Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. Dry firewood can be purchased for $5.00/bundle. Our Private Peninsula site is our newest tent site (opened July 2025) and is our most premium site with easy water access, spectacular view, private port-potty and electricity if needed. Other than our house, which sits over 200’ behind and above the site, this is our most private site (no next-door campers). In addition, we have nice Airbnb in our basement that can be rented along with this site for other guests to stay if they are not up to camping in a tent (contact us for more info). This site sits on a small peninsula that juts out between the river and a spring-fed stream, offering a spectacular view. The site consists of an upper and lower level. While the lower level next to the river has easy access to river and limited shade, the upper level has plenty shade and a room to park a vehicle. Both levels have a spectacular view and their own fire pit area. The river in front of the site, which transitions from a nice sandy bottom to rocky rapids below, is easily accessible for canoes, kayaks & tubes. The river is typically 1-3’ deep in front of site. Just 25 yards downstream is nice fishing/swimming hole that is also accessible to other campers. The Private Peninsula has its own private porta potty (it’s older but clean!). For an additional $5/night (2-night minimum) we are able to provide electricity by running an extension cord from house (10-12 amp maximum) to power CPAP, fans, or charge batteries. NOTE: Vehicles with 4WD or AWD are required to get to this site as the drive to site is sloped and grassy. A two-wheel-drive vehicle can be parked near the entrance to the drive down to the site. TIP - Being we do not reimburse campers in the event of rain (unless campground is flooded or too muddy), we highly recommend campers take advantage of Hipcamp’s Weather Guarantee option when booking. With Minnesota’s unpredictable weather it allows you to get reimbursed for any days it rains over a specified amount, even if you choose to stick out the rain! Being at the far end of of our campground and our largest overall site, Site #5 is the most private of our five sites making it a favorite among campers. This site sits on a bend in the river offering a great view of the river both up and downstream. While the front of the site is 100' wide, the back of the site along the river is 180' wide, and the site ranges from 75' deep to 180' deep in the back corner. There is also a larger patch of mature trees creating a little more of a privacy barrier between the adjacent site. Site #5 is our most flat site offering the ability to park a camper(s) or pitch a tent(s) almost anywhere. This site is perfect for larger campers and will also easily accommodate larger groups. The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site and has a sandy bottom but may be a little muddy along the edges. Access to the river from this site is quite steep, but navigable for the more adventurous. Campers can find easier access to the river from an empty site or off the walking trail along the swimming hole upstream from Site #1. Site #3 is popular for those campers who want easy access to the river and closer proximity to the porta-potty satallite. This site has an upper and a lower level, although more subtle than Sites 1 or 2. The upper level can easily accommodate a larger RV. The slope to the lower level is gradual enough where one can drive pull in with a smaller RV or camper. At about 100' wide by 90' deep this site is very spacious and has good shade and easy access to the river. The river is easily accessible and is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site with a sandy bottom (edges of river may be a little muddy. TIP - Being we do not reimburse campers in the event of rain (unless campground is flooded or too muddy), we highly recommend campers take advantage of Hipcamp’s Weather Guarantee option when booking. Site #1 is a beautiful, picturesque, site located just below a set of rapids which provide a soothing background sound at your site, making it a favorite among campers. The site is about 100' wide and 75' deep and has the most trees of our sites keeping it mostly in the shade on those hot summer days. This site is located just a few yards downstream from the swimming/fishing hole. This site has an upper and lower tier to it with an easily walkable slope between. Campers can park and set up their tents on the upper tier and the lower tier has a table and fire ring right next to the river. Access to the river from the site is fairly steep but navigable for those who are more adventurous (there are better access points to river several yards upstream off the walking trail past the swimming hole). The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site and has a sandy/gravel bottom. Since this site has a slope between the upper and lower levels and more trees, it has a less usable space than our other sites so is best suited for a couple tents or a smaller RVs/camper. NOTE: While you won't ever have any neighbors camping on one side of you, being the gravel drive down to the campground passes by the upper level of this site, and the water spigot is located a few yards above this site, traffic from other campers passing by may be noticeable at times, especially on busy weekends (weekdays this is not typically an issue). For an additional $5/night ($10 minimum) we are able to provide electricity by running an extension cord from an outbuilding (10-12 amp maximum) to power CPAP, fans, or charge batteries. Site #4 is very spacious at 100' wide and 90' deep and is the most open of all our sites, making it perfect for accommodating larger campers and multiple tents. While it doesn't have as many trees as the other sites do, there are still enough trees to get some good shade. Site #2 has an upper and lower level to it. The slope between the two levels is gradual enough to drive a vehicle down next to the river. The site is about 100' x 100'D and offers plenty of shade and good access to the river. The rapids and swimming/fishing hole are just a short distance upstream from the site. The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of the site and has a sandy bottom, but may be a little muddy along the edges. Jeff is extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Loved the river and how quiet the entire campsite was. Would recommend over and over again. Beautiful site! My family absolutely also LOVED the magical lights of hundreds of fireflies every night.

What a great place, right on the river and only about an hour from Minneapolis! It was very peaceful, larger sites, spotless, good shade even in the more open spots, and a very nice guy showed me around and helped me get some firewood. I am a birder, and heard so many birds! In the morning, I sat with my binoculars for a bit, just taking it all in. I appreciate the “no alcohol“ rule tremendously as well, because it means that groups who want to party will look elsewhere and that makes me feel much safer booking this stay as a solo traveler. I will definitely be back!

I love the Double J campsite and they are clean. There was only our group so we got all the campsite to ourselves. Love that. My kids love the water stream and we got few fishes too. Was meet with Jeff and he is pretty nice . Will definitely comeback

The camping area is well maintained, large sites, the Zumbro river runs next to the campsites, it’s clean, we sat in the river to cool off, worked well. My friends and I agree we will go back. Worth it.

I absolutely loved staying here! The land is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice. The river is accessible right off the campsite (it would be for all of the other sites at this location with just a short bit of walking). My girlfriend and I brought river tubes and were able to walk them right into the river and float for hours. It was super slow and shallow, making it the most peaceful experience. You can float about 45 minutes downriver right from this site, no shuttle, and then walk your tubes back gently through the river and do it again. I'd love to come back and do it again. Not really any trails in walking distance from here, but great for chilling at the campsite and enjoying the river.

This was a wonderful campsite! Our favorite part was the access to the river from our campsite! The river was absolutely lovey for paddle boarding and wading in, it’s typically about 3’ deep but there are some very shallow rapids with small rocks so I would recommend some type of water shoes. The campsite was beautifully kept and tidy in every aspect which includes the portable toilet. I cannot wait to come back here!

This summer I was blessed with a number of weekends to prioritize camping with my elder pup. I’ve never camped alone before this summer and this trip to Double J was my first time ever tent camping alone. Haven’t been tent camping since I was in grade school. Perfect site! Dang HOT weather but I was at site 3 with enough shade. Bought an old used tent on Marketplace and set it up by myself, I feel proud! I was excited to walk in the river: Baxter likes the shore better, so i was kind of bummed. I’d def be comfy bringing kids here. Perfect water level to really play but not dangerous. Site 3 has muddy river bottom, should wear water shoes. A little tough to get from the water to the site but do-able. It’s too bad the river probably would wash away any steps Jeff might build! I did try to walk my dog in the river past site one to find the swimming hole but he wasn’t having it. Sites 2&4 were occupied too but everyone was quiet and respectful. Site 3 is closest to the biffy. Just a short walk up a slope. So nice to have trash can available too. Everything was clean. Normal amt of bugs, no ticks, just use a lot of bug spray. Lots of birds, wow! Super quiet and peaceful. Left early because there’s extreme heat warning and as soon as the sun came up it got to be too much for my dog. Fire pit was great! Bring your own fire tools though. There’s no poker at the site. Good quality firewood. Really enjoyed seeing the stars and fireflies too! Hope to come back!

REALLY GREAT site! You can’t go wrong with any of the campsites here. Wonderfully managed and very friendly hosts, do yourself a favor and camp here! Great site for kids also, a lot of open space for them to run around and really great if they like looking at horses!

Went with a few friends and stayed at site 3. It was a great time. The kids played in the stream and we met a few neighbors. This site is in a beautiful area and bugs weren’t bad on the 4th of July. Will visit again.

This place was so beautiful and peaceful. Waking up to the morning dew, birds singing and water flowing is the most relaxing. We saw an otter or beaver swimming in the river and it was the cute. And most of, NO MOSQUITO. We would love to go back with our family.

This is my 3rd or 4th stay and it was just as great as the others. The river was flowing something fierce and the kids spent two hours playing in the water. They didn’t want to get out! This is our go to spot on the 4th to get away from the fireworks. Just under an hour from the Twin Cities!

Our family of four loved camping on this property! It was the first time my two kids, aged five and three, had ever gone camping and we were worried about too much noise at a traditional campground, so we decided to stay here. This site was really quiet and private with no immediate neighbors, so it was perfect and relaxing. The views of the river were stunning and we had really easy access to get in the water. I recommend bringing tubes and paracord and lifejackets for younger kids because the river’s current can be a little fast. It was a really great experience overall and owner Jeff was very attentive to getting us firewood when needed. The site is spacious and shaded!

Awesome area and we would definitely visit again. The campsite was huge and right next to the river. Just gorgeous! Our kids had a great time floating the river and we enjoyed kayaking. It was a nice little vacation.

Site #1 was just as beautiful as the pictures show. Naps in our hammocks and falling asleep to the sound of the river was heavenly. The sites are super wide so other campers are not a bother. Having a clean porta-potty and access to fresh water was a huge bonus. This was our first Hipcamp experience and it will be hard to beat!

Jeff greeted us when we got there and he was very kind. The property seems to be very well taken care of! Being next to the creek was very peaceful, there were not very many bugs at all, and we could barely hear any of the other campers while we were at site 5. And we saw many fireflies at night, which was so cool!

Had an awesome one night camping experience at site three. Location is beautiful and the host was super nice. My 13 year-old son’s review: “I’d definitely come back here“, so what better review could there be? Firewood was plentiful and dry and we got to meet one of the horses up close. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful time tent camping on the lovely Private Peninsula. The directions were clear and easy to find everything, like water and wood. Which Jeff offered to deliver down to us. The river has a perfect entry spot on this site, plus it wraps around the area perfect for your tent. We had the luxury of the whole property to ourselves, we enjoyed walks along the river in the other campsites. An eagle flew through the river valley a few times which was fun to see. I would 10/10 return back to the Double J.

Jeff and Julie were great. It was a cute, peaceful campsite right along a nice river. Stayed two nights and had a great time chillin in the water and hanging around the site. Both were very accommodating and fun to talk with. Facilities were clean and well maintained. No complaints

We stayed on site 1. It was absolutely perfect. Private, Clean site, beautiful view and slept peacefully to the sound of the water. Jeff was a great host, greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. I would feel safe solo camping here.

This place was AMAZING!! The people were so nice and everything was very clean. We had site #4 and it was very spacious for a big tent, 2 people and a pup, and definitely for more people if you’re bringing a group! We will for sure be coming back!!
