"All are welcome here." We love sharing our beautiful space, and want you to feel safe and secure. Explore woods, trails, meadows. Peaceful, private, close to bike trails, Jay Cooke State Park and Duluth. Both cabins have their own special ambiance. These are comfortable, rustic cabins with NO running water (drinking water supplied). “Not "ADA" *Well-behaved, house-broken, supervised dogs, and older children welcome. *It helps us to know your ETA in advance and to update us so that we can plan our day as well! Once you are in the area, message us a bit before your arrival so we can meet you and set you up properly! If we miss you, follow the arrow on the wheelbarrow down the hill. Park at Dragon Loft at 1st right, and Raven Watch at very end of drive. *We have free range chickens and friendly border collie. Sometimes there's a dog staying at the other cabin. Wildlife is also in the area, so we require that dogs be supervised and leashed, for their safety, and our wild animal neighbors. No dogs may be left unattended in our cabins while you go out! Take your canine pal with you! Quiet hours: dusk to 7am. Also consider your dog's inclination for barking. We keep the peace and quiet of all of our guests in mind. *DRAGON LOFT has one double bed in a loft with steep ladder. Great for two people. Room for dog bed or kennel below the loft. Has a nice reading/coffee room, fridge, oil radiator, hot plate, WiFi, deck with table and chairs, patio with fire ring., grill outside. You have full use of the trails in our woods! *RAVEN WATCH is larger and comfortable for up to four people. Solar power, off grid (no WiFi). Double bed upstairs overlooking the pond, and another downstairs by the cozy wood stove. A cute little kitchen with a nice gas stove and wash area. Fire ring outside. Wood supply. Price based on two adults. Small fee for up to two more people +pets. Next to pond, creek and woods! Private porta-potty, no shower. We raised our children here, and over 45 yrs have planted trees and pollinator acres. We always enjoy meeting other travelers. While living and teaching internationally we looked for adventure, staying in a wide range of hostels in developing countries around the globe. We are now retired but still traveling and exploring off-season.

Dragon Loft Cabin with Private Deck

100%
(120)
Cabin · Sleeps 2
Hand-built rustic cabin near Duluth and Jay Cooke St Pk. 40 acres of trails, pollinator fields, pond, woods, with parking next to your cabin. Dragon Loft is nearer to house but has privacy. Reading/cooking area, deck/table/chairs, propane grill, patio/fire ring, wash basin, beautiful view. WiFi, stained glass windows, small fridge, hot plate, small microwave, hot water pot, coffee/tea packets, cooking utensils, oil radiator, fans, sand can for smokers on the deck. No running water. Private portable toilet. This cabin sleeps TWO (able) ADULTS. NOT a match for young kids, and not ADA! You must be able to climb the steep ladder to the loft. *Responsible teenager under a parent's supervision is fine. Keep in mind the space is tight. Book the other cabin (Raven Watch) for more than one bed or more than two people. Daisy (our friendly farm dog) is our good-will ambassador. She loves sticks and hikes. Please tell us if you or your dog have issues with meeting her. ;) Bring your dog bed/kennel for the main floor. Never leave pets alone in the cabin or tied up on our property. *There is no poop faerie. ;) Always leash up and be aware/respectful of wildlife; baby deer, nesting ducks, not to mention skunks, porcupines, sometimes bear, etc. Our free-range chickens are also part of the scenery! Ask for help if you need it, we will do our best for you. Ask questions, we would like you to be comfortable and to hear any concerns while you are with us. Away from your structure, there are communal spaces, such as trails in the woods, the meadow, outhouse, the dock at the pond, etc. You may see us out and about doing our own fire-pit BBQ, and we often welcome our guests for a chat if you are inclined. Daisy the border collie the "welcome committee" and. There may be some farm noise during the day, but should not interfere with your fun! Quiet hours (dusk to 8am) are designed for your comfort as well as ours. This is ultimately a family farm with some hazards, such as the pond, farm equipment, visiting kids, wild or domestic animals, etc. Please drive Slowly, when driving to and from your cabin. Take care, and be kind. *Send us a note and give us an estimated ETA, once you have an idea of the time. *See extra pictures for view/description of the drive to the cabin.

Raven Watch Cabin by the Pond

100%
(25)
Cabin · Sleeps 4
Raven Watch is a pretty, solar powered rustic cabin at Woods and Meadows Farm that has a comfortable futon bed downstairs next to the wood stove, and limited kitchen with a small propane stove and oven good for a pizza, a wash basin, etc. You can add up to two more people (four total). Up the sturdy (steep) steps there is another bed for two in the bedroom loft, with more screened ventilating windows and a beautiful view of the pond and trees surrounding the cabin. There is a little dock into the pond and a sitting area by the fire ring outside of your front door. Keep in mind that there is no shower or running water. *This site is not ADA accessible. You must also be able-bodied to climb the steps to the loft. Your cabin is remote, yet close to Duluth (35 minutes) and Jay Cooke State Park (15 minutes). It was built with trees from this property, using our own sawmill, the summer of 2021. There is a good gravel drive to Raven Watch, a quarter mile into the property next to our pond. Near your cabin is a picnic table and another fire ring above Clear Creek. Park by the cabin between the hayfield and pond. We have solar power for lights, plus a wood stove for your use on cool nights. Firewood, commercial drinking water, disposable eating utensils, coffee, tea, other basics provided. Dogs are welcome, and must remain on a leash. And you know the routine in regard to “doggie bags” :-) Plus be aware while you are on hikes… This neck of the woods has porcupines, the occasional bears, predators, deer, skunks, and all kinds of interesting things that a doggy might love to chase! We mostly just want the wildlife to be kept in peace, but we want your dog to have a good experience as well. :) —We also have free-range chickens that we would love to keep alive. (We have lost some to guest dogs before…) *Guests will be charged extra cleaning fees for any damage or indoor dog accidents; i.e. peeing on furniture, carpet, or sleeping in beds! *The solar battery won't reliably power a fridge, C-PAP, rice cookers, heating pads/electric blanket, or any heating elements!! -but you will have light for the evening and enough power to charge your cellphone and a radio. (Our solar inverter has been burned out twice by people who have broken the heating element rules! Very expensive for us/you to replace.) Please enjoy your rustic stay without relying on these items! We will meet you when you arrive to show you around, and there is camp info in a folder at the cabin. There are two cabins on the property, and yours is furthest from the house, with trails into the woods for you to hike. Enjoy! *Kindly keep in mind that space (for dogs plus humans) is limited if there are more than two adults. We ask that you bring kennels or dog beds... (no dogs in bed!) Thanks! -Do not leave your dog alone in the cabin if you go out and about. We all want to avoid damage or sad and anxious dogs! ;) *This property is NOT recommended for small children.
