Come get away in our grove of balsam pine trees in a rural area with lots of wildlife to see and hear. We have 5 primitive campsites, one for large groups and three for smaller more private camping and one drive in site for camping out of vehicle or tent . We offer un mapped hiking trails onsite and there is plenty of activities to do within 10 to 15 miles from camp. Activities include swimming at local beaches, Nemadji State Forest, General CC Andrews State Forest, ATV riding, lots of great fishing lakes, several rivers for kayaking and canoeing, local restaurants, coffee houses, movie theater, general store, shopping, antiques/craft, grocery, gas, local brewery, agate center, fire museum.
The land was purchased by the Sway family in the late 70's from a farmer and has been in the family since. We are one of the 4 current land owners of this property and plan to keep the land in the family as long as we can.
Our home was built in 2011 on part of the property. Since living here we have used the land for hiking, gardening, wood harvesting, selling Christmas trees, and now we are excited for our new adventure of opening a small part of our land for camping.

Feel free to roam around the 10-acre property and explore the 80 acres of state land to the north. Deer, foxes, coyotes, turkeys, owls, eagles and more are likely to be seen or heard. Explore, Banning, Moose Lake, and Father Hennepin State Parks which are all within 30 minutes, and return to the cabin to read, play games, listen to records, have a fire, and relax.
The kitchen provides you with everything you need to prepare your meals including a refrigerator, small freezer, stove, oven, cookware, cutting boards, sink, seasonings, oil, and coffee.
Water for washing is available from an electric pump faucet in the kitchen, and a brand-new outhouse is located steps from the cabin.
The cabin is efficiently heated and cooled with a user-friendly heat pump and gets the cabin to your desired temperature very quickly.

*We have free range chickens and friendly border collie. Sometimes there's a dog staying at the other cabin. Wildlife is also in the area, so we require that dogs be supervised and leashed, for their safety, and our wild animal neighbors. No dogs may be left unattended in our cabins while you go out! Take your canine pal with you! Quiet hours: dusk to 7am. Also consider your dog's inclination for barking. We keep the peace and quiet of all of our guests in mind.
*DRAGON LOFT has one double bed in a loft with steep ladder. Great for two people. Room for dog bed or kennel below the loft. Has a nice reading/coffee room, fridge, oil radiator, hot plate, WiFi, deck with table and chairs, patio with fire ring., grill outside. You have full use of the trails in our woods!
*RAVEN WATCH is larger and comfortable for up to four people. Solar power, off grid (no WiFi). Double bed upstairs overlooking the pond, and another downstairs by the cozy wood stove. A cute little kitchen with a nice gas stove and wash area. Fire ring outside. Wood supply. Price based on two adults. Small fee for up to two more people +pets. Next to pond, creek and woods! We raised our children here, and over 45 yrs have planted trees and pollinator acres. We always enjoy meeting other travelers. While living and teaching internationally we looked for adventure, staying in a wide range of hostels in developing countries around the globe. We are now retired but still traveling and exploring off-season.

Guests will need to be self contained, take waste with them and leave no trace.
The Loo (pit toilet): She works hard for the money! With lots of campers and hot weather, The Loo can get a little...fragrant. We have it regularly serviced and cleaned, but during peak heat and heavy use, odors can happen. Nature gonna nature. If you're sensitive to smells please feel free to bring your own portable loo setup!

Each year our family opens up for the month of October a haunted trail, complete with actors, a half mile long wooded trail with buildings to wander through. Now our dreams are expanding to a winter wonderland and a hipcamp campground. Located 14 miles outside of Duluth’s Canal Park area, we have the perfect location for privacy, as well as, being close enough to enjoy Duluth’s many tourist attractions. We are also near multiple popular hiking, biking and skiing areas and state parks, such as Jay Cooke State Park and Spirit Mt. Our private apartment offers a deck overlooking our pond and forest area, with all the amenities of home and the natural atmosphere of camping. We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite. It was quiet, beautiful, and incredibly peaceful — the perfect place to relax and clear your mind. Being right by the water made it even more calming and enjoyable.
My partner and I came here for a few days away, and it gave us the chance to truly unwind and reconnect without the usual distractions. The atmosphere was so relaxing, and we left feeling even closer as a couple.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway to recharge and enjoy nature, this is the perfect spot. We will definitely be booking again in the future!

I loved staying at Bundos cabin. Our kids had a nice time exploring and enjoying the land around us. It was remote but easy to get to and close enough to others that it wasn’t nerve wracking as a new place can be. Getting in was easy and the right mixture of camping and cabin life. Would highly recommend!!

Glorious. Sue has the yurt set up to be so comfortable, very private set away from the main house. It was very clean, warm, nicely lit with the lanterns provided, and I appreciated cotton bedding, nice cast iron, metal and ceramic cookware, and thick warm rugs. It's clear that Sue has thought about guests' needs and comfort because everything I needed was right there, easy to find and use. It didn't detract from my experience, but the highway and railroad sounds were quite loud despite not seeming to be nearby, the sound carried a lot. If you know those kinds of sounds would wake or bother you, be aware and maybe plan for bringing white noise or something.

A beautiful place! We had a great time there. The cabin is really nicely set up, no uncertainties while there. Naomi’s directions and details were perfect. Many nice settings to gather: the big kitchen table, main room, fire pit. We had a big fresh ol’ hike on the trails surrounding the property. We had an incredible weekend at Bundo’s Cabin. It was exactly what we needed. The heater works great! If anything, at night, we were almost too warm in the loft. Super dog friendly property, and it’s very private. We loved off-leash snow shoeing with our pups and did tons of exploring.

Crooked Creek was a perfect oasis away from the city. We really enjoyed the cozy vibes of the cabin, and the walking paths for us to enjoy. We were even provided orange beanies for hunting season, which we greatly appreciated as we went on our hikes! Naomi did a great job of making us feel comfortable and at home, and we would absolutely return.
