Weekend Trip to Circle M Farm Stay: Camp or Glamp

Family with a 7 year old and 4 year old: Circle M farm cultivates a cozy and inviting atmosphere to enjoy the simple things in life. Our weekend time was filled with endless swinging on swings, relaxing on hammocks, running around the farm, interacting with the animals (cats, dogs, sheep, pigs and chicken), playing carpetball, building campfires and enjoying coffee. Our kids also loved the playground, sand box and sprinkler during the afternoon heat. Kriss herself is an outstanding host and radiates warmth and friendliness. She has anticipated every need and has you covered. Fresh baked pastries, coffee and breakfast items welcomed us every morning on her porch. Both the indoor bathroom and outdoor shower were immaculately clean and stocked with items. We booked this weekend with no plan other than unplugging, relaxing, and spending time as a family. This is the first trip we have been on since we’ve had kids that we actually found RELAXING as our kids entertained themselves and we felt safe having them wander unaccompanied. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous property with us!

My friends and I had a great time camping at Eagle Point! Honestly, one of, if not the most beautiful campsite I have ever stayed at. Having the firewood provided and a row boat at the ready served us great for cooking and fishing throughout the weekend. Mike also stopped by to check in and see if we needed anything, and that was much appreciated! Fortunately, they had already provided everything they we needed and we were all set. Could not recommend this site enough, and we are hoping to return next year!

The site was clean, well-maintained, and quiet except for birds and other animals. Definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys nature without the crowds. I can't wait to go back once the flowers are blooming to see the flower farm in full bloom!

We enjoyed our stay at the waterfront campsite near Road America. We fished, made use of the paddle boat, and did a short hike in the Kettle. Rick was a great host answering questions, making suggestions, and even helped try to fix our furnace.

Weekend Trip to Two Bees & A Bud, Flower Farm Camp

If you’re looking to feel like you have the entire woods to yourself, this is an excellent choice. Christine is a wonderful host- I arrived and my fresh farm eggs were waiting for me on the campsite picnic table! I brought way too much gear for a single overnight stay, but there is a handy heavy duty wagon right next to the grass parking area. It’s about a 5 to 7 minute level / easy walk to the single campsite, which is HUGE. We only used a small 3 person tent, but the pad could accommodate a mobile barracks. There’s a fantastic fire pit surrounded by several log seats, and firewood was provided! We feel asleep to a wonderful chorus ensemble including frogs, coyotes, and an owl. The campsite sits only a few hundred feet from a decent sized pond / lake- which contains so much wildlife! We woke up early and from our lawn chairs we saw trumpeter swans, a few common mergansers, herons, a great egret, ducks of all sorts, chipmunks, several deer, a muskrat or two, sandhill cranes, and a turkey! I will definitely be camping here again in the future and hopefully taking advantage of some of the unique offerings at this site (the eggs were delicious)!

Weekend Trip to Northern Glamping Camp

Bri's cabin was an amazing little getaway. My wife and I had an amazing stay. The facilities and amenities were very clean and inviting. The bar can be a bit loud but is expected considering it was Memorial weekend. We stayed Saturday thru Tuesday. Sunday thru Tuesday were very quiet and peaceful. Thank you to the host. There were a couple bears spotted in the area, to be expected because we are in nature, and they were sure to let us know. Zero issues with wildlife. It was chilly at night but with the provided heater and heated mattress pad we were plenty warm and super comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

1 night at Butternut Lake Camping

My girlfriend and I went here with our dog to see how the pup would do camping, especially in a car, and it was a great place for that! It has a lovely view and having firewood, cooking equipment, row boat, and a private portapotty was a definite bonus! Only drawbacks for us had to do with the neighbors, we didn’t see them looking at us or snooping, but there isn’t much privacy. We did have a neighbor’s dog wander into our site while we were eating, while the doggo was friendly, something to keep in mind if your dog doesn’t do well around others. We fully plan on booking this spot in the future and would highly recommend booking

We had the most beautiful and perfect campsite at Eagle point! It was spacious with trees, beautiful, large pines, lots of birds singing, loons talking, owls hooting! This campsite was secluded and easily fit our two campers into this one site. The kids had a fantastic Learning, how to row a boat, that was provided with the campsite! The host provided a Weber grill, firewood, along with kindling, and two tables with chairs. The host popped in to check to see if we needed any more firewood, which we didn’t as there was a large stack! But how very nice! The site also has a private Porta potty. We will definitely try to come back and would definitely recommend this site.

We had the most wonderful stay at Circle M Farm this past weekend. We had an amazing time hanging out with the dogs, pigs, sheep, chickens, and cats who loved sitting on our laps while we bird watched on the porch or relaxed around the campfire. The property is beautiful and well kept, and all of the thoughtful touches like fresh, homemade baked goods in the morning made it the perfect stay. Kriss was the best host, super responsive to all my messages and so warm and welcoming throughout our stay! We will most definitely be back.

For the adventurous, a private trail leads to Happy Creek Flowage, a 10-acre lake ‘bout a half-mile hike away (30 minutes round-trip on foot). It’s a bit of a trek—expect hilly, mountainous terrain—but a paddle boat awaits for a peaceful float. We are working on getting a dock back there but until then expect to wear high boots or to get wet walking to the paddle boat. There is no public access means it’s all yours! ATVs or wheelers can also zip along the trail for faster fun. The area’s brimming with summer adventures—fishin’, hikin’, foragin’, golfin’, or ATV ridin’ on nearby trails. Copper Falls State Park, just 6.5 miles north, offers stunnin’ views, while Drop Tine restaurant in Cayuga (3.5 miles south), serves up a mean fish fry and burgers.

Esker Ridge

A hidden gem nestled between the comforts of lake living and a backdoor to the expansive Nicolet National Forest. Recreational opportunities are year-round, including recreational vehicle and fishing opportunities on and around the 417 acre lake flowage. The private +2 acre property has panoramic views of the secluded headwaters opening into the main flowage. Set back off the main lake, wildlife viewing, especially birding, is the best I have experienced. Neotropical migratory bird species are abundant in the Spring as well as a resident breeding pair of Trumpeter Swans, many ducks(!), Bald Eagles, Loons, Sand-Hill cranes; many woodpecker spp. including Pileated; Screech, Barred and Great horned owls. Some of the more entertaining wildlife include deer, otter, beaver, muskrats, red squirrels and the occasional wandering black bear (no problem bears). In the Spring, the esker's neighboring wetlands come alive with many frog and turtle species. For me, the allure of the wild still dominates here. The esker provides an amazing vantage point with nearly 270 degree panoramic views of the flowage. From the Gazebo, take one of two paths to the overlook before descending down to the lakefront. In 2021, I plan on adding a short pier but the natural rocky peninsula already provides excellent access into the deeper thalweg, an excellent fishing/ swimming hole! All pontoon and fishing boats can be accommodated here. Learn more about this land:The property is located towards the end of a Forest Service road (Meadowlark Lane) with one year-round resident at the end. There's a large turn-around for trailers and larger vehicles. Neighbors are well separated, located over the ridgeline and out of earshot. The property has a relatively wide, flat 100 foot driveway to the cabin from the road. Easy access to the cabin from the driveway. The cabin is surrounded by mature maple/birch/balsam/hemlock forest and several wetland/tamarack bogs (very diverse terrain bordering the lake). At the base of the cabin there's a small pier for direct kayak and canoe access. Larger boats can easily dock on the lake-end of the property, a short walk from the cabin. From the natural driveway a concrete paver staircase leads up to the main campsite (see pics). The campsite includes a 3 season 14 foot enclosed gazebo with electricity. Essentially, the land is a 2 acre esker (kettle moraine feature) that serpentines through the woods to Reservoir "Pond" lake system. Excellent views of the lake! The Flowage has headwaters from McCauslin brook and connects 3 lakes totaling 417 acres. Maximum depth 27 feet. Fishing and Pontoon boat docking on shoreline. The closest boat launch is on Horn Lake which is passed on the way to the cabin and approximately a half mile away as the crow flies. Plenty of areas for tenting/ wall tents, 2 picnic tables (one near the cabin and the other by the gazebo), and a separate outhouse with toiletries at the top of the hill. Attractions in the Area: Sleepy Hollow Minature Golf on Nicolet Rd (just East of Horn Lake) Sunset Resort of Townsend located on the SE end of the flowage. Accessible by boat or short drive from camp on Burnt Dam Road. Hill Crest Lodge Supper Club on Nicolet Rd (you'll pass on the way in) 4 Stars. Birch Hills Resort and Bar (over the bridge from Hill Crest) 5 Stars. Located on a 1/4 mile long dead-end road (except Bob Lake West) on a 90 acre lake and only 5 minutes from the Chippewa County Forest! The Chippewa County Forest (over 10,000 acres) Hickory Ridge Trailhead is located about 5 miles away. You can enjoy miles of hiking, biking, ATV or horseback riding trails. Trails wind past small lakes and beaver ponds, as well as spectacular vistas and abundant wild life. LIST OF SITES (all of our sites now include a portable toilet, firewood, fire ring, water, power, picnic table and/or chairs). BIRCH Waterfront is named for the beautiful birch trees that frame your view of the lake that also includes soothing evening loon sounds :) It is our medium size campsite with a level gravel and grass pad with lakefront access via the long wooded dock and an included row boat for fishing and boating. EAGLE POINT Waterfront is a favorite because it is the most private, surrounded by trees and is on a elevated waterfront lot with steps down to a dock. This site has a canoe and a row boat and the best spectacular sunset views. The eagle's nest is in a tall pine tree above the steps! BOB LAKE WEST Waterfront is our only site that is not on this dead end road. It is located on the west side of the lake near the boat landing. This site has a bonus small storage shed which could be a cool kids cabin. It is partially wooded elevated site with stunning sunrise views. WOODED RUSTIC is a non-waterfront campsite for both tents or RV's that has been updated to a site with power and water and includes access to the lake and a row boat at our common access which is only about 200 yards down the road from this site. Twin Lakes has a cute Main Street with lots of fun to be had. There are also several restaurant/bars on Lake Mary or Lake Elizabeth. Lake Elizabeth can be accessed by a small waterway that connects the lakes. Kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes can easily float under a lower foot and car bridge. Larger and taller motorized boats cannot move between lakes. This camping site offers such a fun and inexpensive way to get outdoors this summer!

Please be respectful of the nesting loon platforms and other lake owners. Please do not use their floating rafts. Enjoy the numerous surrounding lakes such as Chute Pond, Maiden Lake, Boot Lake, Townsend Flowage and more! Bagley Rapids is minutes away. Located near Townsend, Mountain and Lakewood which provide multiple dining options, bait shops, gas stations, and more. Please be respectful of this land. Please do not tamper with the campers or shed. Please feel free to use any wood you find already down in the woods or take from the numerous stick piles found near the campsites. Please do not use the cut firewood. The wood in the stick piles has been stacked for your use and is good dry wood that will provide you with hot fires. We do not even use the cut wood in the summer, spring, or fall. My young children and I have worked hard to clear those sites and cut wood for our own personal use in the winter so please respect the effort we have put in so we can continue to enjoy our land and share this beautiful location with others. There is no electric or water so please plan your trip accordingly. Please leave no trace and carry out what you bring in. There are no toilets available so you will need to provide your own portable toilet. Peeing on a tree is fine, but no pooping in holes. If you chose to drive down to the campsite by the creek you are doing so at your own risk as vehicles have gotten stuck trying to get back up especially after a rain fall and had to get towed out. It is recommended you park up on top and walk the short distance down. ATV/UTV are fine going down to the creek campsite. The long driveway has plenty of room for multiple vehicles, trailers, and boats. Absolutely no hunting or shooting of guns is allowed on the property. Bears have been seen on the property so please use bear safe camping practices. If your children use the ninja line or hammocks on site they do so at their own risk and we are not held liable for any injuries that may occur. You may notice a zip line. The seat will be removed and is not to be tampered with or used. Quiet time is between 10pm-6am. No illegal activity (including fireworks) are allowed. You may see us up there but we will respect your privacy and space. We welcome company and conversation but also respect you may prefer to be left alone. A Vegetable & Flower Farm

Our little chunk of paradise is about 8 acres. It is a diverse piece of land allowing for micro environments. A hilltop with an orchard a few terraced garden beds, about an acre or so of wooded area with a waterway down below, and another 1.5 acre of garden, intermixed with pasture, out buildings and our home. The land is surrounded by 120 acres of adjacent farmland. Across our street is wetlands and woods. Adjacent to the 120 acres of farmland is another 80 acres of public hunting land. We are blessed to live so close to nature without a view of a neighbors house. Stars, crickets, frogs, woodcocks in spring, hummingbirds and sandhill cranes in summer, and more all in abundance at our Willoway Farm. We bought our home in 2006. Before then it was in the same family that settled there in 1840s-1850s. At one time there was a log cabin, then they built our cream city brick farmhouse in 1893. The farm in the 1980s and before was a dairy farm. When we bought it half of where you see the garden was either grass or part of the conventional farm adjacent to our property. Our farm logo is taken from the builder of the barn-many pioneer barn builders often signed their barn work with a symbol. We liked the symbol and kept it to use as our own yet honor the builder of our barn. We have great appreciation for those that built with such beautiful large trees and all by hand. The Produce Wash Building is a timber frame built by Dan our farm owner and farm doer. The timber frame was made from reclaimed timbers and reclaimed barn siding, the shingles were made from scratch by Dan also. Learn more about this land: Willoway Farm is a small scale organic vegetable &and flower farm established in 2007, located 35 minutes north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It's situated upon a glacial hill over looking a Milwaukee river flowage to the south and the kettle moraine state forest to the northwest. Our 8 acre land with cut flower & heirloom vegetable garden is surrounded by over 200 acres of uninhabited land, ( Farmland & state wild land). We are just 5 minutes from hiking trails into the state forest, which is beautiful all times of the year! A 55 acre secluded lake with public access is only 1.5 miles from Willoway - we hear the fishing is good. New now is across the street is a 283 acre land trust- Biehl Nature Preserve on Lake Twelve. The roads near the farm traverse through mixed forest and farm land with only slight traffic offering exceptional bicycling! The camp space is primitive and private yet offers gentle vistas upon the surrounding landscape with often both amazing sunrises and sunsets - situated upon the high point of the farm nestled in a young apple orchard. We have a spacious outhouse on site. We feel so fortunate live and farm where we do & love offering the natural beauty it offers to others. Our garden is lush with flowers, herbs and vegetables great for observing our plethora of pollinators. There are so many places to visit within 10 miles of our Campsite. A favorite is Riveredge Nature Center only 9.6 miles offering 3 miles of trails including 1 mile along Milwaukee River. Riveredge Nature Center has vast landscapes with so many lovely native wild flowers.
