We loved camping at Camp Moonshadow. It was quite and very clean. The outdoor kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. But we did not use it much because we loved cooking over the campfire. Even so my husband would have loved to have a fireplace right by the tent site but after seeing the site was in the woods he understood. The camp also has a shower house which was great. The shower itself was a little small but it served the purpose. There was also a couple of portable toilets which I usually not like much but Robb and Jeanne kept them pretty clean.
The hosts Robb and Jeanne were been very nice and easy going. They had some different game sites set up, like horse shoe throw, Volleyball court and corn hole game. So we could have played all day long. A lot of attractions were been close by which was great because I did not like to drive far.
We really enjoyed the stay.
The RV site was perfect size for our teardrop camper and car. Robb and Jeanne were very responsive and welcomed us when we arrived. Lots of space to walk our dog, too. And a dog beach close by. The stack of dry firewood was a nice surprise. Perfect location to explore the area.
I LOVED camp moon shadow. They were such awesome hosts! We had beautiful weather while we were there, but we ended up leaving early because my 4yo was tired and it was our first time camping by ourselves. I am definitely coming here again!!!! Super kid friendly. ☺️
This was the third time I stayed at Robb and Jeanne's Hipcamp and I think I've loved it more each time. The beautiful trees and the stargazing are what stands out the most. My group had a wonderful time and we will be back!
It was a great weekend camping at Moon shadow camp. There were yard games which the kids enjoyed. The kitchen area and hot showers were perfect. Our camp site was set in amongst the trees and it was peaceful and quiet. We will definitely be back!
Our stay at Moonshadow Camp was wonderful! Robb and Jeannie welcomed us on our first night. You can tell that the hosts are camping lovers themselves from all the thoughtful and run touches reflected in their amenities and the site itself. The community kitchen that they welcomed us to use is so cute and well put together.
We absolutely love staying on Robb and Jeanne’s land for so many reasons. They are the most gracious hosts and are always willing to lend a hand or share a good chat. There is something so peaceful and restorative sleeping among the pines. It’s also easy to share the space with other campers! Can’t wait to return!
The land was beautiful and the space was clean and the area provided everything we needed for a cozy night! Host’s recommended a dip in Lake Michigan and than use the shower they provided and it was perfect! Comes with fully equipped kitchen with cute little lit area. Hosts were kind and informative!!!
Robb and Jeanne gave great suggestions for spots to eat and explore! Camp is perfect; it’s quiet, off the beaten path, has everything you need, and is obviously a much loved spot! My husband and I camped for a couple days following our wedding weekend for some time away together and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay!
Robb and Jeanne’s Camp Moonshine was quite the treat for our 5 night stay mid September. For starters, there are so many fantastic places to see nearby. Robb offered up a lot of suggestions of places to go and as a family that operates with no itinerary, this was greatly appreciated. We tubed the Platte River, hiked Empire Bluffs, explored Frankfort and its beautiful beach and downtown, climbed the dunes, explored Traverse City, and enjoyed the day on Esch Beach and Otter Creek. These were just some of our adventures nearby. Our kids had a blast! They have an outdoor shower that is so relaxing and the site itself has great privacy if you are looking to get away from the busy camping spots that are packed full of people. The next time we come we won’t pack as much because there is a little hill to bring all of your stuff up to which was quite the feat unloading. To be fair, I would say we don’t pack minimally. But you don’t really need to bring that much because their outdoor kitchen has everything you might need to cook. No campfires at your site but there is a large community camp fire which we frequented and met some other travelers (while my 5 year old talked their ears off I’m sure). This camp spot is so thoroughly designed with all of the smallest details being addressed. I’ve camped quite a bit in my life and I was so impressed! Robb was so friendly and we enjoyed chit chatting with him daily. Thanks Robb for a fantastic stay!
I really enjoyed my time camping at Camp Moonshadow. The entire space was beautiful, and Robb and Jeanne go beyond including what items we could possibly need. The clean toilets and showers were greatly appreciated as well. Will definitely go back if in the area again.
Once again we had a fabulous time at camp Moonshadow! The Shasta camper is just awesome! The camp area was super clean, and quiet, we can't wait to go back! (Hopefully this weekend!) Our hosts, Rob and Jeanne are just wonderful! We really appreciate them, and all the effort they've taken to make each stay magical!!
Can I just say " peaceful ". I had a great 3 days camping. This was my first hipcamp experience and I loved it. The outdoor shower was fantastic. Robb and Jeanne were fabulous camphost. My little 17ft camper fit perfectly in their rv site. I definitely will come back again. Thank you so much.
It’s a beautiful space, covered in the lovely pines. You have privacy at your site and then communal spaces at the fire and kitchen. The kitchen and hot shower are fantastic.
Awesome place. I came here from another hipcamp because i wanted to be able to shower one night which worked out well. I enjoyed the tree, they reminded me of electric forest. The kitchen was really convenient and stocked with anything you need.
We loved our stay at Moonshadow. Great location (off in the woods, but very close to all your needs) the grounds are beautiful and the kitchen came very handy. The communal fire inky was unexpected but we still made the best out of it& making friends with the other campers! The host was very kind and although we didn't need anything, he was available if needed. Would definitely stay here again :)
Robb and Jeanne were excellent hosts. Their land is gorgeous and the campsite was perfect. Great location for access to sleeping bear dunes trails and beaches. They even had some friends over and played music for the campers one night. Felt like our weekend was straight out of a movie. We will definitely be back!
Camping at Moonshadow was lovely! It was so nice to have a full kitchen and dining area set up. The outdoor showers (didn't use the inside one) was probably the nicest once I've ever been in. It was so nice to have the carts to bring your things up to your site. There were other folks camping, but there's so much space it feels very comfortable. The host was very nice and accommodating. We loved it here. A little slice of heaven.
We loved camping in our Sylvan Go at Moonshadow. Robb and Jeanne were the perfect host. Attentive, caring and knowledgeable about the beautiful area. They’ve created an amazing Hipcamp with full attention to details for their guest. Robb and Jeanne were available and present during our stay. We hiked, paddled, biked, shopped and heard live music at St.Ann’s brewery! The best location to visit a ton of destination spots. Highly recommend. We will be back.
Moonshadow is our go to spot to camp while in Northern MI. Has everything you need & more to have a smooth camping experience. Perfect blend of privacy & community with just a handful of campsites in the property.
We stayed in the RV site for 5 nights in our pop-up camper. It was a great spot that had everything we needed. The showers were nice and hot and the camp kitchen is a luxury! The location is perfect, a few things we explored - explored the dunes, hiked empire bluff trail, went to Traverse City, had a beach day at North Bar Lake, and enjoyed a nice dinner at St. Ambrose Cellars. Thanks to Robb and Jeanne for hosting!
An amazing camp site with great star gazing views! It’s so incredibly peaceful and welcoming on the land. I wish we could have stayed longer! We hope to be back someday!
