Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. Dry firewood can be purchased for $5.00/bundle. Our Private Peninsula site is our newest tent site (opened July 2025) and is our most premium site with easy water access, spectacular view, private port-potty and electricity if needed. Other than our house, which sits over 200’ behind and above the site, this is our most private site (no next-door campers). In addition, we have nice Airbnb in our basement that can be rented along with this site for other guests to stay if they are not up to camping in a tent (contact us for more info). This site sits on a small peninsula that juts out between the river and a spring-fed stream, offering a spectacular view. The site consists of an upper and lower level. While the lower level next to the river has easy access to river and limited shade, the upper level has plenty shade and a room to park a vehicle. Both levels have a spectacular view and their own fire pit area. The river in front of the site, which transitions from a nice sandy bottom to rocky rapids below, is easily accessible for canoes, kayaks & tubes. The river is typically 1-3’ deep in front of site. Just 25 yards downstream is nice fishing/swimming hole that is also accessible to other campers. The Private Peninsula has its own private porta potty (it’s older but clean!). For an additional $5/night (2-night minimum) we are able to provide electricity by running an extension cord from house (10-12 amp maximum) to power CPAP, fans, or charge batteries. NOTE: Vehicles with 4WD or AWD are required to get to this site as the drive to site is sloped and grassy. A two-wheel-drive vehicle can be parked near the entrance to the drive down to the site. TIP - Being we do not reimburse campers in the event of rain (unless campground is flooded or too muddy), we highly recommend campers take advantage of Hipcamp’s Weather Guarantee option when booking. Being at the far end of of our campground and our largest overall site, Site #5 is the most private of our five sites making it a favorite among campers. This site sits on a bend in the river offering a great view of the river both up and downstream. While the front of the site is 100' wide, the back of the site along the river is 180' wide, and the site ranges from 75' deep to 180' deep in the back corner. There is also a larger patch of mature trees creating a little more of a privacy barrier between the adjacent site. Site #5 is our most flat site offering the ability to park a camper(s) or pitch a tent(s) almost anywhere. This site is perfect for larger campers and will also easily accommodate larger groups. The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site and has a sandy bottom but may be a little muddy along the edges. Access to the river from this site is quite steep, but navigable for the more adventurous. Campers can find easier access to the river from an empty site or off the walking trail along the swimming hole upstream from Site #1. Site #3 is popular for those campers who want easy access to the river and closer proximity to the porta-potty satallite. This site has an upper and a lower level, although more subtle than Sites 1 or 2. The upper level can easily accommodate a larger RV. The slope to the lower level is gradual enough where one can drive pull in with a smaller RV or camper. At about 100' wide by 90' deep this site is very spacious and has good shade and easy access to the river. The river is easily accessible and is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site with a sandy bottom (edges of river may be a little muddy. TIP - Being we do not reimburse campers in the event of rain (unless campground is flooded or too muddy), we highly recommend campers take advantage of Hipcamp’s Weather Guarantee option when booking. Site #1 is a beautiful, picturesque, site located just below a set of rapids which provide a soothing background sound at your site, making it a favorite among campers. The site is about 100' wide and 75' deep and has the most trees of our sites keeping it mostly in the shade on those hot summer days. This site is located just a few yards downstream from the swimming/fishing hole. This site has an upper and lower tier to it with an easily walkable slope between. Campers can park and set up their tents on the upper tier and the lower tier has a table and fire ring right next to the river. Access to the river from the site is fairly steep but navigable for those who are more adventurous (there are better access points to river several yards upstream off the walking trail past the swimming hole). The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site and has a sandy/gravel bottom. Since this site has a slope between the upper and lower levels and more trees, it has a less usable space than our other sites so is best suited for a couple tents or a smaller RVs/camper. NOTE: While you won't ever have any neighbors camping on one side of you, being the gravel drive down to the campground passes by the upper level of this site, and the water spigot is located a few yards above this site, traffic from other campers passing by may be noticeable at times, especially on busy weekends (weekdays this is not typically an issue). For an additional $5/night ($10 minimum) we are able to provide electricity by running an extension cord from an outbuilding (10-12 amp maximum) to power CPAP, fans, or charge batteries. Site #4 is very spacious at 100' wide and 90' deep and is the most open of all our sites, making it perfect for accommodating larger campers and multiple tents. While it doesn't have as many trees as the other sites do, there are still enough trees to get some good shade. Access to the river is slightly steep but navigable The site is pretty flat all around giving the ability to set up a camper or tent close to the river. The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of this site and has a sandy bottom but may be a little muddy along the edges. Site #2 has an upper and lower level to it. The slope between the two levels is gradual enough to drive a vehicle down next to the river. The site is about 100' x 100'D and offers plenty of shade and good access to the river. The rapids and swimming/fishing hole are just a short distance upstream from the site. The river is typically 1-3' deep in front of the site and has a sandy bottom, but may be a little muddy along the edges. It was clean, private, flat enough for two tents. It sits next to a flowing river and has a picnic table and nice fire pit. Jeff was responsive and cordial …I had plenty of wood. It was a very nice getaway and I have it listed as one of my favorites. The Peninsula has electric that Jeff runs down the hill for you.

Nice place to camp. The sites are nice and being along the river was very enjoyable. Jeff was very responsive and welcoming. All of the campsites are fairly close to one another so not very secluded, but still a great place. I recommend trying it out!

I had a good time at The Double J. The sites are very large. The area is expansive and clean. The firewood is priced very reasonably. There is nothing to prevent you from having a relaxing time while there.

We stayed at Site #5 and really enjoyed it! While it's not totally secluded — you can see the neighboring sites — it still felt peaceful and relaxed. The other campers were quiet and respectful, and the overall vibe was super chill. The site was clean, well-kept, and dog-friendly (huge bonus for us). The host was welcoming, friendly, and responsive, and you can tell they care about the space. We’d definitely come back!

Flying J was amazing!!! The property is absolutely beautiful, the host is kind and helpful. The facilities are well maintained and managed. I would highly recommend staying at Flying J Ranch. My girlfriends and my dog absolutely loved the experience too.

Nice clean campground, mowed and well maintained. Porta potty was clean. The sites are large but there’s isn’t a lot of foliage between them. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Riverfront access is easy, but is pretty mucky in spots. Great place to take the dogs when it’s hot to let them swim or frolick in the water.

Jeff and Julie do a great job at maintaining their property. Large open campsites with large mature trees. The peninsula is a great space to relax and listen to the river. Has it's own toilet. I will definitely be back. Thank you Jeff and Julie for another great stay.

So close to the city but it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from everything. Peaceful and a perfect getaway for a weekend or week. I would recommend The Double J to anyone! We caught a few small fish by the streams but had better luck at Zumbro Lake (which is closed by) for those with smaller kids with no patience.

We recently stayed at campsite #3 with our family of seven (2 parents + 5 kids), and it was such a great trip! The owner, Jeff, was incredibly friendly and the perfect host—he made us feel welcome right away. Most of our time was spent fishing, and we had a blast. We caught 4 bass, 1 red horse, 2 suckers, 4 trout, and plenty of creek chubs. The kids loved playing in the creek and exploring the area, and the views were beautiful. A quick note for future campers: sites #1 and #2 have great gravel/rocky creek access that’s ideal for wading and playing, while sites #4 and #5 are more on the mucky side. Site #3 (where we stayed) is the most level, which worked well for us with the kids to hang out and play on shore. All the sites do have some deeper pools along the shores if you’re fishing or just cooling off. Since we went on a weekday, we basically had the entire campground to ourselves, which was amazing. Jeff had a fully stocked firewood supply for purchase, and the outhouse was only a short walk up the slope. We didn’t try the water hose since we brought our own. At night, the stars were stunning, there were surprisingly no bugs, and the freeway noise faded away. Cell service was good with Verizon but spotty with T-Mobile. We grabbed bait from Kwik Trip nearby and also made a stop at the park to see the covered bridge and let the kids play at Castle Park. Overall, it was a fun, spontaneous little trip. Great fishing, and family-friendly. We’ll definitely be back!

Wow, what a little piece of heaven Jeff and Julie have. We had a small family reunion and each rented a campsite and had such a nice time. The river tubing was great for the younger kids-water shoes are a big plus with the large rocks. We will definitely be going back. Absolutely beautiful and hosts are really friendly.
