3 nights at Camping on private lake

I absolutely LOVED this private camping spot. It was clean, serene, and so beautiful with the lake and boats available. Jim provides kayaks, a trolling boat and comfortable table/chairs (picnic tables can be uncomfortable...so it didn't matter we didn't bring bag chairs) and even fun hammocks at each site @ no cost. The property was private, we were able to let our dogs run loose (they're well behaved). There's also a beautiful waterfall located about 25 miles away. I would highly recommend!

Jim has a beautiful layout. We stayed in site 1, and we couldn't even see the other group that was staying there as well. He greeted us when we got there, and checked in to make sure we were having a great experience.

1 night at Downhome Country Farm

We loved staying the night here! It was an unexpected find but it was the most magical stay! The campground was clean, fun, and lively. The farm animals were so cute and a nice touch to the land. Carole and her husband were so kind showing us around their property and made us feel right at home. The bathroom was very clean and the cowboy shower was so fun to use! 100% would recommend and 100% will be back!! Thank you Carole!

Weekend Trip to The Retreat at Pointer’s Ridge

Deb has a wonderful piece of property and is an incredible host! So peaceful and by the river. We were tent camping and bad weather rolled in so she offered that we could take shelter in the retreat’s big hall if needed. We decided to leave very early in the morning to avoid it instead, and only had one night. We are looking forward to being able to stay again some time and get to relax and enjoy the property a bit more and appreciate Deb’s hospitality!

Weekend Trip to The Specialty Crop

We needed a last minute stop on our way back to Virginia. This was the perfect place. We were only a few miles from Hwy 90 and close to gas stations that easily accommodate an RV. While we were only there a very brief amount of time as we arrived very late, the host responded very quickly and kindly to all my messages, the campground was very clean, and while we didn’t use it, the dump station was very easily accessible. Great stop!! Thanks!!

Everything was nice and clean. The shower house was awesome and Katie and her daughter were so nice and helpful. I enjoyed visiting with Katie about her chickens and was able to buy a dozen fresh farm eggs. The view was nice and there was plenty of space to walk our dogs around.

Site was perfectly level. First and only time that’s happened for us. Site was easy to find.

Even on a too hot and windy day, I enjoyed my time at Jim's lake. It was magical to watch the stars come out! Jim was welcoming and you can tell he wants you to enjoy his rustic place. I will visit again.

The blue cabin was adorable and cozy. The perfect spot to camp if you don’t have a RV or tent. The host is great and makes the experience easy.

Stayed for one night on our way back home from a 5 week trip. Just a couple miles off I90. Quiet campground.

The trees are beautiful and the bike trails are really nice. There is a pond across the street. We saw a crane and a deer in the water. Well maintained and level sites. We would definitely stay again.

When we were kids we spent time on this property riding bike, horses, and exploring. We have turned this 13 acre property into 22 site campground that we are excited to share with you. Camping on private lake

This property has 4 camp spots. Sites 1 and 4 have a boat landing. All sites have shades trees that can hold hammocks. All sites are right next to the lake. Site 3 has a dock that all can use. There is excellent swimming with a sandy bottom at the south end of the lake. The lake is stocked with perch in 2024 but has walleye, northern, bass as well. It is also close to many lakes that are good for fishing. I have a 14' fishing boat with trolling motor, a paddle boat, 2 kayaks, and canoe for campers to use for free. Firewood is available for $5/day. There is some hiking on the property and much near by. Biking is also good with small lakes nearby to visit. The camping here is very peaceful with wonderful views and the wildlife is awesome! 120 volt power is at all sites and 220 can reach sites 2 and 3. There is warm showers and flushing toilets. Also all sites are drive through on hard ground grass. Grates are provided for cooking over the fire. There is Wi-Fi internet that reaches sites 1-3

Downhome Country Farm

Downhome Country Farm is 10 acres of woods and prairie with a large garden, chickens, wild turkeys, guinea fowl, mules, horses, a dog, and bee hives in the pasture. We have two restored vintage campers that sleep 4 people and multiple tent sites. The bathroom and solar shower are shared by all guests. There are 2 sites for self-contained RV's with 20A electric available and water at some sites. 2 tent sites are available until the hay season (August) then the pasture is wide open tent camping. Horse boarding and camping available too. Each site can request individual fire rings. We have an outdoor community area that has a large fire pit, covered shelter and a woodfired pizza oven that will be in use on some weekends and by request. Local and national touring musicians are known to provide pop up private concerts some weekends and impromptu jam sessions. On occasion, we have outdoor movies and morning yoga along with great activities in the surrounding community too. Or just hang out in the hammocks and soak in that downhome country feeling. Come and enjoy the great outdoors on our farm!
