Our 45 site campground with level lakefront, pull-thru and rustic sites, has 20/30/50 amp electric, fire ring and picnic table on each site. There is a disposal station, centralized water, and extremely clean outhouses. We do not have flush toilets or showers.
We have an expansive 700 feet of lake frontage with grassy beach, buoyed swimming area, covered lakefront pavilion, boat launch, beach volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and walking trails.

Only 30 minutes east of Grand Rapids, this property was established as a Youth Camp for 15 years is now a private event venue and campground, so it has nice amenities like FULL restrooms, a picnic shelter, and even a few small cabins that can be rented.
Cabins ARE SMOKE FREE and may not be used as kennels so please keep pets off furnature and don't leave them inside when you are gone. You must bring your own queen sheet set. Steam cleaning the mattress will be an extra charge.
Swimming beach is available in Lowell a few miles away.
Fishing rivers and lakes are also in the area. (live bait in Saranac)

The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire. Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. This property was once part of an 80 acre farm. It has now grown into a mature forest with deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, many types of songbirds and most recently a family of sandhill cranes. Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property.
No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property.
As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest.
We provide linens, towels, and cookware. There is a grill outside and a microwave and oven inside along with a coffee maker and mini fridge.

The south half s home to 8 charcoal kilns which employed a community prior to ownership. The mountain is approximately 1.8 billion years old.

This campground has 2 tent sites at the western base of Hogback Mountain.
Site 1, The Falls Site, is located on a spring fed stream.
The hike from parking to tent site is 1/4 mile on a well-marked hilly path.
Campers can park at the main property on County Road HD or on the Garden Road, and will need to pack supplies to their site.
Site 2, The Garden Site, is 50 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site.
Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, is a century old hunting cabin with 2 cots on the main floor and 2 singles in the loft. Site 3 includes an outhouse and sauna.
All sites have a picnic table, firepit and outhouse.
Campers are responsible for removal of all other waste.
The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended.
These isolated sites are beautiful and rustic and nestled in the midst of the Noquemanon Trail Network (cross country skiing and mountain biking) and North Country Trails and are approximately 2 miles from Lake Superior, Harlow Lake and Dead River.
4 kayaks/paddles/life vests and a 12 foot boat are available for camper use. First come, first serve. You transport.

Sheila was a fantastic host and even set up balloons and chocolate for our celebration which was so sweet! The site was easy to find and was just as described! We also really loved the short trail with positive messages! It was such a cozy stay and made the first leg of our anniversary trip so meaningful! Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and cozy getaway!

the host greeted me on arrival gave me a tour and explained everything available to use. the host was always asking if i needed anything. they are onsite working they keep there distance to give you your privacy. the cabin was great clean quiet and a great view. very nice covered porch over looking horses. the cowboy town was a neat thing to walk around. alot of trails to explore on site. the stream was a great place to cool off. this is a great place to stay and relax. a great location to unplugged and relax.

This was an excellent campsite. My fiance and I stayed in a cabin, which was super clean, and also had Wifi and even a TV. The bath houses are very clean, as other reviewers commented, and the owners were helpful and communicative. There's also a little store on site with coffee which was nice. Would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to the UP!

We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. My son, daughter in law and grandbaby enjoyed hours watching the turtles and fish, walking the trails and meeting the farm animals while learning about Elysiums history. Will always remember morning coffee on the porch, baby's first campfire and playing Frisbee behind the cabin. We hope to return next year!

1 night at Life Adventures
This little cabin was perfect for me. I slept on the futon sofa inside and was able to use the desk as a mini office to get some work done. The microwave inside helped simplify meals. It was also a beautiful and safe evening and the morning sun was beautiful on the field. Luke came to hang out and the firewood is in blue barrels off by the other cabin. Very safe.
