Wow can’t really say enough good things about this spot. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere that was so private, yet so close to stores and restaurants. The private beach area is absolutely gorgeous. And the camper spot is tucked away just right to where it feels like city stealth camping. Seems like you’re in the middle of nowhere but there’s 5 places to eat and a grocery store in easy walking distance. We are very thankful for the opportunity to stay here.

Howard is an excellent host! My stay was exceptional. Site is clean and quiet and peaceful. You can hear the waves from the site. Lake Superior is a short, pleasant walk, and the deck with chairs for my day or night on the beach. Thank you for sharing your property!

Such a special place to camp. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding to the nearby island and even had lunch over a camp fire on the big island. The toilet was clean and the site was very well maintained. We drove to nearby trails for hiking and enjoyed looking at shops in Copper Harbor. It was a very private area minus the drone that flew over our campsite the first day there. There is a small table provided and fire pit available. Would definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Little Trailer on Big Lake

We couldn't be happier with our weekend stay, the property had everything we needed and more for a beautiful, private getaway. Jacqueline was amazing accommodating us last minute, since we were arriving late on a Friday night. We can't wait to come stay again, and enjoy the beautiful nature and great hospitality

Me and my dogs had such a great time here. The spot is huge, you definitely don't need to worry about space. The beach is just a short little walk away. It felt totally private and secluded, I didn't see any other people during my 2 day stay. I would absolutely recommend and absolutely come back

Weekend Trip to Amnicon Adventures & Retreats

We enjoyed "roughing it" in the tent at Amnicon. Checking in and out was easy. The tent was as advertised, so we just made a decision to be okay with no electricity, running water, and a few bugs, and we had a positive experience. You do have to be prepared to walk 15-20 minutes out to the tent site, but the camp provided hand carts to transport supplies from the parking lot to the campground. We followed the sounds of the waves through a short path in the woods and found the view of Lake Superior on the shoreline, it was very peaceful and quiet, we LOVED it! You can't quite see the shoreline from your campsite, but you can hear the waves crashing on the shore from your tent, a great way to fall asleep and wake up. This was BY FAR the most affordable option for our trip in the Duluth area, so we were happy to do a little extra walking in order to make our trip to the area attractions possible for our family. If you have a budget and want to see Duluth, Gooseberry Falls, and Split Rock Lighthouse, check out Amnicon's Glamping tent!

Weekend Trip to Superior Sunrises

Superior sunrise is a fantastic location, right on lake Superior with your own private sandy beach! Its far enough away to escape the crowds of Tahquamenon (11 miles), but close enough to still enjoy the park. Its in town, so easy walking distance to stores and restaurants, yet it feels like you're tucked away in your own little oasis. We only stayed 2 nights but wished we had more time. A few things to note for the next visitor: Its best to back down the driveway of the property so your door is positioned towards the beach. But note that the entry is kinda long and has a slight curve. It could be a tricky if your not experienced. The ground is mostly sand, so after a rain it can be soft and a little muddy. They do NOT have sewer access, so I suggest you dump at Tahquamenon Lower Campground just 15 min away ($10). The picknick table and fire pit would have been great accept for the mosquitos were out. (Typical UP this time of year.) However, the breeze coming off Superior when sitting down at the beach was PERFECT and kept away all the bugs! So we spent an entire day enjoying the sun and beautiful views. Well worth the price. Highly recommended. So glad we did this instead of some packed campground.

5 nights at Gentle Breeze Camping

We had the place to ourselves. Both the shower and outhouse were well done and clean. We really appreciated the fact that there was a shower. We had a great view of the lake and were able to launch our kayaks from the dock.

4 nights at Lake Superior Beach Perfection

This camping spot is magnificent and secluded for all the peace you could ever ask for. A few things I did learn the whole area is sand so buy sand stakes so your tent stays where you put it. Also bring a rake to clean the pine cones away from where you will probaly place your tent and a shovel to clean out the fire pit. There is fire wood sold close to the campsite for cheaper then all the ones in town. I would glady spend the week at this site again as the views are breath taking and it's very chill.

4 nights at Superior Times Resort & Campground

This was a great campground! The sites were good size. Bathroom and shower room were clean and plenty of hot water! Everyone was so friendly and they had live music on Saturday.

3 nights at Medora Point

This hipcamp is AWESOME! Perfect in every way, from the secluded location to the ease in getting around the area. The kayak was amazing and we didn't get a chance to use the paddleboards but I'm sure they're great too. We had a wonderful time, enjoyed a good very early morning thunderstorm, and mostly perfect weather the entire time. We will definitely be back to this camp whenever we can! Love love love it!!

This camp site was amazing! We loved the open grass area for camping and the short walk to the beach. The private beach was a huge selling point- and it didn’t disappoint. It was perfect for our dogs! The owners were super communicative and had great instructions.

2 nights at Private Wooded Camping on the Lake

I travel 3.5 hours to get here and I’ve been here a number of times. This latest trip was full of eagle sightings my entire stay. A bald eagle and two juveniles best I could tell. All day everyday. Right over me as I st on the beach, repeatedly. In the adjacent trees on the site, repeatedly. Always visible while kayaking. My last visit last year was the northern lights. It’s always been an adventure. Plenty do do around you. Great drives. Great hikes. You just have to find them. Enjoy.

Weekend Trip to Nóatún Community Wooden Boat Works

We stayed two nights over the weekend. John welcomed us & showed us around. He is a great resource & has a wealth of knowledge regarding folk & indigenous traditions as well as the surrounding area. The space is great for straightforward tent camping. The tent site is on the lakeside of the property, quiet & protected from the wind. We were able to park in the driveway & use a wagon to cart our gear to the back. The beach & river are both in quick walking distance, which was amazing! Come prepared to be self-sufficient including drinking water. We utilized the portapotties at the beach access parking lot next door as well as the restroom at the marina, which also has a shower that we didn’t use. Both bathroom options are walkable & convenient. The resident goats are a hoot & so friendly. They even did well with our dogs over time. We would certainly camp here again!

Weekend Trip to Superior Lake Effect

You might be out of breath hauling your camping gear to the beach, but the views are worth every effort. Howard was a great host, providing enough firewood throughout the stay and giving enough privacy when needed. There’s also a nearby RV park with a shower and toilet facilities. Definitely will be back!

Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground! We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times and Resort was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula…the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! We began this resort’s transformation by replacing nearly all of the roofs. We then added the campground (we are most proud of the campground, as it did not exist prior to our ownership). In the winters we worked on the inside of the cabins, which is what we continue working on to this day. We have completely remodeled 3 cabins; Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Isle Royal. Smaller projects are being continually worked on in the other cabins. Slowly but surely, we are turning this property into our vision. The harsh winter of 2018/2019 led to two roof collapses and even more work!! In 2020, we designed and built rustic bungalows in our campground for nightly rental. Please, take a walk down Backwoods Alley and check them out. In the winter of 2020/2021, we built new custom showers in 3 cabins and replaced the old siding on Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. We think the new cedar shakes complete the rustic feel we are aiming for. In the spring of 2021, we added 4 new campsites and built a new bath house for our campers. We also ordered new windows for Tahquamenon Falls and Mackinaw Island, however due to the pandemic we did not receive them in time for installation (insert angry emoji). It has been so rewarding having customers return to this resort and commenting so favorably on the changes we have made! What will 2022 bring? Stay tuned.We could not have done ANY of the resort changes without the help and support of my parents, Roger and Marcia Hart. They sold their own home to live out here full time to be a part of the resort’s transformations. Without them, this dream would not have been possible. They truly define the saying, “labor of love,” as we often can only pay them with love. Our dream truly became their dream, as well.
