Unfortunately we were looking for glamping but ended up camping. This was no different experience than to pitch up your own tent and get an air mattress. She left us with 5 logs of firewood that was soaked and asked us to pick twigs from the forest. Rainy season so nothing that was dry and we were in the middle of no where. We were looking for glamping experience which is different. This is not glamping but regular camping!!! Honestly I could have paid 18-30$ and gone to a campground with my tent and air mattress. Listing is wrong and should be listed as camping. Not worth the money spent.

We absolutely loved Marielena’s site! She provided all of the necessities for a lovely stay. The nights have now gotten chilly but the tent kept us warm and cozy at night. It was nice having a shower and restroom at the site and we loved the biodegradable soap that Marielena provided which was made from the flowers grown on the property! We would love to come back again in the future!

Marielena and Luke were wonderful hosts and the accommodations were perfect. This was the first time Glamping for us and we were blown away by the stars at night and sounds of nature around us. We would highly recommend a stay at Sanctuary at Little Sand and could definitely see coming back next year. Thanks!

We loved staying at Marielena and Luke's tent! It's in a beautiful spot with easy access to Bayfield and nearby attractions. They were very easy to communicate with and provided a very cozy and thoughtful place to stay. Would definitely recommend!

Our stay at Little Sand Sanctuary was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled on private land, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The the tent had everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed. Outside of the tent is a small patio with an overhang to drink morning coffee and enjoy the sunsets. We enjoyed nightly fires and roasting marshmallows. It is a perfect location between Bayfield and Cornucopia. Little Sand Bay is just down the road for swimming with a beautiful beach. Would highly recommend.

This place is amazing!! We loved every minute. As campers, we needed a transition from pop up camping to a bit more comfortable bedding but still be able to cook meals and enjoy coffee while outside. This place was perfect to be outside every minute as well as fabulous night sleep. Shower was great too and composting toilet was a breeze. No bear sightings but we did have paw prints by the campfire.

Beautiful tent site stocked with all the essential basics sequestered away on an off grid flower farm with a view of Lake Superior. Rich forest experience, close enough for a short drive to beaches and town. Absolutely wonderful hosts. Grateful for this experience!

We stayed in a tent for 3 nights and absolutely loved it!! The host Luke was very friendly and cool. The tent is beautiful and comfortable. Nice quiet campsite. We will definitely be coming back soon!!

This stay was wonderful! The hosts were so accommodating and helpful. The beds were comfortable and we had a beautiful view of the sunset every night. It is located comfortably between Bayfield and Cornucopia. We loved it!

Staying at Marielena’s was a great experience! The canvas tent was very spacious and comfortable. Our site had a private outdoor toilet, shower (switch to turn on the pump on the wall - we missed this part and couldn’t figure out how to turn it on), and fire pit. There are comfortable beds and you are provided with towels and some campfire dishes. We had some massive storms, but the tent kept us dry and feeling safe even as the wind howled! If you are seeking some time off the grid in nature, this is the place for you! The tent had a small deck that was perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or playing a card game in the evening.
You are in the deep woods so there is plenty of wildlife noises (a lot of birds and some coyotes in the evenings) and mosquitos. Lots of mosquitos this year but if you use some bug spray with DEET, we barely noticed they were there!
The location is also perfect. Very close to Sand Bay and about 20 minutes to both Cornucopia and Bayfield.
Marielena and her husband are great hosts and willing to help out whenever needed! I highly recommend their land if you are looking to be fully engulfed in nature!

Great stay! Beautiful private campsite and wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed. The property has a great view and is close to town. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an upscale camping experience!

Marielena's glamping tent is amazing. It's outfitted with everything you need to hang out in the wilderness and still be super comfortable (and pack less). Her communication during and prior was excellent. Be prepared to feel like you are alone in the world (except the animals).

We loved our stay at Marielena and Luke’s farm! We stayed for three nights and could’ve stayed longer. Luke was very helpful when we arrived and Marielena volunteered to show us the flower farm but it ended up raining all day on our free day. The campsite was beautiful and the accommodations were great. The mosquitos and ticks were bad but Marielena warned us of that before accepting the booking and then had some helpful suggestions for repellent. We would definitely stay here again.

I had such an incredible birthday weekend with my young daughter. We reached out to Marielena to discover the weekend we had selected was outside their window of operation (they tend to shut down in the late fall/ winter). They made an exception and let us come! I am so glad that they did because some unforgettable memories were made. I am very grateful to both Marielena and her husband Luke.
They have a beautiful property. Luke showed us to the campsite and gave a detailed rundown about the area. He brought us firewood and checked in on us the first night to make sure we were able to get the fire going (it had been a little damp throughout the day). We felt safe and comfortable and yet still as thought we were quite remote in a beautiful forest.
Another great thing about their property, you get to feel the remote sense of camping while being a mere 30 minute drive to two small towns (Bayfeild & Cornucopia). There are excellent hiking trails to nearby waterfalls (Lost Creek trail) or you can take a ferry to Madeline island.
You can't ask for a better location or better hosts. Be sure to book this campsite!

Marielena and Luke have an absolute gem, and we are lucky that they have chosen to share it with us. Their land and flower farm is breathtaking, peaceful and secluded...exactly what we were hoping for.
Our camp area was comfortable and had everything we needed, including an incredible view over the Apostle Island Lakeshore, Lake Superior and Sand Island. The beds were comfortable and the tent had ample space to hang out in if there was bad weather (we were lucky to have perfect weather). The covered porch was great for reading or relaxing as well as prepping our meals. Our fire pit was right outside the tent and faced west for beautiful sunsets. There was a grill to go over the fire for cooking. A camp stove as well as basic cooking supplies were also provided, and Luke would bring freshly chopped wood for $6 a bundle whenever it was needed. The compost toilet was easy to use and clean.
The property itself was stunning. Trails led through forests and up a hill to their amazing flower farm, which we were able to explore and enjoy at our leisure. There was also a small pavilion with a table for cards or a meal, and even more stunning views on Lake Superior and the sunsets. At night all we heard were sounds of the forest...coyotes, owls, crickets, toads and the wind through the trees.
Marielena and Luke were wonderful as hosts. Willing to let you be, but also available any time you had questions or needed something replenished, and always happy to share about their land.

Beautiful, private spot that's off the beaten path but still close enough to Bayfield and Cornucopia. Tent was set up with everything we needed, was clean and had a great outdoor shower. Loved our stay!

The campsite is beautiful. The host is an architect, and it shows. In addition to the safari tent, there's a spot higher on the hill where they built a pavilion that overlooks Lake Superior. Unbelievable sunsets.
The hosts were exceptionally well-prepared and communicative. They made sure we had everything we needed, even providing soap made from flowers grown on the property. Quite lux for a camping trip :)

I loved this campsite! They had everything you could need—cooking equipment (pans, silverware, plates, biodegradable soap), bug repellent, and a super comfy bed. Can’t recommend this site more.

The site was secluded and on a beautiful property with trails, tons of wild raspberries, and a flower farm. We had so much fun exploring the local waterfalls and sea caves. The bugs were not bad at all for late July and there was an amazing view of the stars at night.

We loved our stay at little sanctuary. The site was quiet and peaceful. It was also close to great hiking, kayaking, and restaurants. We were coming from out of state so it was nice that they had almost everything we needed.

We are back home after a magical Thursday-Monday Sanctuary stay, and I am missing the rhythm of our days on Little Sand Bay. Our hosts’ grand canvas tent and thoughtful amenities (incredibly comfortable beds and bedding, bathroom, tables and chairs, campfire, deck, and so much screened space inside the tent to fully relax and lounge in) provide a true shelter so that our family of four would love to live all through summer there, soaking up Lake Superior’s South Shore. This was our 3rd visit to Sanctuary (we returned after 2 previous idyllic summer stays with our young children—now 8 yrs and 5 yrs old), and this time we got to experience the new site, atop a breezy hill with sunset and lake views! We all slept so well each night with cool night air and forest sounds like a lullaby, and the comfort of the shelter made a summer rainstorm especially lovely. Our hosts’ thoughtfulness and creativity shine bright in the experience their sites offer, and we feel very fortunate that they have chosen to share so much with us. Mil gracias!!!

Little Sand was solitude and nature! We had 40 acres to ourselves, and the tent was sturdy and comfortable to withstand a thunderstorm and provide us rest after exploring the Apostle Islands. It was just 2 miles from the kayak launch spot where we’d planned to kayak. Our hosts were so hospitable and respectful and helpful!

This was an excellent spot to explore the area, about 15 mins from Meyers Beach (sea cave kayak & hike start point) and 15 mins from Bayfield! Luke and Marielena were excellent hosts, very communicative and gave us awesome recommendations for the area. The tent was perfect for a girls weekend and we felt safe the entire time (although we got a little nervous when we heard from the local black bear!). The camping stove was easy to use (bring your own propane) and the grill was a nice option for campfires. Well stocked with kitchenware and cooking gear. Comfortable mattress and warm blankets, would recommend bringing pillows. The thermacell provided was great for the mosquitoes and we did have to watch for ticks. We would definitely stay again for a disconnected and comfortable glamping experience in this incredible area! Looking forward to another stay
