Francesco is a great host and super responsive. The campsite we were at wasn’t really a private campsite as it sits directly on the path to later ones, but it’s still quite far from the others so not a big deal. My only suggestion would be add a picnic table to the site

3 nights at Kalamazoo Haven

Sandra was fantastic! Her space was absolutely beautiful and she set us up with everything we needed. As her first stay, she was still setting up the kitchen area, but the tent and bathhouse was stocked and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. A few thunderstorms occurred while we stayed and did not have any issues with water leaking or wetness inside the tent. Our dogs loved running around and having space to explore. It was so nice waking up and sitting in the deck watching the turkeys and horses. We will most definitely be back when visiting family.

Weekend Trip to Epic Lake Michigan Lookout Property

Easily the best camping trip we’ve ever had. The hilltop campsite view looking out toward Lake Michigan was incredible. It was the perfect place to watch the sunset every evening. The private beach access was unbeatable. The water was the perfect temperature and super clean. We swam constantly. There was a huge pile of free firewood already at the site, more than enough for our entire stay. The fire pit setup was one of the best we’ve seen, with benches around it. Great for cooking meals and roasting marshmallows. We saw over 50 deer and over 50 turkeys in just three days. Our kids caught bugs, our dogs roamed free, and we spent hours walking along the shoreline. Even the neighbors down the beach were friendly and said hello. This campsite is best for people who are in decent shape and pack light, since it’s a bit of a climb from the parking area to the site and again down to the beach. The payoff is absolutely worth it. Drew, the host, is a great guy and really made the experience smooth. For the price, this place is a steal. One of a kind. We’ll definitely be coming back.

We loved our stay at Flipside. Bob and Vicki make camping easy and relaxing. They have wagons for making gear transport easy and the sites are serene. They’re very knowledgeable regarding the area and give great recommendations for any kind of excursion.

Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreat at New Richmond

The cabin at Riverside was absolutely adorable! All the ambience of a true fishing cabin from long ago. Julie and Bill were fantastic hosts. The communication was spectacular and they responded to us immediately when a little hiccup occurred. The cabin is situated right on the river and there are boats and kayakers waving as they pass. There is a train directly across the street hidden by some trees, so you will hear the train noises, but that didn’t bother us any. It’s not a secluded site, but you still have privacy. You really only need to bring your clothes because everything else has been provided for you. Fennville is a cute little town with a surprisingly well appointed grocery store and some great dining spots. It’s a short distance to Saugatuck, Holland, and a little farther to South Haven. We had a great day and would love to come back again to do some kayaking! Thank you, Bill and Julie!

I had a great time staying in the Grand Cabin! Ed was super helpful giving us a tour on arrival and had great local recommendations. The cabin was in a great location to go spend a day at one of the nearby state park beaches. We loved coming home to hammock and have a campfire!

Beautiful view, every time of day or night. Very welcoming, kind neighbors. Quiet neighborhood. The walking trails are very steep, with silky sand underneath. Walking down isn't bad, but going up is very difficult. For the campsite and the beach. Still worth it to me. The only let down, was that it is not very private. People boat in and anchor down and walk to the beach, some park at DH park and walk down and set up on the beach. Before lunch and after sunset it is very private. But in between, it was a steady flow of others, and they enjoyed staring up at out tent area, in interest. With the visitors and unattended teens, sound travels on water, so it isn't as peaceful as we thought, during those times. Everything you need is a short drive away. The view is amazing, the beach is great, and definitely better than a public access beach. Still worth it. Just wasn't expecting it.

3 nights at Sunflower Farms

I stayed a few nights at the Deer Grove site and it was amazing! Very private and had just enough shade. Location is perfect being just a few minute drive into town. This was my first experience using Hipcamp, and I am so glad I found it. Frank and his wife were so kind and accommodating. I hope to stay here again.

This campground is perfect for a getaway. Mike is amazing and helped us put our kayaks in the river so we could have a nice float back down to the campsite. There are showers and working toilets. We will be back!

I loved camping at 2chicks! The property is well maintained and felt private. The farm tour was a lot of fun! We had lots of kitty visitors who were very friendly and enjoyed their company. Unfortunately, our tent was damaged during our visit (we got hit with a large storm) but our host graciously allowed us to switch camp sites to a yurt last minute. The host's did fresh coffee and hot water in the morning making our breakfast easy. Id love to return again! Highly recommend!

My family stayed at 2 chicks and a farm and loved it. We were greeted with a welcome basket and a tour. Everything was very clean. We were given a fan in our tent and they had complimentary coffee and snacks. The animals were wonderful and friendly. The worst part was my son getting attached to a cat and having to leave. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

For a total of 13 options. 2Chicks And A Farm is a small working farm on 20 acres, owned and run by Julie and Theresa Graham. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and the lake. 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo. And just under an hour from Grand Rapids. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, which is where three of our camp sites, Hammock Haven are located. Each site has a fire ring & picnic table. One site, capable of taking a mid sized RV / Fifth Wheel, is located on the front of the property with easy access from the road. It backs up to some trails and brush/wood area and has a corn field to the right. So, even though on the front on the property, you have a feeling of privacy. It too has a fire pit and picnic table. Three camp sites are located in the pasture. One is at the bottom of the pasture (1) and quite open. It can accommodate larger groups with multiple tents. A more secluded site (5) is half open and half in light woods., and is located at the top of the pasture. The others are in the middle of the pasture, 2 for sun lovers and 3 for those who prefer more shade. For those who prefer more seclusion, we have cleared three sites in the woods. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. Some have fire wood boxes (we’re working on making a box for all sites). We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. This is free. A coffee bar is on the back deck. Coffee is brewing around 7am. We also provide hot water, teas, hot chocolate and cider. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack. This is all free, though small donations are welcomed. Our goats, poultry, pigs, rabbits, cats and dogs and produce take up about an acre and a half. Then the rest is open space. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (additional fee). Use the BBQ or smoker. And even join in on farm chores if you are so inclined. Please try to plan to check-in by 9pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

There is still plenty of space for pitching tents, car camping, and even more amenities included with your stay. [Apirl 18th Update] Because we are still in the process of opening up a communal kitchen, a larger common area, an improved outdoor fire pit area, showers, and more there may be construction going on during your stay. One Grand Place - Riverside Retreat

This property is at the end of a private road and has three adjoining waterfront parcels that have been in the family for decades that we fondly refer to as One Grand Place. Family still lives on one of the parcels but we are excited to be sharing the other 2 parcels with all of you. One parcel is our Premium RV site on a cement pad, parallel to the river and can accommodate 1 RV (5th wheel, travel trailer, pop up, Class C etc. NO Class A's allowed). 30/50/standard 110 Electric and water hookup. Pump out is available for a fee. The other adjacent parcel at the very far west end of the property is a large grassy area with 2 sites. Both have 30 and standard 110 electric, plus water. --1 Standard RV site can accommodate 1 RV (5th wheel, travel trailer, pop up, Class C etc. NO Class A's allowed). Or, can be used as a tent site IF the tent only site is already booked. Pump out is available for a fee. --1 Tent only site. To be booked first before the Standard RV site. However, both sites are next to each other with same view. There is plenty of room to set up games, fish, play with the kids or the dogs, etc. What's not to like? It is your very own exclusive home away from home. If you don't have an RV or a tent and want to still come and visit, no problem. Rent one of our RVs or rent our tent. PLEASE NOTE: We are not a commercial campground or a business. However, there are certain rules that must be adhered to per the agreement with our local township and our neighbors along our shared private road. Property is adjacent to Connor Bayou County Park and is surrounded by natural wetlands. Perfect place to unwind, chill, enjoy the fresh air and picture perfect sunsets. Boating, swimming, jet skis, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing are just a few of the things to enjoy on the water. Bring your own boat, jet ski, kayak or rent from nearby establishments. One of many public boat launches is just a couple minute ride and Connor Bayou County Park has a kayak specific boat launch. You can also drop a kayak in at the very west end of our property right from shore. If you are bringing your own boat, jet ski, kayak and have a separate trailer, parking of that trailer must be pre-authorized due to limited space. Please inquire. Hiking, biking and wildlife, bird/eagle watching are also in the area. Spring Lake, Lake Michigan, beaches, various state/county parks, downtown Grand Haven's shops and restaurants are just a short drive away. Holland is about 30 minutes south and also has a cute downtown, craft beers, and beaches. PJ Hoffmaster State Park is 20 minutes North. If you are a thrill seeker Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Waterpark is only 30 minutes North in Muskegon. There are also many wineries, ciders and craft beer in Southwest Michigan. And many blueberry farms around too. Bottom line....there is plenty of things to do and see during your visit. You can be as active or as chill as you want to be.

Sunrise-sunrise, sunset-sunset! This state park offers visitors and overnight campers a killer view of gorgeous Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. Stand on either beautiful beach and absorb the famous sunlight show while sailboats ease by.

Holland is also known for its biking trails that go up to 25 miles of roadside trails. And check this—they're paved. Somebody's paved the road for you so all you gotta do is show up and get your bike on. Hikers, join the roof-raising. New dune trails lead through historical Ottawa Beach and beach volleyball is set up and ready to jam.

There are two campgrounds to choose from. The Beach Campground is set in the sand dunes and offers 31 full hook up sites. The Lake Macatawa Campground is close to the boat launch near the park entryway.

You can also reserve the fully-equipped Whitetail Cabin that gives perfect Big Red Lighthouse and Holland Channel views. Whether you come to just check a sunset or stay the week, your trip is well worth the sights.

When to go

The best time to visit Holland State Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the park is fully accessible. Off-season visits, particularly from late fall to early spring, may be less ideal due to cooler temperatures and limited park services.

I have no complaints about the campsite or amenities but it is slightly unfortunate that there is only one route into the state park. It took 50 minutes to travel the last mile to get into the campsite during heavy arrival time to the beach. Wise to bring bicycles to commute to nearby restaurants, ice cream and convenience store.
