Olson Park and Campground stands out as a unique destination due to its rich history and generous land donation by industrialist E.O. Olson and his wife, Bella H. Olson. In April 1945, they contributed 55.1 acres to the city, establishing a beautiful park that was officially named Olson Park in January 1950. This commitment to community and nature has made the park a cherished local landmark. In October 1956, an additional 10 acres were acquired along County Road #59 for $3,000 from Genevieve E. Peters, intended for future park development or potential well site purposes. The park continued to expand with two more purchases totaling 2.498 acres from Agnes and Alvina Haack in 1956 and 1966, with a portion designated for Well Site #20. These acquisitions have seamlessly integrated into Olson Park, enhancing its natural beauty and recreational offerings.
