If you're looking for a wide-open space and a beach with rocks to pick through for hours on end, dark starry nights, going to bed and waking up to the sounds of Lady Lake Superior's waves rolling (or crashing!) onto the shore, falling asleep to frogs croaking and crickets singing, and a chorus of birds in the early morning and throughout the day plus a short jaunt by foot from your spot to the beach, Agate campsite is just for you. We've never camped anywhere other than Spirit Mt. while in the area and let me tell you, Agate does not disappoint. Plenty of room for kids to run around, room for yard games you bring from home, a beautiful look out spot and a trail down to the beach. The sunrises and sunsets are so beautiful, and it's easy to just sit on the sand and relax.
Directions to the site are very easy and it's a short drive to Superior and about a half hour to Pattison State Park where you can see Big Manitou Falls, the 4th tallest waterfall this side of the Rockies and only 2' shorter than Niagara Falls. Amnicon Falls isn't far, and the entire area is teaming with wildlife. Before we left we decided we'll be back again for a few days, we loved it that much. Quite the little gem this place is!
