We do have two sites available, but we'll only take one booking at a time. So, you'll have the area to yourself and your choice of campsites. There's a public boat launch just a couple minute ride and Connor Bayou Park has a kayak specific boat launch. Or, you can also drop a kayak in at the very west end of our property right from shore. Hiking, biking and wildlife/bird/eagle watching are also options. Lake Michigan beaches, various state/county parks, downtown Grand Haven's shops and restaurants are just a short drive away. Holland is about 30 minutes south. PJ Hoffmaster State Park is 25 minutes North. If you are a thrill seeker, Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Waterpark is 40 minutes North in Muskegon. Grand Rapids is 40 minutes to the East. There are also many wineries, distilleries, ciders and craft beer in Southwest Michigan as well as "you pick" blueberries and many festivals in the summer. Bottom line....there is plenty of things to do and see during your visit. You can be as active or as chill as you want to be.

Occasional howls from distant coyotes and infrequent raccoons. The campsites are located on a hill dominated by tall pines overlooking the east facing property. Secluded, but only a 700 feet from the main residence. Only 1 1/2 miles P.J Hoffmaster's State Park and a 10 minutes ride to Grand Haven State Park/Lake Michigan. Campsites are rustic but we provide camp toilets, a picnic table and a waste container. Fresh water is available at the barn. We also provide a shelter (Gazebo) with picnic tables and a charcoal park grille. A large community fire pit is available with wood provided for a small cost ($5 per bundle - cash or Venmo) by the hosts. A rinse off station has been recently added located next to the barn! The RV site is located by the barn and has 20amp electric service. When arriving please drive to the end of the driveway towards the last house. The Flipside Acres sign will be on your right side. Drive down the gravel entrance and park where indicated by the red barn. All sites are a short walk from the parking area (500ft) and carts are provided for your use. If needed, we can also provide transportation using our UTV. Tent sites are not accessible by car. We also offer free coffee at the Gazebo near the barn and have recently added a rinse off station as well featuring a limited supply of warm water!

A paved walking and biking trail is just a three minute walk from your camp site. The state park is 1 mile away and a small convenience store is located between the two. 2Chicks And A Farm is a small working farm on 20 acres, owned and run by Julie & Theresa Graham. We are 13 minutes from South Haven and Lake Michigan, 30 minutes from the city of Kalamazoo and just under an hour from Grand Rapids. Those of you who have visited in the past will notice that we significantly downsized this year. Due to Township and State regulations, we are now limited to offering only four campsites unless we get licensed, which at this time is cost prohibitive. So, we have selected the four most highly rated sites and upgraded them, to truly make your experience here special. About half of the 20 acres is wooded, with walking trails around the property, to include our fish stocked pond and a little tributary of the Black River. All sites have a fire ring, or metal fire pit, and picnic table. We have an outdoor propane shower that provides both hot and cold water. A free refreshment bar is available 24/7. Feeling a little peckish before breakfast, or after dinner? Help yourself to a snack and a hot or cold drink. You are welcome to collect eggs for breakfast and fresh produce from our gardens (for a fee). We are a working farm and registered as two Non-Profits. One an animal rescue, primarily working with cats. At any given day we have 20-30 cats roaming around the farm. All are under the care of our vet, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and treated for fleas and ticks. All important because they will want to interact with you. Some will want to sleep with you. Our 100 plus flock of poultry, comprised of chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys, free range during the day, so leave the Prada's at home. If you are staying at Sam's Place, your closest neighbors will Penelope and Petunia, our two female sister pigs. The prevailing winds are down from your site, but you may hear them squabble. Our herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats will love your attention and treats we can provide. Arriving in March is Jack, a miniature donkey...we are very excited! Please try to check-in by 8pm. Exceptions can be made. There are locally mandated quiet hours (10-7 Sun through Thur, and 11-7 Fri and Sat). Hanging out by a fire and chatting is fine.

The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire.  Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. If you want privacy we suggest you book both.

Flipside Acres was the perfect camping spot for our family of four. We were looking for a quiet, secluded site away from RVs and generators, and this exceeded our expectations. Vicki and Bob were wonderful hosts—they gave us a tour, made us feel welcome, and were available if we needed anything. The campsite was peaceful, heavily wooded, and surprisingly comfortable. They spray for mosquitoes, so with a little bug spray and a Thermacell, bugs were never an issue. Even the toilet situation was much better than we expected—definitely preferable to a typical porta-potty. The location was another big plus: it felt private and secluded while still being only about 10 minutes from Grand Haven and North Beach. We’d gladly stay here again.

You'll be surprised by deer passing through the site, wild turkeys and black squirrels! It's clean, well menaged and organized. We will definitely be back again!

Weekend Trip to Hostel SoHa

Nadia has a Great spot! This place has showers, bathrooms, laundry facilities, lockers, a full blown kitchen and community space, AND land! The camping areas are super cute and useful. Hammocks and yard games provided. The community fire pit had to be our favorite part of our one night stay. We met so many cool and friendly people from all over the country and world. Stories were told, music was played, snacks and other goodies were passed around and everyone was polite and respectful. Super Queer friendly! Just a short drive to multiple beaches and the downtown area (10 min away!) This hostel is awesome. Nadia has a good thing going! Can’t wait to see what future projects for her hold. Definitely plan on staying here again.

We had an amazing stay at Lil Cabin! Ed was an incredible host—friendly, welcoming, and quick to help with anything we needed. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we could have asked for. It was very accommodating both inside and outside, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. You can tell a lot of care has gone into the property. This was by far our favorite stay yet, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Tent camping at Dalton Traders was great. The campsite, while pretty open to the rest of the property, is spacious and the other cabins are tuck away so it feels more private. Morning and evening walks through the short meandering trails at the rear of the property became a nice ritual during our stay. If camping, a screened canopy is very helpful since the regional flooding has really helped out the mosquito population. I would definitely return.

We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. The hosts were extremely attentive and always available if we needed anything. The RV was clean and well-maintained, and they even helped us with our bonfire, which made our stay even more enjoyable. They are genuinely kind and caring people. We would definitely come back and highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a great experience! One of the highlights of our stay was meeting Monty, their dog, who was such a good boy and made our experience even more special!

Overview

About

Sunrise-sunrise, sunset-sunset! This state park offers visitors and overnight campers a killer view of gorgeous Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. Stand on either beautiful beach and absorb the famous sunlight show while sailboats ease by.

Holland is also known for its biking trails that go up to 25 miles of roadside trails. And check this—they're paved. Somebody's paved the road for you so all you gotta do is show up and get your bike on. Hikers, join the roof-raising. New dune trails lead through historical Ottawa Beach and beach volleyball is set up and ready to jam.

There are two campgrounds to choose from. The Beach Campground is set in the sand dunes and offers 31 full hook up sites. The Lake Macatawa Campground is close to the boat launch near the park entryway.

You can also reserve the fully-equipped Whitetail Cabin that gives perfect Big Red Lighthouse and Holland Channel views. Whether you come to just check a sunset or stay the week, your trip is well worth the sights.

When to go

The best time to visit Holland State Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the park is fully accessible. Off-season visits, particularly from late fall to early spring, may be less ideal due to cooler temperatures and limited park services.

I have no complaints about the campsite or amenities but it is slightly unfortunate that there is only one route into the state park. It took 50 minutes to travel the last mile to get into the campsite during heavy arrival time to the beach. Wise to bring bicycles to commute to nearby restaurants, ice cream and convenience store.
