Perfect get away from the city. We loved coming back here 5 years later and feeling so refreshed. It is simple but perfect for what you need to be away from everything. I particularly love the no cell service aspect.

Firstly, a couple of things that were the fault of nobody but should be noted. In June we had a bit of a heat wave. Nothing crazy, low 80s but the cabin, especially the loft, holds a lot of heat in. Very uncomfortable to sleep upstairs in those temps. Also, a lot of bugs on property, which made sitting outside a problem. So be aware of those.
The property itself is very cool and could be perfect with a little more attention. A well built tiny home with a short hike in that isn't strenuous but lets you feel away from it all. Nice deck with a fire pit. In more tolerable months, we could have enjoyed it more.
Our problem was it was too hot to relax inside and too buggy for outside, which again is nobody's fault, but the screen door and one window were damaged, thus not allowing for air flow inside. The keypad/lock was also not working at all from the outside. We could manually lock it from the inside, so not really a safety issue. Had to share the bathroom with wasps, but wasp spray is provided.
Overall an affordable place that could definitely be a gem in moderate temp months. A few small upgrades would do wonders. We are backpackers and were prepared to rough it, but a perfect storm of conditions caused it not to be the oasis we had hoped for

Loved this space to unwind and unplug. Went hiking around the land to some beautiful small bluffs. Saw lots of deer on the property and heard coyotes. The sunsets and sunrises were absolutely beautiful - the property has East and west facing windows. It’s not too bad of a walk from the car and area where I parked felt safe and secure. The wood burning stove made the cabin extra comfy at night with a cup of tea and a crocheting project! Will definitely be returning.

Wow, what a cool spot. It's nestled between two cornfields in a little woods/meadow area. Distance from parking is about 1/3 of a mile, a pleasant walk with the provided cart.
If you are a cyclist and you have a gravel bike, bring it with you ... this part of MN has an incredibly vast network of quiet gravel roads.
The structure itself is remarkably tidy, clean, and well-built. I spent a fair amount of time marveling at its features. It's definitely not just a shack, it's a very well-thought-out variation on the 'tiny house' theme.
My one regret is that I didn't bring flypaper - In midsummer, there will always be a few flies (never too many, just a few), and it's not easy to get them all out of the cabin before going to bed - then they buzzed around and woke me up in the morning. Not a criticism of the place or the setting at all, just a practical consideration for future guests.
Hosts were readily responsive with messages, etc.

I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the place. Seemed there was something attracting a massive amount of flies. When we shared the feedback it was unfortunately met with an excuse about it being fly season. Having grown up on a livestock farm this was not a usual amount of flies. We had to leave early and cut our trip short.

An incredible stay, and possibly the best place to disconnect. It doesn't get much cozier than the loft and the silence was much needed (except for some nearby hunting, but it stopped quickly!). Loved having the solar power batteries which kept our devices charged all weekend, even on a rainy day. All in all, a wonderful place to get away from your busy life and to enjoy yourself in privacy.

Chicken pot pies and tomato soup on the wood burning stove, natural sunlight, oatmeal and coffee in the mornings, several chapters read, crisp fresh air, clean home, great sleep, long walk through the woods, true crime podcasts, music, trivia, fun bathroom experience, naked snow angels, wine/beer, cheese & crackers, laughter, love, and memories.

Back 20 Minnesota~Hike in property
We had a great time at the Back 20! 3 of us slept in the tiny home and 1 used a tent just outside. The ground is very lumpy so it was hard to find a good tent space - but we knew that it would be going in based on the hosts description. We enjoyed hearing cows from a distance, coyotes at night, and finding deer and raccoon tracks in the morning on the trail. Star viewing was great, and we enjoyed the views of the cornfield and silo from the picnic table. We spent the day hiking at nearby Whitewater State Park, and evenings by the campfire.
