This is a very private location. In its former life this property was a limestone quarry. Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. In the center of the property is about 5 acres that is flat and covered with wildflowers and small trees. There are several good options for camping in this area. Surrounding this area is another 15 acres of hills and trees. We have a scenic overlook open to all guests where you can relax and sit on a wooden swing while enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi River below. There is a boat ramp just a mile down the hill for boating or fishing on the Mississippi and the city of La Crosse, WI and La Crescent, MN are each only about a five minute drive. Great River Bluffs State Park and countless other recreational opportunities are just minutes away.

Welcome ; Located in southeast Minnesota's Driftless region of hills, valleys, fields and forests, we are a grass based working dairy farm with over 100 acres of woodland,
including an extensive trail system and campsites in our wooded acres. What makes this woodland special is it's quiet, secluded setting and over 6 miles of hiking / skiing trails.
Our farmstead sits three quarter of a mile off the paved county highway on our well maintained gravel driveway.
Each of our campsites are secluded from the others with their own sawdust compost toilets, picnic tables, fireplaces, and firewood.
Two of our sites require 4WD with a minimum of 6 inches ground clearance
to access, and two are accessible with 2WD.
If you do not have 4WD we can help transport your gear while you enjoy the walk in.
There are plenty of woodland birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons and squirrels sharing the woods with you. At night it is common for owls to visit the campsite area to say hello, and coyotes talking in the distance. The winding trails through 100 acres of woodland offer a variety of woodland habitats, from Old growth Maple to mixed hardwood, to dense brush, to the edges of open pastureland. Bring your fat bike or mountain bike for an enjoyable ride.
For winter users there is a mix of easy, moderate, and challenging winter cross country skiing
or snowshoeing / hiking
on the property. However the Rock Bottom Cabin is our only heated and insulated site and is available for winter booking. Winter access is walk in only with snow on the ground or in the forecast. We can help transport gear.
This property is part of a working pasture-based dairy farm and guided tours of the dairy and cattle are available when scheduling allows.
Children 12 and younger are free at our campsites.
No need to be counted as guests , but please let us know when requesting to book.
We do not allow non-booked visitors to our campsites due to the secluded, remote location, and accessibility.

We have a small hobby farm with lots of very tame animals. We have 42 acres to roams with lots of trails within the woods that are filled with aged oak trees and many young maple trees. Our property is filled with lots of wild flowers and wildlife.
We are locate 3 miles from the root river if you enjoy fishing or going for a float down the river. There are two caves in our area that are a must see while you are visiting. I you like to hike there is a state park 14 minutes from us that have many miles of hiking trails and horse trails.
If you are more the small town strolling type of person we have lots of small towns around us that are filled with shops and lots of great food! There is a large system of bike trails in our area that make a very fun way to check out some of the small towns.
If you have a family with kids we have a lot of fun activities you can do with your kids, like spending time with the goats and chickens, playing on our playground, or taking a nice walk through the woods looking for fossils!

Our 360-acre family farm—held by our family for nearly 80 years—has been transformed from a tree grove and a former highway borrow pit into a welcoming campground.
We’ve built two structures on the property, including a shop with a restroom and a cozy porch where my wife and I enjoy evenings watching deer and other wildlife. What began as a spot for family camping has grown into a campground we’re now opening to guests.
Campsites range from electric-hookup sites for convenience to primitive sites for those who want to unplug and enjoy quiet time in nature.
Beyond relaxing, guests can fish and paddle-boat on our pond or access the nearby Volga River for canoeing and kayaking. The Volga River State Recreation Area is just 10 miles away and offers additional fishing, boating, hiking, and horseback-riding opportunities.
Update: So far this spring we haven't seen any fish in our pond. We don't know what happened to them and if fishing on the pond will be possible this year.

We had an amazing family camping weekend, even though Mother Nature definitely put us to the test! 🌧️
The entire weekend was wet and rainy, and the creek below the hill where we originally planned to set up camp ended up flooding. Despite the challenging weather and unexpected flooding, the campsite itself was fantastic. It was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate all 10 of us, which made a huge difference for our family.
What really made the weekend special was that we didn’t let the rain or flooding ruin the experience. We stayed together, made the best of the situation, shared plenty of laughs, and created some great family memories. Sometimes the unexpected adventures end up being the ones you remember the most!
The campsite was beautiful, spacious, and a great fit for a large family group. Shout out to Eric, great host. We had a really good time and would definitely consider coming back again — hopefully with a little less rain next time! 😄🌲🔥

We had another terrific stay at Bluff Hollow Camp this year… and I will repeat what I said last year - it is a tranquil GEM of a site. We enjoyed days of peaceful solitude and forest bathing as well as excellent fishing access to the beautiful Root River. The maintenance and cleanliness levels are superb. And host Eric is a pleasure to work with. We eagerly look forward to returning next year!

I'd say that camping here is worth it as you get a nice view near the top of the camping area along with being near some good fishing spots if you're into that sort of thing. A problem I could see is that this camp site is on top a steep hill so id be cautious if it rains and or bring a vehicle that can handle steep inclines. Other than that had a great time here and would definitely come again.

This was a great site, especially for exploring the nearby Mystery Cave State Park. The grounds were well maintained with mowed grassy sites and wide trails throughout the property. The many ponds on site were great for birding and wildlife watching!
Most of the sites could easily accommodate 2+ tents. Gemini was the most private site, followed by Pisces. Orion and Orion’s Belt were closer to the property’s home but still spacious and somewhat private.
We highly recommend this site!

We loved the Frickson Family Farm. The site was level and the view was lovely. It was a nice break from the usual RV Parks. We had electricity and water. The water pressure was good.
We went to The Shed, a nearby bar/restaurant for dinner. The service and the burgers were good.
They have a little farm shop where we purchased some smoked pork chops, which were delicious. I highly recommend this place. It was very convenient to I90 if you are traveling that way.

Weekend Trip to Lanesboro Acres
Very peaceful and scenic spot! Bed had a super comfy memory foam mattress, you just need to bring your own pillow. Location is close to both Mystery Cave and Niagara Cave as well as Amish towns and a charming downtown Lanesboro is only 10 mins away. Good hiking and biking trails in the area as well. The perfect rural getaway overall. Super friendly hosts!

I loved camping here and will be back 100 percent! We caught a trout in the stream and had a great time! He has fire wood on site that you can buy which is very convenient.

We stopped for 1 night. Easy to find off I-90. They were quick to call me when I had trouble with APP reservation. Electric and water hook ups. Beautiful private setting. We saw cows, pigs, corn and lots of big farm equipment.
Met 2 friendly RV neighbors in the morning before leaving. (Only 3 RV spots total )
We stopped by the farm store to buy beef and pork on the way out. (Honor system - you don’t see that much anymore! ) The family doesn’t live on site anymore. Didn’t get to meet them. I would stop here again!

Absolutely wonderful stay! So many amenities that make the stay easy: clothes line, rinse water, drinking water, 2 fire pits… one for cooking and one for relaxing with complimentary firewood, a swing, trails upon trails, and even more! Such a nice setup and a truly peaceful experience. Thanks for hosting us. We will be looking for a reason to back!
