Ultra private secluded island paradise located on lovely Madeline Island with 300 feet of lakeshore and stunning views of the coveted North Channel. Seven of the 22 Apostle Islands are in view on a clear day and not one electric light is visible from the property at night. Enjoy dramatic fog while you sip your morning coffee, frequent sailboat regattas during the day, and stunning double sunsets as they reflect across over 5 miles of open water. (ps. this reflective effect is also in play for the northern lights if you're lucky) Amenities: ZERO! Well, other than two fire pits and a propane grill (BYO propane if you want to use that) Expect a lumpy lawn with space for up to 8 tents located right on top of a 100 foot cliff leading straight down to lake superior. If needed, showers, bathrooms, etc. are located 1.2 miles away at Big Bay Town Park. (no entry fee required) There you can also find the best beach on the island and canoes for rent if you'd like to explore the massive lagoon behind it chalk full of fish. Pack in, pack out. Enjoy!

On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site. There is no leash required for good pups. If your pup is aggressive with other dogs or people please leash them when on the hiking trails. If your pups would stay in your campsite no leash is required. Other campers may be hiking past your campsite on the trails that is still over 100 feet away from others campsites. You may run into others on the trails where others dogs may not be leashed. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs even if yours is on leash if you can’t control them please muzzle them. This property is for sale if you may be interested. Please ask and I’ll send you the details.

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, what a unique name and deservedly so as the forest itself is as diverse and attention getting as it’s namesake! The deep northwoods of Wisconsin offers a ton of hiking, biking, and camping to get stoked about; there’s 800 miles of hiking trails alone. But if you’re looking for a truly unique outdoor experience, try offroading or cross country skiing old military roads in the winter. There’s stunning Lake Superior views from St. Peter’s Dome and 70 foot Morgan Falls is sure to cool you off on a hot summer day. We dig the Quartz Trail where you can see giant quartz deposits discovered by the Native Americans who used to inhabit the area. There’s plenty of camping options to make this a wilderness weekend (or more) and with over 1.5 million acres to explore, we doubt you’ll be running out of rad things to discover!

Located just down from Bayview Beach, our property sits nestled between Lake Superior and the Onion River, which runs through the property just behind the cabin. You will have a private beach on Lake Superior all to yourself. While neighbors may be around from time to time, especially on weekends, you will not have to share anything but the sound of waves hitting the shore and birds chirping as the sun sets in the west. You can set up a tent by the cabin or on the beach side in the grass or sand areas—or even on the beach itself if you'd like to catch a sunrise. There is also room for an RV, teardrop trailer, or camper van, if that's what you'd like to bring. A fire ring and firewood are provided, along with some chairs. Kayaks are available upon request, but you are responsible for safe operation and for understanding when weather conditions are not suitable for their use. At this time, the cabin is not included or open for use, nor is there power available for outside hookups. There is no running water (besides the river and Lake Superior), and no toilets on site. However, you will pass public toilets on your way in—they are roughly 90 seconds away by car. Otherwise, you are responsible for bringing a camp toilet. Pets are welcome but must be leashed when others are around and well-behaved. Please dispose of waste properly and respect the natural surroundings. We've had this property since my siblings and I were kids, so please be respectful of the property and neighbors and treat others as you would like to be treated in return. You should not be bothered by anyone. Please practice pack-in/pack-out and clean up after yourselves. Beyond that, nearby attractions include the city of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands, a short 15-minute drive away. Welcome to Happy Creek Hollow, your cozy private hideaway in the Northwoods! We’re excited to share our 30-acre slice of paradise—perfect for creating unforgettable memories with family and friends. A small bunk cabin now sits on the property, but the site remains fully open for tent camping or travel trailers. Tucked away yet easy to access, this one-of-a-kind retreat offers total seclusion with no neighbors in sight. You’ll have the entire 30 acres to yourself, surrounded by wild, untouched woods. There’s plenty of room to spread out with tents or park your camper/travel trailer. Spend your days relaxing around the campfire, exploring the beautiful Penokee Mountain area, and soaking in the peace of the Northwoods. Adventure on the property: A private trail leads about a half-mile (roughly 30-minute round-trip hike) to Happy Creek Flowage, a peaceful 10-acre lake. The trail is hilly and rugged—true Northwoods terrain—but well worth it. A paddle boat is waiting for calm floats on the water. ATVs and side-by-sides can also use the trail for quicker access. We’re working on installing a dock, but until then, plan to wear high boots or get your feet wet reaching the boat. The lake has no public access, so it’s all yours! Local DNR folks say there may be trout in the lake—we’re looking forward to confirming that this summer. Nearby attractions: Little Town Coffee Truck - 4 mi: ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC COFFEE, located at the Mellen Police Department Parking Lot. Copper Falls State Park - 6.5 mi: stunning waterfalls. Drop Tine Restaurant in Cayuga - 3.5 mi: serves up an excellent fish fry and burgers. Meder Lake - 1.2 mi Long Lake - 2.6 mi Lake Galilee - 4.3 mi English Lake - 10 mi Many other lakes within a 20 minute drive. Ironwood, Michigan - 40 min drive. Please note: Cell service is spotty (especially for AT&T), so plan accordingly. The bunk cabin will be unoccupied during your stay, giving you full privacy on the property. If you’d like to rent the bunk cabin in addition to the campsite, just reach out—I’d be happy to arrange it. Please note that the cabin has no electricity or running water and features an unfinished interior.
