Having camped in 20+ states and many more campgrounds, this one is... unique.
Views from lake-front sites are nice. The location is very quiet and peaceful, especially when the power boats and jet skis aren't running. You can also launch your boat onsite. Almost not worth mentioning is a train track not too far away; we barely noticed it. Overall, the vibe is super chill and the lake activity is not bothersome.
Seasonal campers were nice, welcoming and helpful. A few younger kids / grandkids were running around having fun; really a great place to let kids run feral.
On the other hand, “you get what you pay for”. There are basically zero “amenities", including no firewood available. There are two his/hers pit toilets, and a lakefront covered picnic area. And a boat launch. That's about it.
Each site only has electricity. There's a dump station in a central location, and several shared long-hose stations with runs to reach just about anywhere. The water has a lot of "minerals", tinted just a bit brownish. Not dirty or gross just obviously well water.
Knowing what I know now would I come back? Maybe. It wasn't bad or great, but it worked out ok for us despite being more rustic than we prefer. With minimal expectations you won't be disappointed.
The view of the lake is the reason to camp here. Everything else a distant second needing updating, which make sites cost more and not jive with the old school setting.
It works best if you like a lake view and need little else
I really enjoyed my stay at Pickerel Lakeside Campground! I stayed at Site 1, which had both 30A and 50A electrical service. There are no water or sewer hookups at the site, but potable water and a dump station are available at the campground.
The site is not a concrete pad, but I found it to be reasonably level and had no trouble getting set up. The absolute highlight was the incredible view of the lake — it made the site well worth it!
The campground has pit toilets but no showers. Trash needs to be taken to one of two designated receptacles, both of which were within a reasonable distance from the site.
The hosts were very nice, and the campground was a great place to relax and enjoy the lake. I camped during the week (Weds-Fri). Let’s are welcome, but must be on a lead/leash at all times. I would definitely stay here again!

Very clean cabin and easily accessible. Firepit and dock were close by and easy to use.
EVERYTHING!!! Only thing that went wrong was we had to leave to come home 😭 This was the most amazing stay! It was our first mother daughter vacation and it went absolutely phenomenal!!! Kat and Art are two of the most amazing people! They r fun to talk to and they are just as sweet as pie! We went out in the row boats that are provided for the cabins, we floated around on our personal tubes, had a fire every night, made some delicious food, and some memories of a LIFETIME!!!

Know what you are getting. Put toilets and no showers.
Love the campground's quiet feeling. LOVE the new candy beach! What I miss is being able to swim when its so hot. The swim area is tiny and the bottom is mucky. Hoping to see some improvements in this area. Also, why are we waiting until 2 to check in? The sites are not mowed, raked or cleaned in any way and some of the fire pits are unusable. Kat and Art are great! Friendly and available when needed.

All the other campers were very respectful and was quite. The fishing was very good and the bass I caught were above average in size with one being 5lbs.
We camp here every summer! 1-2 times. Love it!! It’s a beautiful lake and a great area.

This is a small, quiet campground on a beautiful lake. My family has been coming here for years. Most of the daily sites are pretty narrow but long with lake front views.

There was no sheets on the bed, no towels and we didn't have hot water. Camp host was great and let us use another cabin for a shower. We've been coming here once a year for the last couple years, this was our first time renting a cabin normally we bring a camper.
Art & Kat were exceptional hosts. There were several severe storms the night before we arrived. We had no power from Saturday at 3 P.M. till Sun at 5:50 P.M. Kat & Art were helpful in every way possible. The Cabin was clean and the relaxation time was needed.
We loved our time at Pickerel Lake Campground!!
We had spot number 5 and we had beautiful views of the lake. It felt like we were the only campers there.
It was a very quiet campground, but we caught it on an off time where there weren’t many campers camping. It was a great place for star gazing as it got very dark there and there wasn’t light pollution.
The campground hosts are very friendly and very accommodating.
The lake does have large shells in it, so make sure you were water shoes.
I would highly recommend camping at Pickerel Lake Campground, it was just what we needed!!

We know there are new owners and look forward to the improvements they will make. Like the beach area, clean, usable fire rings, mown grass, low tree branches trimmed. The price went up so we are assuming they plan to make changes.
