Rob’s place is such a perfect getaway from the city. He’s genuinely friendly and easy to talk to, and made the whole stay feel really comfortable. I’d been wanting to visit for over two years, and finally got the chance to stay at his cabin.
The gardens and scenery are beautiful, and the little decorations scattered around the property are gorgeous!
Definitely take time to see the main house. It’s filled with all kinds of interesting trinkets he’s collected. Walking through the hallway lined with his art and getting to see him painting in his studio was really cool!
Looking forward to coming back!

The directions Robert gave guided us well. The house grounds had beautiful gardens and paths. Upon arrival, Robert's friend greeted us, told us Robert is a full-time artist and offered to let us tour the house and studio the next day. We were only interested in a secluded nature experience, so we followed them down the path that led to our campsite. They took us as far as the creek and pointed over a two foot wide wooden plank bridge, telling us our site was across it and up a few more minutes along a trail. The bridge wobbled as we walked across, and the trail past the bridge was overgrown with raspberry bushes. Our site had a bit of trash on the ground, but we were happy to find a picnic table with benches which we hadn't known it would have. Robert's friend kindly allowed us to pull our car into the driveway of the unoccupied teepee site for temporary unloading. I was glad the teepee was not rented because it turned out to be visible from our site. The bathrooms were located right by the house and were very clean, though one was missing toilet paper, which they replaced in the morning. To avoid being around other people, we would have preferred to use the outhouse, but we never did find it. The best part was the exquisite, perfect temperature creek, which we walked in for as long as we could. I had hoped to be able to hear it from the tent, but we couldn't. We were grateful that Robert's friend never bothered us during our stay and we had our solitary nature experience.

This place is truly so special. My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Site 1 (Secluded Wildlife Paradise) and it was awesome. Robert was super nice, his home is absolutely gorgeous and he was so welcoming. The bathroom facilities were good too, if you’re used to camping without a bathroom like we are, the option of even having a warm shower is awesome! Truly beautiful property, and felt very safe at all times when we were camping there. It was a great weekend!

We stayed in the courtyard... bit more glamping. Had a fun time mingling in communal areas. Partaked in the making of a documentary. Stunning artwork. The house is one artist's collection of things from their travels. The landscaping is incredible.

One heck of a camping spot! We spent the first day in the guesthouse and then moved to a campsite when our larger group “26 people” showed up. We fit no problem and had equal amounts of privacy and engagement with the rest of the other guests. The property has a magic about it and there’s something new to discover around every bend. Rob was a great host and we definitely hope to make this an annual trip.

Beautiful Secluded forest site
Our trip to Lynx Run was fantastic, and far surpassed our expectations. Beautiful property, private campsite, wonderful hospitality, many amenities, and great people.
10 of us stayed at the Beautiful Secluded Forest site for 8 nights. Rob's land is quite secluded, and this site feels private from the rest of the property. You cross the creek the get to this site. We spent many hours hanging out at the bridge or putting camp chairs in the crystal clear creek.
Rob is very generous, conscientious, a wonderful host. We cooked most of our dinners in the kitchen at the main house and in doing so we made acquaintance with Rob and many of the guests. We also spent time reading and relaxing in the library. It was very nice to keep ingredients in the refrigerator as opposed to a cooler at the campsite. Bathrooms were clean and very welcome after a few days in a tent.
The flora on property is a bit more grown-over than in the photos, but I'm sure that's also due to the time of year we went. My one gripe being the state of the trail to our site, it was rather verdant at first. But this was only a minor inconvenience.
Again, the trip exceeded expectations. Rob's generosity in sharing his land and facilities is second to none. Would absolutely recommend a stay at Lynx Run!

The overall experience at Lynx Run far exceeded our expectations. It matched the description and then some. Rob was gracious and welcoming. I will always cherish sharing the one of a kind experience with my daughter.

Absolutely over the top! Rob's place is second to none. He is beyond a welcoming host, the artwork is jaw dropping, the library will take your breath away. The land is stunning. We camped at the most secluded spot, it was a short walk down a small trail with a little bridge over the stream, it was everything we could have asked for and more. We only stayed one night, but we will be back, we absolutely can't not go back...

Secluded Wildlife Paradise
This eclectic place is way off the beaten path. The main compound has toilets and showers and other shared facilities. We enjoyed the chickens and listening to the whippoorwills and coyotes in the distance. There is a lovely little stream that runs past some of the campsites. Our site was quiet and private with great trees for hanging our hammocks. There was a picnic table. The staff and other guests were very pleasant and helpful. It is a long and hilly pedal from the White Pine Trail, but worth the trip.

We had a wonderful stay here for 4th of July weekend. Needed to get out of the city and away from the firework with our dog. They were still audible but this place is pretty remote and it took the edge off.
Otherwise phenomenal. Robert was a gracious host and seems like he's really figured it out. We stayed in the cabin and it was extremely comfortable. Trails around the property were beautiful. Had a lovely time.

Such beautiful energy at Roberts land and what an amazing place to call home. My dog and I had a lovely time walking on the paths and up the seasonal road, wandering the abundant gardens and cooling off in the creek.

This campsite is incredible! Fit 27 people with plenty of space plus it’s beautiful. Rob is a great host, super friendly and welcoming. He let us explore his library and art gallery and gave us good recommendations for places to go. Definitely recommend staying here!

Secluded Forest with field edge
We had the most incredible weekend at Rob’s place. His property is like something out of a dream- full of wildflowers, chickens and cats roaming freely, a peaceful library, and his amazing art. Our campsite was very private but we always felt welcome at the main house, too. From the moment we arrived, Rob made us feel at home. He went above and beyond to share his space with us. We are blown away by his generosity in opening his home to all of his guests, showing us his creative world, and even having dinner one night with us one night, which made the experience feel so personal and special.
The property is absolutely beautiful. It’s a perfect blend of art, nature, and thoughtful design. Waking up to birdsong, wandering the gardens, and chatting with Rob about life and creativity made this one of our most memorable camping experiences ever.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, inspiring, and truly unique campsite in Michigan, this is it. Can’t wait to come back!

Secluded Wildlife Paradise
I stayed at the Secluded Paradise. It was an easy pull up location and I had a tent that sleeps 8 with lots of room for another tent or two if stacked up right. There was a nice sprawling rope hammock provided. Now for the views... OH MY GOSH!! Gorgeous!! This site was on top edge of the valley with a small trail down to creek on both sides. Down one side is a little stone bench to sit and admire (lose your self in the ambience) of the babbling waters. Nice clear shallow waters to wade in gently or sit and cool off in. Made more magical at night as the fireflys come out to dance. I will be visiting again (wife already wants to see the fall colors!) Now the bathrooms were 3 minute casual walk up the driveway to the main house. There is a little pond (bullfrogs/turtles) and the main courtyard of flowers/plants. Nice little flush toilets with shower and sinks makes it feel a little bit of an escape from reality with convience. Stove/kitchen access was offered but wheres the fun of not cooking on the fire. Main house had a cool collection of oddities and animal bones, feather/fur or head mounts. Very friendly host and wonderful interactions with anyone whos path I/we crossed. The chickens were free range but I never saw them come to my campsite but you would see/hear them and the cat was adorable and an excellent hunter (saw him catch a small rodent in the wild).

Wilderness Stream Magic
This was a truly magical and wonderful place. We stayed in a tent right by a stream that my son could have played in forever. We loved walking the grounds and seeing all the love and work that has been put into turning it into a literal wonder land. Everywhere you looked there was something to discover, explore, ot just admire. Truly could not have asked for anything better

Rob is a friendly host with an AMAZING property! The cabin and main house are both fabulously decorated with antiques and unique finds that Rob has curated from his travels around the world, as well as an awesome art collection that includes many of his own pieces. His property also includes a wonderful rustic trail through the woods that is perfect for a long walk. Afterwards, when renting the cabin, you can relax with the free-range chickens around your own private fire pit. We also enjoyed cooking at the cabin and having access to the main house kitchen for doing dishes. We HIGHLY recommend this property and will definitely return!

Rob is a fantastic host! The land is BEAUTIFUL. The house is BEAUTIFUL. The ARTWORK was INCREDIBLE. A really unique stay, we felt welcome, safe, relaxed and surprisingly very inspired! From the artwork itself to the trails he has marked out on the property to the landscaping and the library, all of it. Waking up to birds chirping and chickens crowing was so refreshing. We left feeling rejuvenated and inspired. Absolutely would recommend to everyone and we hope to be back soon again. ❤️

My friend Kamie and I were bikpacking from Croton, and this was the closest Hipcamp to the end of our route for the day. It required an additional 5 miles of pedaling off course, but it is off some beautiful back roads down a quiet seasonal road away from traffic and noise. The grounds are gorgeous with a creek running through it, plentiful trees, and Robert's gardens. Robert was a very gracious host and responded promptly to any questions we had. There are two indoor bathrooms with showers available which is a nice feature when camping. There is also running water safe for drinking. The campsites have great views and firepits. There are also a couple of cabins and indoor lodging available for those who do not want to sleep outside. If you are in the area and want a quiet, safe place to camp, come check out Lynx Run!

We loved tent camping here! The weather wasn't great during our stay but the beautiful grounds we were able to explore, the free roaming chickens and the comfortable setting made us forget about the cloudy skies and on off rain. Great adventure! Would stay here again!

We had a blast tent camping at Lynx Run. It was so peaceful. We heard whippoorwills, wood thrush, turkeys, owls, grouse drumming. Such a beautiful spot in the woods with a trout stream running through it. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Love that he shares his home and land with all of us so that we can enjoy it as well. His home is very cool and like a museum!

Rob's retreat was a magical wilderness wonderland. There was so much to enjoy, from trails to the fascinating library to themed gardens. It was a real off-the-grid treat! Be prepared for no water or electricity, and time to unplug. This place is for those who prefer to connect, enjoy unique experiences, and don't mind a rustic stay. Rob is a wonderful host and a fascinating human being. Be prepared to sleep soundly and be awoken by the rooster's crow! So much to discover!

We had a great stay in Rob’s rustic cabin! The incredible property and the chance to see his library were worth the trip alone! The fall colors were stunning, I wish we had booked another night to explore more of the property. We met several kind folks who were also staying on the property and overall loved the laid back vibes of the company Lynx Run attracts. The wood burning stove was a super cool feature to test out but I’m not sure my sensitive lungs could handle another night in the cabin, there was smoke that hung out when the fire died down. (We aren’t experts so it could have been user error, but I think the flue swings open and closed very easily). We’d love to visit again at one of the camping sites!

Lynx Run is gorgeous, vibrant, and shows how much love and passion that Rob puts into the land and the experience here. Everyone should check out his art and the Library collection if they have a chance! Immaculate vibes.
Our particular campsite had plenty of space for multiple structures & car. It's in far sight of the cabin, but very private. The merry band of chickens and the cat are likely to walk through the site, so that’s important to keep in mind if bringing a dog. We loved the site so much and would pick it again.
The property has lots of benches/good little places to sit and enjoy the views and sounds of nature, plus some trails. Any trails that don't directly lead to a campsite aren’t really clear, and you may want to ask to be shown where to wander. We did enjoy some off-trail traipsing in the forest which was a delight.
There are two clean and well stocked bathrooms with big showers and flush toilets and sinks. They're not heated but do have hot water. We advise you to leave them vented/screen door open so that moisture from showers can actually dry out.
Rob was so generous and kind to let us wash our camp dishes in his sink and fill up water there as well. Best tasting well water ever.
The road into the property might be difficult for low riding cars, especially if there has been rain. Google maps led us the wrong direction, but Waze got it right, so I recommend navigating to the intersection mentioned in the arrival directions and going from there!
