Weekend Trip to Twin Folk Farms

Very private site- just what we were looking for! You do get some road noise, but it’s nothing that wakes or keeps you up. Was fun to hear the neighboring sheep and cows is the morning and evening. ☺️ Suspiciously few bugs, and not muddy at all despite all the rain we’ve been getting! Just an FYI for those with bigger rigs: it’s a relatively steep driveway down into the property. It’s well graveled and we made it up in low gear 4 wheel drive just fine!

Weekend Trip to Twin Folk Farms

This was our second time staying at Twin Folk farms and our first time at their cabin. We absolutely loved it! The weather wasn't the best so we were happy we had the cabin. It was very cozy, clean, well appointed and our family of five and golden retriever had plenty of room to lounge and move around. The kids had a blast running around the trails exploring the area. We also ran into the host at their tent at the Red Wing Farmers Market which was pretty awesome! We picked up a rack of ribs which we grilled that night and it was amazing (she threw in a chicken foot treat for our dog who loved it). All in all it was a fantastic quick getaway and Darla is a great host. We will be back again sometime down the road!

Cute camping site with fire pits, friendly service. Bathrooms and showers were close to our site and clean. Wine bar on site (we did not participate) and coffee room for the morning!!!

We loved our stay. Definitely do the sauna and the breakfast treats. Kim is great. Pizza and music made for a wonderful experience.

3 nights at Prairie Creek Campground

Great little spot! We loved the sound of the creek the whole time, along with the coyotes and owls. The hosts are very friendly and they really do a great job with keeping the camp spots nice. With it being only an hour south of The Twin Cities we will definitely plan another trip here.

My family and I really enjoyed our site. My labradors especially loved being right on Prairie Creek. There’s a bunch of trails to access from the property which was awesome. The sites were well maintained and having a cart to bring our gear back was a great surprise. I would recommend this to anyone.

This campsite was amazing! 5min off the road but completely surrounded by woods. Could hear owls and coyotes at night. Easy access to Caron Park and the waterfall next door. The campsite was clean and taken care of and Stephen was very friendly. Definitely coming again!

3 nights at The little cabin

Nice, quiet getaway! We slept in tents in our getaway and used the little cabin to keep our gear out of the elements. It was really nice to have the mini fridge and a microwave to help us with our meal prep. Would definitely come back again!

Weekend Trip to Lake Tommy Homestead

Beautiful lake view. Easy to get to. The host was friendly and checked in with us to see how our stay was going. In case accessibility is a concern, the path to access the lake is on the steep side. Swans, frogs and turtles all came by for a visit, it was a lovely weekend.

3 nights at Belle Creek Bluff

2nd time here at the Bluff. Very secluded besides having a few campers cross the creek and were in the meadow next to the cabin. Firewood has a great price at $1.00 per log, Venmo made it super easy to pay. Definitely will be coming back, thanks again JT.

Weekend Trip to Belle Creek Bluff

We loved our stay! The sound of birds and the creek made it really peaceful. No mosquitoes, and the campfire kept the black flies away. The wagon was super helpful for moving our gear. The kids loved crossing the tree bridge to the island and playing in the creek. The only downside was that on one of the days, we had to listen to a mower running most of the afternoon, which broke the peaceful vibe a bit. But aside from that, the experience was great!

Weekend Trip to Whippletree Farm & Nature Trail

Beautiful farm near the Twin Cities with a great auto site. We needed to try our RTT before a trip out west and decided this was a perfect spot to give it a try. Only about a mile from the Gateway trail and a speedy 25 mile RT bike ride to downtown Stillwater for breakfast on a patio. Really a great option if you are looking to avoid crowds and noise at a public campground.

It is a nice private spot with lots of space. We rented it for two nights. We were having such a good time that we extended it for two more.

1 night at Lake Tommy Homestead

Adam was a great host, knowledgeable, kind and welcoming. As a single woman I felt safe there and slept really well. I was a last minute guest on a random weeknight while driving through the state and Adam was able to get everything ready for me within a few hours. Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend. Level ground for my van, private and had shade. The kayak was an awesome bonus.

We are a small family farm. From April-October we make a living on the farm and enjoy rural life. We’re very busy during these months and if you stay with us you may be able to enjoy fresh produce for purchase- we also have neighbors that sell eggs, there is a Meat shop in downtown Lindstrom and 2 miles away is Rod's Country Corner (ice cream, pizza, sandwiches, essentials). So, you could have the opportunity for some delicious camp food while staying here. It is very beautiful with much to see and do. Things to note: 1. There are black bear in the area, please keep food stowed away in your car at night and your campsite clean. 2. Storms pop-up and tents etc. are subject to wind, please be mindful of the weather and any incidents that occur are not liable to the property owners. When you arrive pull up in the driveway we will direct you to your location... and please park your vehicle close to your site. When you are tent camping this can come in handy during any inclimate weather, which can pop up randomly during the summer months. We have a rustic composting toilet for guest use. Prairie Creek Campground

Hello 2025, Camping Season is Here! Pitch your tent at one of our Walk-In campsites on 60 acres of forest or hilltop prairie along Prairie Creek in Rice County, MN. Explore the creeks, trails, forest, our enormous granite "split rock", a 60 acre county park featuring waterfalls and trails, including a single track mountain bike trail. That's 120 acres of exploring outside your tent; this campground truly offers a large amount of remote forest for recreation right on site. Big Woods State Park is less than 2 miles away. Faribault is 8 miles and Northfield is 9 miles from our driveway; they offer dining, boutiques, and all other amenities. Nerstrand is 4.5 miles east and has a gas station and a fantastic meat market. Numerous Cannon River put-ins are within 10 miles. Vehicles: Our main parking area by sites 1, 2, & 3 is easily accessible. The road to the secondary parking area beside site 4 is up a steep gravel road (but it is accessible). We do not have firewood available at the campground; please plan ahead to bring firewood with you. Sites are priced for one tent, please let us know if you need to have more than one tent. Kids under 16 camping with their parents do not count in pricing. A map of the land is in the photos and shows locations of sites, parking and more. All Sites are Walk-In! We have a cart you may use to haul gear in. This campground is managed by Stephen and Molly on land owned by them and their father Ted. In 1961, Ted's parents bought this farm. In addition to farming they also operated a trail riding stable here. Over the years, the arable land has been sold, but we retained the wooded areas which are twice crossed by creeks. About 25 years ago, a 60 acre county park bordering the south and west sides of our land was created. We are very excited to host campers as a way to preserve and share this beautiful property.

The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. You can also set up a time to come up to the farm and purchase meat. - The beautiful, historic town of Red Wing is 10 minutes from our farm. Our beautiful property has been farmed by our family for many years. We have enjoyed preserving the woods with our mountain biking trails turned snow shoe trails in the winter. The woods are full of golden maple trees which is where we got the name for our personal campground. Come visit to see for yourself! Learn more about En Gedi, your tent site: You'll be staying in a private safari tent overlooking a 100 year old maple tree above a secluded hollow in our woods. With access to over 2 miles of marked out mountain bike trails and hiking trails here on the property. Outhouse, picnic table, fire pit with 4 chairs and 4 cots are provided (2 extra large, 2 large), sheets are provided for the 2 extra large cots. Drinking water is provided (2 gallon jug). Firewood is available for purchase at the campsite ($5/ten pieces of wood). You can also use whatever has fallen in the woods. Located at the end of a well worn field road access you'll need to hike in if you have a low clearance vehicle. Its about .25 mile long hike with a 100' ascent. Access in 4x4 can be limited in wet and muddy weather. We also have access to a class A trout stream about 1 mile away to enjoy swimming, fishing and lounging. We are a short 10 minute drive to many great local activities like Whitetail mountain bike trail in River Falls or Kinnickinnick river kayaking. Fantastic local Forestville Winery is less then 2 miles away with great wine and food options. Add on an experience to your stay like mountain bike classes or feeding our baby cows! Get the full country experience while you're camping!
