We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. Knowing that you chose our resort to support, means a lot to our Superior Times and Resort family team. We truly appreciate your loyalty and give special thanks to our returning customers. Cabins ARE SMOKE FREE and may not be used as kennels so please keep pets off furnature and don't leave them inside when you are gone. You must bring your own queen sheet set. Steam cleaning the mattress will be an extra charge. Swimming beach is available in Lowell a few miles away. Fishing rivers and lakes are also in the area. (live bait in Saranac) Woods site and Open Area have a few different locations you can choose from. If woods or open shows booked already, please contact me. This is a very delicate area near a local watershed source, Deer Creek, wetlands on property, and also fruit tree farm in it's early stages, organic strawberries, and organic raspberries growing as well. Bear Tree Homestead is nestled among the cliffs and ravines which drains the south face of Hogback Mountain located in Marquette Township Michigan. Hogback Mountain is one of the larger rock formations in the Huron Range, a surprisingly rugged, and diverse region of low mountains carved by glaciers. Each cabin is hand-built of log and stone using traditional Scandinavian building tools and techniques. The cabins have access to the pond, use of the canoe, a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and privy. Inside the cabins is a functional kitchen with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, so you can prepare meals onsite. Cabins also have table and chairs as well soft chairs/sofa sitting area, bookshelves with a variety of books, board games and puzzles, and covered porch in case of rain. Our buildings, gardens, and pastures are integrated into the forested landscape and are not your typical homestead. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, collect fresh eggs (when they are laying), lay in the hammock, listen to the sounds of nature and the barnyard or take an adventure hike, bike ride, snowshoe, or ski right out the door.  One of the most wonderful things we have to offer is the accessibility to thousands of protected acres surrounding us and the trails that bisect them. The property is on the North Country Trail, just over a Noquemanon Trail Network Forestville trailhead where access to year round recreation awaits. Hogback Mountain is just up the trail from the cabin with spectacular views of forest, mountains and lake superior. We are located 8 miles from downtown Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where there are many great restaurants, shops, and brewpubs. However, once you drive into Bear Tree Homestead and settle in you will not want to leave.

Weekend Trip to Lost Nations Cowboy Town And Cabins

Cowboy Town is a unique experience full of charm! The cabins are awesome, the theme decor in the whole place is amazing. The beds are cozy, the outdoor shower was cool, and you cant beat a flush toilet when it comes to camping! Unfortunately we had some strong storms and alot of rain during our stay. Id love to come back and get into the trails and spend more time around the fire. Holly is a great host and has a one of a kind place.

4 nights at Bear Lake Meets da Yellow Dog

The land is beautiful and the cabin was very cozy. The rustic setup was nice for enjoying the silence and bird songs. Right next to two bodies of water, the Yellow Dog River great for wading and the hosts provide kayaks and a canoe on Bear Lake for free! Amenities (propane, firewood) reasonably priced. Great location with hiking opportunities around, our favorites were Yellow Dog Falls and Thomas Rock. Big bay is closeby town with a great ice cream parlor and an extensive beach on Lake Superior with views of the cliffs to the west. The host is very kind and respectful and has a lot of knowledge about the land and nearby destinations. Access road is driveable for most cars, no offroad/4x4 needed. Would absolutely recommend for anyone wanting a relaxing stay in the woods.

We had an amazing stay at Lil Cabin! Ed was an incredible host—friendly, welcoming, and quick to help with anything we needed. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we could have asked for. It was very accommodating both inside and outside, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. You can tell a lot of care has gone into the property. This was by far our favorite stay yet, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

My husband's and I's 4th year here and are already planning a fall trip back! It's the perfect spot for a walk thru nature and a good book by the fire. Quite and relaxing.

Orchard cabin is a beautiful cabin in the woods surrounded by sounds and smells only nature can provide. So serene, so inviting; the inside of the cabin was thoughtfully laid out to provide most of the amenities of home, with unique old world touches. My crew and I had a great time playing cards against humanity and Pictionary until the late hours of the night both nights we were there. We were able to experience the sauna during our stay and it felt great. I’ve been getting over a cold so this helped so much. Jill was a great host and always answered my messages. I would highly recommend orchard cabin or any of the other cabins/campsites she hosts. You will enjoy it!

3 nights at Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

Two of us stayed in the Lil Cabin. The cabin feels very private. I barely saw Ed or the other people staying on the property and I didn't see them at all from the actual cabin. The beds are more comfortable than you would expect for folding beds. He provided plenty of water. The port a potty was the nicest I've ever been in. It's still a port a potty but it was clean and had good toilet paper. The shower is freezing cold of course but it gets the job done. I would stay here again if I was in the area. It's a good homebase for other adventures and a good spot for a chill weekend of solitude

Susan was very helpful and kind. The Riverbend cabin was lovely with counter space to help food prep. Close to the pit toilet. The river is refreshing and the property is peaceful. I loved hearing the birds chirp all day.

Weekend Trip to Lost Nations Cowboy Town And Cabins

We stayed in a cabin while at “Cowboy town.” It was great and the coolest campsite I’ve ever seen! There are 3-4 cabins to stay in, along with places to tent camp. The bathroom, full kitchen, and shower are all meant to be shared. Holly provided towels, TP, hand soap, pots pans, ETC! There are 4 horses to pet and hangout with. My girlfriend couldn’t get enough of the horses. It’s a very secluded area. No city lights, no sirens. We fished the pond and caught plenty of bass. Holly mentioned they have hosted weddings, birthdays, and other get togethers. So, whether it’s 2 of you, or a group, this is likely the perfect “Glamping” site for you. I would return in a heartbeat, and even stay in a tent if necessary!

Ed and Pat created a truly amazing space to connect with nature and get away for a night. We enjoyed cooking steaks and veggies on the fire pit and being able to relax to the sounds of critters and wind thru the trees. Haven’t slept that good in a while with the windows open and light breeze. Worth the trip.

Art & Kat were exceptional hosts. There were several severe storms the night before we arrived. We had no power from Saturday at 3 P.M. till Sun at 5:50 P.M. Kat & Art were helpful in every way possible. The Cabin was clean and the relaxation time was needed.

5 nights at Bear Tree Homestead

The Pond Cabin was exactly what we hoped for - a peaceful place to disappear into the woods for a week. What impressed us most was how thoughtfully everything was prepared. We arrived expecting to rely heavily on our own camping gear and supplies, but we hardly needed any of it. The cabin was exceptionally well stocked with cookware, utensils, fire-starting supplies, lighting, and countless small details that made our stay comfortable and stress-free. The loving care and thoughtfulness that went in to making it feel like a real home was so much appreciated. The setting is beautiful. We spent our days exploring local waterfalls and forests, and took day trips out to Pictured Rocks and Au Sable, all to return each evening to a warm fire, visiting hummingbirds, and the quiet of the woods. It struck a perfect balance between feeling secluded and feeling cared for. Jill and Nick were welcoming, communicative, and thoughtful throughout our stay. We tend to be fairly self-sufficient travelers who enjoy keeping to ourselves, and they were available whenever needed while still allowing the space to feel like our own private retreat. For anyone looking to unplug, slow down, and spend time immersed in nature, this place is something special. We can't wait to return.
