Our riverside retreat is a beautiful 3 acre parcel located on the North Branch Pentwater River. It is located in a small neighborhood with houses that are spread out with several acres per house, with forest on the other side of the river. It is quiet, secluded, and a perfect oasis to use as a launchpad for exploring the Pentwater/Mears/Hart/Ludington area.Welcome to our wonderful campsite on the North Branch Pentwater River. When you stay with us, you will be camping right next to the water, so close that you can hear the water trickling by as you drift off for a great nights sleep. If you're lucky, you may stumble upon a doe and her fawns foraging in the grass in the early morning, experience the multitude of bird life that calls the banks of the North Branch their home, catch a glimpse of a fox making it's way through the forest, or hear the sounds of the screech owl and the coyotes off in the distance at night. Our land and surrounding area is teaming with wildlife and is an incredible gem in Oceana County. You cannot experience anything like this amidst the crowds at the local state parks and campgrounds. You must experience it for yourself to truly appreciate it! The campsite is a short walk down hilly terrain and through a short trail. You will need to pack your things in, so travel lightly! If we are available, we will help you to pack in your camping gear.
Please note that we do have a rooster and he likes to crow in the mornings, as well as sporadically throughout the day. He is audible from the campsite and, as roosters, do, he starts early in the morning. Our coop and chicken run is off in the distance, so it's a little more faint, but we want everyone to know so it doesn't spoil your stay and you can make your choice before booking. It is part of the ambience and soundscape of our countryside location!

About your hosts: Your hosts are Nancy and Jeremy. We are Michigan natives and can help guide you to all there is to see and do in West Michigan and the surrounding area! We have spent the last ten years exploring the country and the world living in camper vans, out of backpacks and suitcases, and staying in local guesthouses and AirBnB's whenever possible. We moved to this area a few years ago after spending many years vacationing here with family. We are working hard to transform our land into a permaculture and organic food paradise, and currently have a large garden and a flock of free ranging chickens. We feel blessed to call this area our home, and are delighted so share this special place with others. If you catch us on one of our free days, we may even be able to take you on a nature walk in the woods near our area or kayaking on a local lake or river!
Special Rules: This land is our home and sanctuary. Please respect it as if it were your own. Our land is not a place for a loud party atmosphere, and we ask that you respect the quiet and solitude here. We also live in a residential neighborhood. Everyone has a few acres of land and it is quite secluded and private, but we still ask that you respect our neighbors.
-Please observe quiet hours after 10 PM -No Pets -Please place trash in provided bin and food scraps in provided compost bin. This will provide food scraps for our chickens that they absolutely love, and nutrition for our gardens, as well as deter wildlife from entering your space! -Please put out all campfires when not attended. A bucket for water will be provided -No ATV's, Quads, Side by Side's, Dirt Bikes, etc. use on our land -Please use the trails that are currently existing. Do not cut new trails, remove vegetation, etc. -The North Branch Pentwater River is a protected wildlife habitat and designated trout stream in our area. Due to this, it has special rules. Please respect the vegetation and do not remove anything from the river, move or cut stumps/fallen trees/etc.
Special notes: Unfortunately, our campsite is not handicap accessible and is not ideal for people who can not traverse hilly terrain. There is a path going down the hill consisting of loose sand and gravel, as well as hiking through a narrow pathway next to the river to get to the campsite.
