Weekend Trip to Camper On 11 Acres, Private Site

This is a great spot off the beaten path. A hidden gem. Scott and his wife were super welcoming on their property and we're able to help with anything we needed. Deer walked thru the camp and property. Lovely walking path thru the property as well. Very welcoming. We will definitely be back soon.

Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

This Lil’ cabin was such a wonderful stay after a day of hiking nearby trails! It had all the creature comforts needed to keep warm, heat up water for cocoa, and the cleanest porta john nearby! The host was very kind and gracious with lit lamps to find the bathroom. We definitely plan to be back in the future!

Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

The cabin was so adorable and it was perfectly warm all night with the little wood stove. Beds were comfortable and I usually have back pain but no issue with the mattresses! The property was beautiful and the host was so kind, he gave is a tour of the cabin and showed us how everything worked, in the morning my dad wanted to see the other cabin and he gave us a mini tour of that one as well. They have a dog on the property but he's super sweet, no barking heard at all. Lovely fall colors and just 15 minutes away from the Muskegon state park off lake Michigan (highly recommend for hikes or picnic). Would come again!

Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

Ed’s Grand Cabin was just what we needed for a weekend getaway! The wood stove kept the cabin nice and warm as we had some cold weather and even a little bit of snow as the winter season approaches. It was a nice, quiet space to relax, cook, and enjoy a fire inside and outside the cabin. We enjoyed a walk on the well maintained trails around the property! Definitely would return in the future!

Weekend Trip to Dalton Traders Tents RV's Cabins

Spent the weekend at Ed's with my boyfriend during late October, when the leaves were changing. We were looking for a cozy getaway in the woods, and his cabin/land MORE than delivered. His cabin was stocked with everything (+ some) to keep us entertained, while locking ourselves away from the hustle and bustle of weekly work. Fortunately, we didn't get much cell service here, which gave us the opportunity to be fully disconnected. We filled our days hiking his many trails scattered throughout his beautiful woods, and tending to the outside fire ring and maintaining the fire in the mini wood stove in the cabin. Ed's cabin provided us with the most relaxing weekend and we cannot recommend it enough if you're needing a weekend to slow down, pause, and reflect on your never-ending To-Do list. We will certainly be back in the future! Thank you Ed, for creating such a space like "Dalton Traders Lil' Cabin" for people like us, to enjoy the beautiful luxury of being able to immerse ourselves in the great outdoors.

The layout of the campsites is very privately cozy and well maintained. Nicely flat ground areas for tents, and many opportunities for hammock spaces in the area. The evening solar lights keep the sites well-lit and very inviting. The campfire kettle rings and swivel grill are very functional for camp cooking. The hobby farm animals are very entertaining to watch, and it was very fun to help Pamela feed them during their feeding schedules. The composting toilet is very clean and well kept. Cellular service is very limited, but accessible north near the farm and south near the property line. Many supplies were available in addition to the site bookings and were greatly appreciated. I will definitely be returning :)

Weekend Trip to Camper On 11 Acres, Private Site

This was our first time using Hipcamp and it was a great experience. Place looks just like the pictures, beautiful and cozy. Far away from town to feel like you've gotten away but close enough that you can run and grab something at walmart or get a bite to eat if you don't feel like cooking. Scott was a great host, we were having a hard time getting our fire going since it had been raining a few days before. He came to our rescue and we sat and enjoyed chatting for the evening. Inside the camper was a cute little smore set up that we took advantage of. It was clean and spacious. You could tell it's been taken great care of. Will definitely be back!

Ed's property was a welcomed retreat during autumn in Michigan. I stayed with my 7 year old and infant and we were delighted with the Grand Cabin. The play structure on the property (built by Ed!) was a major highlight for my 7 year old. We wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin has string lights and lanterns for light, wood stove for heat, and plenty of blankets. We were very cozy on a mild Fall night.

We had an absolute blast! Scott and Christine were extremely accommodating hosts. The camper was stocked and clean, the campsite was well lit and so nice and quiet. We saw deer and turkey in the mornings, sipping coffee by the fire. They have all the tools and utensils you may need for cooking either in the kitchen or on the fire. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning. Thank you!

The property is shared by (2) full-hook up RV sites and a cabin. If available, the cabin and sites may be rented together however the owners, Jim and Maria, use the cabin much of the summer leaving just the RV sites available. The property is at mile market 13 of the Kal-Haven Trail - the midpoint. The Kal-Haven Trail is a biking, cross-country skiing, walking, running, snowmobiling - you name it, the trail that goes 34 miles from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Literally steps from the property and you are on the trail. But you may not need to leave the property, with 6.3 acres of woods and field, with trail cut through PLUS the added public lands butted up to Tincan's property line, giving almost 20 acres to roam. Each RV site - far enough apart to be separate, close enough if you and friends/family want to camp together, has a fire pit and fireplace. Each RV site offers water, 30|50AMP electrical and septic. The dock may have availability for keeping you boat - please inquire. There are kayaks and some bikes (mostly teen and adult size) that may be used. Property is adjacent to Connor Bayou County Park and surrounded by natural wetlands. So, we are a perfect place to unwind, chill, enjoy fresh air and picture perfect sunsets. Boating, swimming, jet skis, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing are just a few things to be enjoyed on the water. There's a public boat launch just a couple minute ride and Connor Bayou Park has a kayak specific boat launch. Or, you can also drop a kayak in at the very west end of our property right from shore. Hiking, biking and wildlife/bird/eagle watching are also options. Lake Michigan beaches, various state/county parks, downtown Grand Haven's shops and restaurants are just a short drive away. Holland is about 30 minutes south. PJ Hoffmaster State Park is 25 minutes North. If you are a thrill seeker, Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Waterpark is 40 minutes North in Muskegon. Grand Rapids is 40 minutes to the East. There are also many wineries, distilleries, ciders and craft beer in Southwest Michigan as well as "you pick" blueberries and many festivals in the summer. Bottom line....there is plenty of things to do and see during your visit. You can be as active or as chill as you want to be.

Also new this year is a pond, an above ground pool, a second Porta Pottie, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and a more extensive First Aide Kit, and finally a Keurig and more options at the ‘Refreshment / Charging Station’. 2Chicks And A Farm is a small working farm on 20 acres, owned and run by Julie and Theresa Graham. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and the lake. 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo. And just under an hour from Grand Rapids. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. It can also take a larger RV. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. Please try to plan to check-in by 9pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

Alcohol etc. friendly (legal-age only, obvs) On one side of our backyard here in the city is a large flower & vegetable garden, sheltered from a very low-key private parking lot for a 100yr old Polish Hall... and the neighbors on the other side are friendly & super chill! It's a nice, easy walk to downtown &/or there are two LIME Program bike & scooter share areas 2 blocks from the house & a city bus stop 1 block away! There's room for 3 tents: (or a couple LARGE family tents!:) 10'x'14' tent spots, 6'x8' tent spot, & if necessary, room for a small 2-person backpacking/solo tent We also have 1 very large "family" tent, 2 air mattresses & 2 sleeping bags available for rent! About

Sunrise-sunrise, sunset-sunset! This state park offers visitors and overnight campers a killer view of gorgeous Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. Stand on either beautiful beach and absorb the famous sunlight show while sailboats ease by.

Holland is also known for its biking trails that go up to 25 miles of roadside trails. And check this—they're paved. Somebody's paved the road for you so all you gotta do is show up and get your bike on. Hikers, join the roof-raising. New dune trails lead through historical Ottawa Beach and beach volleyball is set up and ready to jam.

There are two campgrounds to choose from. The Beach Campground is set in the sand dunes and offers 31 full hook up sites. The Lake Macatawa Campground is close to the boat launch near the park entryway.

You can also reserve the fully-equipped Whitetail Cabin that gives perfect Big Red Lighthouse and Holland Channel views. Whether you come to just check a sunset or stay the week, your trip is well worth the sights.

When to go

The best time to visit Holland State Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the park is fully accessible. Off-season visits, particularly from late fall to early spring, may be less ideal due to cooler temperatures and limited park services.

Holland Campground

I have no complaints about the campsite or amenities but it is slightly unfortunate that there is only one route into the state park. It took 50 minutes to travel the last mile to get into the campsite during heavy arrival time to the beach. Wise to bring bicycles to commute to nearby restaurants, ice cream and convenience store.

Pier jumping is a must! Along with catching a sunset and grabbing some ice cream cones on the way back to camp.
