Weekend Trip to Thousand S.’s Land

A thousand percent hands down would return to Thousand Suns ,the host was accommodating ,the land was beautiful a thing to be admitted by the bonfire in the morning as deers run through the field as you sip your coffee, hearing hawks distinct voice overhead as you travel through the trails of the property or the laid back serenity depicted by the aura of the Morning Star Camper , a blast to wake up and see turkeys and chickens running around as you open your eyes after a rest there ,by far one of the most enjoyable camping trips,highly recommend a place to travel to,top of my list for a nice getaway for the weekend from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We loved our stay on Pete and Olga’s property! Our host was easy to communicate when reach out for our ETA so they could lead us over to the campsite, and when we met they were very kind. The site itself was spacious and in a nice wooded area, with a firepit and picnic table as advertised. Community outhouse was just a short walk away and was very clean. I would recommend a 4WD vehicle to get to the site if it has been wet out.

Let me just say the privacy at the campsite is really nice (I went in late April). Stocked up with firewood, an outhouse to do #2 in, right on the Lake Michigan beach. My dog had an amazing time running around the beach and the night sky on a clear day is a must watch from the beach. Definitely coming back again, just don’t know when! Love it!

We loved Tails and Trails horse farm!! The campsite was very clean, and the owners couldn’t have been more friendly and kind. they showed us around the property, and we were greeted and escorted everywhere we went by either a sweet farm pup or a donkey! lmao yall, we camped here in below freezing temperatures and STILL had a ball!! my partner is a horse girl so surprising her with a meet and greet with the minis was a highlight of the trip! don’t sleep on this place, kirsten and her homestead is the place to stay when traveling through michigan!

We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! Watch the ships coming and going from the shore. AT and T cell service on property. You must take your trash with you when you leave. If you are bringing your fur animal, please pick up after them.If you smoke please do not through the butts on the ground. you will be charged a cleaning fee. **There are 2 cameras on the property for security reasons only. 1 is located at the pad, used to see when you arrive and checkout. and will also will take 1 picture daily. There is another camera on my shed facing the shed door as well for security. This camera will not be turned off. Please understand, I'm not near my property and this is my only way to check in. If you are not comfortable with this, please do not book and do not cover the cameras. You will be asked to leave immediately if cameras are covered. Policy is as long as they are not invading sleeping areas or bathrooms, cameras are allowed. Please understand I really want you to enjoy your stay, but I also need to protect myself. The front of the property offers a grassy, open area with enough space to park an SUV or small campervan and set up a few tents. Pop-up campers can fit, but space is tight and not ideal. The lot becomes fully wooded toward the back, with a short walking path winding through the trees. While not secluded, the property is clearly marked with pink boundary flags and is surrounded by a few neighboring homes, some of which have a partial view of the campsite. The neighbors are friendly, and the road the property sits on sees occasional vehicle traffic throughout the day. A 4-minute walk down the street brings you to an uncrowded public access point to Lake Huron, a true hidden gem with soft sand and spectacular views. It’s the perfect daytime escape for swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing by the water. Please note, it's about a 5-minute walk from the campsite, and you will need to cross US-23 (which is safe). You can return to the site in the evening for a cozy bonfire under the stars. And if you’re up for a little exploring, both Tawas City and Au Gres are only 10 minutes away and filled with charming shops, local eats, and small-town character. This campsite is best suited for small groups seeking an affordable and accessible basecamp, not for those looking for a deep-woods, off-grid experience.
