I loved tenting at Bad River Point! The falls were beautiful and so peaceful to relax next to. I loved that Dean provided a safe space for food storage and the outhouse is close to the campsite. There are gorgeous trails throughout the property. What a perfect way to relax in nature 😌

Weekend Trip to Bad River Wilderness

We came for my 29th birthday as a crew of about 6 people and 2 dogs. This is a super special spot. If you're looking for a remote and rugged spot right on the water, this is the one! We swam in the river, hung out for hours at falls #2, and paddled up river a bit at sunset. One thing to note is there is room for 3 small-ish tents max, and fairly close together. Its a small but great site for a group. Definitely rugged! A true hike-in site where even a wagon wouldn't be a help. If you're up for the fun challenge of getting there like we were, its ideal!

This was such a beautiful, peaceful, secluded site. We were able to bring our dog who needs a quiet environment and it was perfect. Dean was a really communicative host and we followed all his directions which were very helpful. We will definitely look to book this site again in the future!

I absolutely loved Deans property! We stayed at Cayuga falls campsite and it was definitely worth the hike and the extra work. The trails were so much fun to hike and explore. You can tell Dean puts his heart and soul into these campsites, between all the signs and different colored marked trails to match the campsites, the grill over the fire pit, the canoe he leaves for people to use, and the attentiveness to any questions you may have with answers in a timely manner. The falls were beautiful and so nice to listen to at night. We tried visiting copper falls but unfortunately there were no dogs allowed, so we went to potato river falls and we were really happy we did, because it was truly an unexpected hidden gem. We can’t wait to visit again!

Perfect outdoor get away, right outside of Bayfield. Yurt was perfect - loved making a fire in wood stove and having coffee on the porch. We heard lots of wildlife - owls, coyotes and grouse. Hiked the Meyer’s Beach trail, and saw sea caves. Ate dinner at St James social, had great burgers at Morty’s Pub, mimosas and grilled cheeses at Pier Plaza. Perfect weekend!

Carla & Sam are just so fantastic. The TH was clean and welcoming, had everything you need and nothing you don't, and we're so welcoming with orientation. They clearly love their land and space, and gave us extra hand holding in finding a beaver pond on the property! I'd love to stay here again

Dean's land had everything my husband and I wanted for a spontaneous camping trip. Beautiful scenery, hiking trail on site, right along a river, and freedom for our dog to roam around. The added bonus was a canoe for us to use! The campsite was very clean and well kept. Dean was very communicative about the weather and campsite conditions, graciously making accommodations for us to be more comfortable. We loved the land and couldn't have asked for more!

3 nights at 'Old World' Farm By Lake Superior

Very private cozy tiny home in the woods. We were fortunate to catch some snow at the end of the season and ski the trails on the property. It was our first time in the area and Carla Jo was very helpful with recommendations for things to see and do.

We loved our winter adventure in the yurt. We appreciated that we had little to no cell service where we were at(AT&T), had the landline phone in case of emergencies, and that pretty much everything that's needed was provided. Ashley was great in answering a couple questions beforehand, and everything was clean and well cared for. Our kids (3 & 5) absolutely loved the yurt and being there. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Bad River Wilderness

Just a quick 2 night trip on a cold weekend in November. Very nice, secluded site right next to the river. Well-kept dock and sitting platform. Plenty of space for our smaller camper and bug tent. Lots of firewood available, chopped and ready to burn (for a fee). Sturdy picnic table, lots of trees, some flat space for other tents and stuff. Expect a very primitive toilet and you won't be disappointed. It rained pretty much the entire weekend we were there, so we didn't get to explore the river, falls, or any of the trails. Hope to come back when the weather is much nicer. Overall, a beautiful, peaceful campsite, tucked away in the wilderness. 4.5 stars!

Update: This property was just awarded 2nd place for 2024 as the 2nd best Hipcamp in Wisconsin out of 252 Hipcamp's based on reviews and ratings! Thank you to all who have enjoyed this amazing property and provided a review or rating!!! On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been abandoned since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.

I work as a hospice nurse and help out on the farm when I am able and we have 2 boys, Arlo and Owen. We keep busy! We offer 3 rustic rentals onsite, but each is very private and secluded. We own a 39 acre property on the east side of Ashland, WI. There are three primitive/walk in (no water available, no facilities, no tables) campsites available and a couple of trails. More trails to come. Enjoy the night sky as many, many stars are visible. The property is mostly wooded and can be wet in spots during the spring. You are allowed walk the site off trail at your own risk. Please park your vehicle as close to one side of the driveway as possible as not to block the driveway so if needed the tower company has access to the tower. Please do not walk in the cleared area near the front of the property to the right of driveway/access road, as this area has been planted with Christmas tree saplings. There is a dedicated campfire square in the site. Please do not burn outside of this area. There is plenty of dead and down firewood to collect in the nearby woods – some may need to cut to size. There are no garbage cans on site, so please pack out what you pack in. Hike to the sites: Campsite 1 – Near County Highway A – just past gate. The campground is spread out over 5 acres of forest that you’ll hike into from Bresette Hill Road. After parking at the trailhead, you’ll gather your bags and hike into your glamping site. The trail winds through the woods, leading you first to a valley where the seasonal Clark Creek runs through in the spring. The first two campsites are on the other side of this valley. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to reach the secluded campsites. The third site is a bit farther into the forest, the little A-frame cabin, Anchor sits on the edge of the spring-fed Brickyard Creek that flows year-round. We have many plans for the property and depending on when you stay, the campground will be in various stages of development. The campsites, trailhead / parking area, and trails are scheduled to be completed in early spring. We hope to add amenities such as a camp sauna and screened-in gazebo later in the 2024 summer / fall.
