recommend this spot! (There is access to a surprisingly well appointed—and chic—bathroom with a spacious shower. Also a quaint outdoor kitchen area with refrigerators.) Host Laura could not have been friendlier. My only suggestion would be a little more outdoor lighting in the public areas. But this is a beautiful location I would go to again.

Weekend Trip to Flyte and Sparrow natural interlude

Stunning off grid property! Very communicative host when questions arose. As we drove out to the property, a fire started on a mountain nearby and our host assured us that we were going to be safe. Had a really cool opportunity to watch first responders fight the fire and even had a fire helicopter coming to pick up water out of the lake behind the property owners house. Stayed in the Tiny Blue and it was comfortable, but given the time of year, there wasn’t much of a breeze at night, so it did get extremely hot inside even with the windows open. Had access to a tiny kitchen and compost toilet right next to our site. We were next to a beautiful pond with a nice walking trail going around it. Saw all kinds of birds (lots of quail) muskrats, frogs, dragonflies. Very safe and welcoming place!

I stay here everything I visit my daughter. Great location, easy access to Cal Poly Humbolt. Cabins are all great, comfortable beds, clean linens (bedding and towels) provided at no extra fee (the stated $20 extra for linens on the site is a glitch). Great place if you're travelling with pets- they have a closed space for dogs to run. Stayed there 5 or so times in the last year and I know there have been upgrades to cabins- if you're with a dog that can open doors, stay in a rustic cabin, there's no way a dog can open the door while you're relaxing on the porch h swing or at the site's picnic table and fire pit.

An amazing stay as always at Baby Banana Slug, I finished my “tour” of the four cabins and finally stayed at the Redwood Retreat. I can confirm that the stay in Mendocino County felt much too short, and that Nathan as always remain an impeccable host who offered a warm welcome for me, my dog and family. Having a full (well-equipped) kitchen, full bath and wood burning stove (stocked with wood) in the Redwood Retreat cabin make this the ultimate favorite for future travels with the family. The cabin was clean and cozy with many special touches that make this place shine.

Words are not easy to find when describing the Eagles Nest treehouse . My husband and I agree that it is something to experience . Photos and words don’t do it justice . Magical comes close Peaceful and tranquil is what you feel being there. Highly recommended for an escape even just for one night . John & Lesley have a wonderful place to share , they are lovely hosts.

2 nights at Baby Banana Slug Farm

This is such a cute spot to spend a few nights in the woods - everything you need, including a heater and twinkly lights. The host and other guests were all very friendly, and I loved how easy it was to drive to the coast and Mendocino.
