Please drive slowly and cautiously through our property. We are an active farm with a lot of activity all year round.
Please pitch your tent in the designated campground area.
In support of conservation of the natural ecosystem, please refrain from broadcast pesticides, i.e. Raid, Yard Guard, etc. Spraying skin, clothing, and personal property with mosquito repellent in your designated camping is fine.
Our farm has beehives placed at a safe distance from the campsites to ensure guest safety. Obey posted signs and please stay out of designated work areas

Twenty years of growing this farm... Not what grows here but the farm itself! Stone and brick pulled from the ground till we found the beautiful earth beneath and built an incredible community around it. Or rather, it grew itself from the energy that surrounds it. It's a special spot where you may happen upon a fire in the sugar shack while we boil city collected sap into maple syrup or have an open jam night with world class jazz musicians. Enjoy the morning serenade of our rooster! Really, just come and be here. Though we think we're pretty cool, a few things to note that you may not think are so cool: There is a train that runs directly behind the farm. Light sleepers, may want to bring ear plugs. We try to accommodate parking your car on site but it's weather and situation conditional. Assume the possibility that you may need to park on the street.
Bring your tent to The Vaudeville! (RVs, campers, trailers, vans please see the ** at the bottom). Our urban farm is smack in the middle of Chicago only a 10 minute bike or train ride from Downtown, Lake Michigan, The Mag Mile and all Chicago has to offer! Bike the Lake Shore Trail, walk the 606, kayak the Chicago River, catch a blues show or Hawks game or just relax with the goats and chickens in the 9,000 square foot farm that we absolutely love to share with fellow campers!
** We have stopped hosting RVs, campers/vans, pull behinds and larger vehicles because we are finding it difficult to get them in the entrance gate but if you feel amazingly capable with your backing in skills in your rig and you're super patient, laid back and extra cool, let us know and we may be able to make it work!! :)

This is a 3rd generation "Family Farm" of a different sort I suppose. Seems there's a bit of everything here, and arguably not enough of anything. At least for conventional farming. So we've learned to do things a bit differently.Our main crop is wine and juice grapes since our topography, climate, and soil type makes it a premier location for that. But with 30+ acres of forested hillsides, low ground, and natural areas we've evolved into a mixed farm and forest enterprise. Our goal is to utilize the productivity of all our property while still retaining the basic character and usefulness of the wild areas. Letting each thing be what it wants to be and does best on it's own. Flow, not force.So our year starts early with tapping maple trees and making maple syrup. Plus there's grape trimming about this time as well. When the forest floor starts to green up a bit later, we start digging Ramps, or Wild Leeks in the woods. Most of these will go to the more trendy Chicago restaurants, but we also have some local sales. Next comes inoculating winter-cut logs with Shiitake spawn for next years mushroom production. This year we also conducted a few hands-on workshop seminars on mushroom growing as well. Then it's on to our raised bed herb & veggie gardens. (Fresh herbs are just so much fun to cook with!) We grow enough for our own yearly use, as well as some for direct sales. Summer keeps us busy tending all the different crops here and trying to keep up. But there's that steady progression of fresh veggies to eat. Yum !!! Fall brings our annual Grape U-Pick in September and October. And we try to time related crops like mums, pumpkins, and gourds for this same time frame. Makes the place a bit more interesting. Late fall is when we bring in firewood to heat the house and workshop. Stacks of wood everywhere. Hopefully before the 1st snow. In winter it's time to fire up the woodworking shop and be a bit creative. Build furniture, equipment maintenance, who knows what next years projects will include. I like to keep everybody guessing.So, that's what goes on here. You're welcome to check it out, lend a hand, relax back at camp, walk the vineyards and/or forest, or just breathe and relax. That's up to you. But I would recommend visiting a few of the fine local wineries. Seems there's a festival going on at one or another of them just about every weekend. Good music, good wine, good times. And there's the Lake Michigan beaches a few miles down the road.Yeah, this is a pretty casual place here, love meeting new people, very open to civil discussions of all sorts.However, rude, ill mannered people will probably enjoy staying elsewhere. Just say'n.

When we bought this property in 2013, it was a little run down. Many years ago, it housed sheep and cows. We revamped our little 15-acre farm and continue to improve its looks. Now it is our home and houses my riding stable. Many people have commented on how nice it is. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share its beauty and the animals with others.

We have 3 spots to pitch a tent, but we're pretty flexible. If you see another area, please ask!. Site "Woods" is most secluded. We now have a cabin!! Our "Chalet". It will sleep 4 and has some great amenities. The others are around our grassy barnyard area where you're able to enjoy all of our different animals!. All sites are 2-5 mins from the main house. You will be staying on our horse farm. We have many chickens, bunnies, a potbelly pig, feeder pigs (depending on the time of year), and our 4 house dogs. We offer overnight equine amenities as well. There are 2 showering options and restroom available.
You can enjoy a small fire (weather dependent) or listen to the crickets and frogs under the starry night. Actually, you can do it all. We offer trail rides on the horses as well, (extra charges). You can even book a trip to the state park to ride the horse trails, which is only 15 minutes away. There is a great fishing lake less than 1 mile from the farm, so bring your poles and kayaks. Or rent ours!
There is a Dollar General, 2 gas stations, and a liquor store in our tiny little town if you forget anything. Walmart is 12 minutes North of us.

The Property:
The Barn on Twilight is a shared communal space among 3 homeowners and their guests. The barn is made up of a 3 bedroom Apartment, 3 pickleball courts, gym and a commercial kitchen with access to outdoor kitchen amenities. Please keep in mind that any of the homeowners can access the property at any time, except the Apartment while rented.
On the summer weekends, the homeowners will use the commercial kitchen as a gathering space. As much as they try to keep it quiet after 10pm, sometimes Lake Life catches up with them. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience of noise Thursday through Saturday!

We stayed at campsite 1 and it was great! Far enough away from the house but not too bad of a walk with a wagon to carry everything over. Nice short walking trail and the chickens are cute

Such a quaint nice little place, loved that it had all the hook ups. a nice little pond to walk around. It The host greeted me and took me to my camping spot and made sure I had everything I needed. a nice little touch they supplied wood for a campfire for the evening..

Weekend Trip to Glamp Chicago Yurt Urban Campsite
I brought my daughter and her friends here for her birthday and we had an absolute blast. Bob was very accommodating and a great communicator. Everything was as pictured, clean and well thought out. The only suggestion that I would have is for a vacuum or broom. Location is great, near everything but slightly secluded enough. Would highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Blooming Bus Farms
Loved my stay here during a weekend girls trip. The grounds were charming and thoughtfully decorated. Would definitely come visit again. Love how well the property was lit up making summer evening strolls delightful.

The campsite is spacious and well looked after. The chairs provided are in good condition and the fire pit is large. It is a short drive to the beach and John is friendly. I was able to fit my 6 person tent in the shaded area under the trees and still have some distance between it and the fire.

Very peaceful! The owner is very kind and helpful. Campsites are all under canopy and the kitchenettes are fabulous. He hand makes the furniture, like lawn chairs and tables and kitchenette. There is fire wood available, trails are wonderful, and the vineyard was beautiful at sunrise. A place you would happily return to! Perfect for families, groups, and solo travelers.

This spot is gorgeous and private and quiet. It's clear that Earl & Lisa pour love into this little piece of heaven. The wood was dry and burned well, the facilities are clean and well maintained and they even have hot water and amazing water pressure for a shower. I enjoyed my night here immensely. Also, there's good 5G mobile service and decent wifi here if you're like me and need to work while getting away.

Sleek Acres is a beautifully maintained property perfect for a quiet relaxing camping experience. We stayed 4 nights at the full hook-up site near the bathhouse and amazing pond. The sites were immaculate with a picnic table, fire ring and wood. We were greeted upon arrival, shown our place for the weekend and settled in easily. Lisa and Earl are exceptional hosts ~ they've worked hard at making their HipCamp inviting and obviously take pride in their land. Very kind, thoughtful, hospitable and helpful couple.
While visiting the area, we attended the annual Blueberry Festival, explored Indiana Dunes National Park, enjoyed several local craft breweries and drove the backroads lined with cornfields. We travel with our 8 year old rescue pup Schatzi Blu ~ she also had fun checking out the trails, pond with turtles/ducks/fish and watching the chickens/roosters in the pen. The farm fresh chicken eggs are delicious and made our Anniversay brunch even more special! A lil slice of heaven right in Indiana!! Excellent stay!!

Great spot! We got the place to ourselves, but there’s trees dividing each spot to give privacy event if there’s other campers. We bought a couple bundles of firewood and they went above and beyond by setting it up in the fire pit so it was ready to start when we got there. He even came over to offer a torch to help start the fire. Very friendly!

We booked this last minute but had a wonderful experience! The hosts were very friendly and made sure we had what we needed! The campsites are clean and well spaced. The bathrooms were clean and private, the shower was warm and there is a sink to wash dishes in as well! Its a beautiful property and within a short drive to a ton of things! I would absolutely stay here again!

Earl and Lisa were absolutely amazing! They were so accommodating to our late arrival and went out of there way to still make us feel welcomed. The space is absolutely beautiful. The pond was one of our favorite features. We woke up and fed the fish with the provided fish food. The space was huge and allowed us to feel secluded while still being close to the pond and bathhouse. The bathhouse was well lit and very clean. It had plenty of toilet paper, soap, and dish cleaner. Everyone at camp was so sweet, we will definitely recommend this site!

This is our second staying at Earl & Lisa’s place, and it never fails to impress! Tent camping in their space is great alongside all the amenities they provide. They are super kind and welcoming to anyone and will happily help if you ask. I would definitely recommend staying here as it is very peaceful and beautiful!
