Only 30 minutes east of Grand Rapids, this property was established as a Youth Camp for 15 years is now a private event venue and campground, so it has nice amenities like FULL restrooms, a picnic shelter, and even a few small cabins that can be rented.
Cabins ARE SMOKE FREE and may not be used as kennels so please keep pets off furnature and don't leave them inside when you are gone. You must bring your own queen sheet set. Steam cleaning the mattress will be an extra charge.
Swimming beach is available in Lowell a few miles away.
Fishing rivers and lakes are also in the area. (live bait in Saranac)
Woods site and Open Area have a few different locations you can choose from.

LARGE GROUPS - We are hosting events! Graduation parties, small weddings, family reunions, you name it. You can rent the whole campground for a day a night, a weekend, or a whole week if that suits your need. Just send us a message and we can talk about it. We can also accommodate large groups at a single campsite or you can rent several of them. Our primary guideline is that if your event will be held while other campers are here, it cannot disturb them. So, consider renting the whole campground.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please plan to arrive and set up camp between 3 and 9 PM. If you are planning to arrive after 9 PM, please send us a message letting us know. We decide on a case by case basis since we prefer not to have late arrivals. In any event we do not accept arrivals after 11 PM except in an emergency since many campers and your host may have already gone to bed.
Overview:
Our beautiful 10 acre farm and homestead is situated between Ann Arbor and Dexter not far from the Huron River. The 5 acre area where our campsites are located is wooded with mature oak, maple, walnut, elm, and white pine trees. We're isolated and surrounded by wild areas and natural farm land but just a 10 minute drive to restaurants, groceries, fuel, and other amenities. The Ann Arbor area is home to a huge array of world class events from the Ark music venue to National Champions Michigan home football games and a whole lot more. Downtown Ann Arbor or Dexter or Chelsea is only a 15 minute car drive. White Lotus Farms, which has a wonderful farm market on Saturdays from 9 - 2 and Wednesdays from 9 - 1, is a 10 minute walk down our dirt road. If you forget to bring something that you need, don't hesitate to ask! We've got a growing number of camping essentials for rent or sale for very reasonable prices that can make your stay even more enjoyable: from bug repellants to camp chairs, potable water in 2.5 - 5 gallon containers, and more.
NEW IN 2025 we have installed a hose with potable water near the entrance to the campground for your convenience.

Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!
We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!
Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. Knowing that you chose our resort to support, means a lot to our Superior Times and Resort family team. We truly appreciate your loyalty and give special thanks to our returning customers. The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire. Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. If you want privacy we suggest you book both.

What more do you need than a private camping site and your 125' of your own pristine Lake Superior beachfront access? Well, there is the need of a fire ring so we added that, too! Everything else you will to bring to enjoy the million dollar views. Oh, and on the opposite side of the camping site is quiet slough which is great for smooth water paddling and exploring.
Down the gravel road about 1/3 miles are logging roads to hike, bike and explore. OHV trails are a couple miles away but check local maps for detailed information.
Intentionally being minimalists beyond a fire ring and picnic table, there is a port-a-john (of humble means) to make your stay comfortable. You will need to bring your own firewood if you desire a campfire.

This camp site is Well Maintained & Full of Family Fun Extras & Ammenities!
The games are fun - the basic but very functional kitchen is Great! The porta johns were kept nice and clean.
"Warning" that the walk in camping is up hill. We took a large tent and a decent amount of gear - I would be cautious if you were taking a large tent and a large cooler and a table Etc Yada Yada up to teh Amazing SItes.
Don't get me wrong - the site was quite - Beautiful - Pines - Not many if any mosquitos - very cool - Just I didn't really think walking in meant a climb and it took us a decent amount of trips so - fair warning - if you are used to drive in - unload and set up on a flat surface - be prepared for a Little climb of 75-125 feet up hill.
That being said they had a dolly wagon for us! So it was just a little more than a little exercise - but we'd do it again - if that makes sense?
If you are taking a smaller tent - it's like -Not even a Thing.
ALso we took too much Stuff because we could have done without a small cooker which we used only for coffee and the french press and so forth if we had actually trusted the reviews of teh ammenities.
They have Great ammenities!
We were just "dumb"-ish.
My daugter's first time - very family freindly and by design Amazing!

Loved camping here. Friendly, flexible hosts, hot shower, quick access via bike to the Dragon Trail, and I relaxed in the evening in the cozy communal patio/bonfire space.
We could hear partying on the water (I think) Fri/Sat evening from the rustic camping area just a heads up. Didn’t bother us.

Mark was a great host and his camp was comfortable and full of character. All the little outbuildings and beer garden were so cool. Mark is personable, informative, and accommodating. He was available to make us comfortable without hovering. The mountain biking was fantastic on the Dragon Trail, and we can’t imagine staying somewhere else to ride. We will be back.

The amenities at Camp Moonshadow make family camping so easy! Having an outdoor kitchen and running water made clean up a breeze, the community fire pit was comfy and convenient with stocked firewood, and there were lots of fun outdoor games on the land for kids and adults to play together! A heated and beautiful private outdoor shower was another plus. We loved seeing the stars at night through the pines in our campsite. Very easy access to Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and great communication from hosts.

Hot showers in the outdoor shower surrounded by beautiful trees were a plus! Our nephews loved having the outdoor games available and our campsite was quiet and pretty. We had a great time camping here! The site was private although there are neighbors on both sides. There was plenty of tree cover and most of the time nobody was there which made it pretty quiet. There is some road noise but not continuous. There are trees between you and the road. The port a potty was a little full but usable. It has a nice circle loop to get in and out easily. There was a nice flat spot super close to the water to park our 22 foot camper. So awesome to hear the waves with our windows open. They have a nice picnic table to use. There’s also a nice big fire pit over to the side. It was nice and shaded by the fire pit area. The sun comes right in your camp in the evening. Beautiful sunsets every night. We caught a bunch of walleye and a couple of small mouths. There are lots of beautiful waterfalls nearby. The host was very quick to respond when we were looking for the water. There is a hose across the driveway at the neighbors. The first one you pass coming into the driveway. Overall it was awesome and we will be coming back.
