This is a new campground to Rock County near Luverne, MN. This property is known as the "boy scouts" by the locals. When we were kids we spent time on this property riding bike, horses, and exploring. We have turned this 13 acre property into 18 site campground that we are excited to share with you. We have also moved a house west of the campground that is available on Airbnb/VRBO (Sweet Retreat, 5 bedrooms, 2 bath) Nestled in a bed of trees just 2.5 miles from I-90 and 1/4 mile South of the Luverne City Park. This campground has 12 sites with rural water and 20,30&50 amp electric at every site. Dump Station. 6 Full Hook Up Sites (Sewer, Water, Electric) Two small ponds and shade trees. Wifi. Shower House/Bathrooms. Campers can enjoy the quiet place to relax and enjoy nature and wildlife, a perfect place for bird watching.

Work in progress
Work in progress. Sites were very level; easy to park rig. Brand new playscape. Site not very clean. Litter and dog poop scattered across site and in fire pit. Quiet at night. Close to town, good brewery nearby. Only 2 toilet/shower combo rooms but that seemed adequate to # of sites. They are working on improving park so hopefully it looks better in the future. Not likely to repeat a stay here.

Good for a couple of nights
We went to Luverne to spend most of our time at the state park and this provided a better option then staying directly at the state park as it has water hook ups. Worked well for just the couple of nights, but wouldn’t spend a longer trip here as the site we had (#15) was very narrow. Our fire pit was also full of garbage from the previous camper so we never sat outside like we would have wanted to. The campground appeared to have mostly long term construction workers, but it seemed like most of them had left for the weekend so it was quiet. The water pressure and Wi-Fi were excellent! It was nice to have a trail right next to the campground to walk the dogs up and down.

We really enjoyed our Labor Day weekend at River Road campground. I sent the owners a message and said we would be arriving around 6 pm, would it be possible for them to drop off a couple of bundles of fire wood. I was impressed on how fast they responded and said no problem and when we pulled in there were 2 bundles waiting for us :) The sites are mostly pull through and Probably 20 ft wide very level and long. We only live 45 minutes away and the grandkids said they would like to visit again!! Showers and toilets were clean. I saw some comments about it looked like a lot of construction workers staying there. I took the time to visit with one and I must say these are the guys and gals that are building up our country. We are fortunate to have such individuals that are willing to work long hours away from their families in some cases. We enjoyed our stay nice area, quiet and lots of trees for shade. We will be back. Thank you.

Nice, but not our preference
Easy in and out. Sites are level and well kept. It was fine for one night but I wouldn't want to spend multiple nights. The campsites are far too close together with zero privacy. We prefer a more spread out camping experience. Not our cup of tea, but it was still a nice campground.

A good place to rest for the night
We enjoyed the ease of access and functionality of the new showers. Bathrooms were a little dirty and sites were a little crowded. Nice local community and walking trails enhanced the experience overall!

Our stay was very relaxing. It was quiet and near the bike trail and city park. There was only one problem at the dump station in the direction to enter to get the rig in the right area. Would go back for a quiet stay again.

Small, quaint campground. Perfect for overnight. Sites were long and had plenty of space. Lots of large trees provide shade. Nice paved path from campground to nearby town park. You can walk or ride bike. Town park was large and had several playgrounds, volleyball court, walking paths, etc. We even rode past the local baseball field where you can enjoy an evening watching the game. Bathrooms were clean, no frills. Site spots reserved online not reinforced at campground, as early arrivers parked in any open spot. Not a huge deal, as we pulled into another open spot, but frustrating because we weren't sure which open sites were available. And why go through the process of choosing the spot you want when booking if it's first come, first serve when you get there? We enjoyed our overnight stay and would stay again.

Very nice hosts! Easy to navigate the grounds. I appreciate the pull-through sites. Consider having hand soap and paper towels/hand dryer in the public bathrooms. I felt the sites were too close together. I also wished we could approach the dump station from the east. It’s a tight turn after leaving the campground to enter the dump area from the west. At a minimum, please build up the approach so it is above the level of the dump station. We’re working against gravity to empty our tanks.

Stayed for 1 night while traveling. Clean well care for town. UNew shower/bathhouse was clean enough. Needs a small shelf added to place your shampoo items on and perhaps a hook for your bag of clothes. New water and electric hook ups at each site. Looks like most campers are here for daily work purposes. Nice paved trail behind campground leads all the way to town along river. Nice place. Would recommend for overnight or long weekend.

The campsite is good. They only issue is the dump site is on wrong side of campground. You have to find place to turn around to use it. Also, there is huge hanging branch when enter that hits camper when use dump site. Otherwise the people who run it are nice, and camping itself was good time.

FANTASTIC QUIET RETREAT SPACE
River Road Campground is about as close to perfect for a quiet, laidback camping experience as they come! The hosts are super nice, super helpful, and quick to respond to anything that comes up. The facilities are basic - which is good - if you're looking for a country retreat. If you're looking for a party or a bunch of resort-like stuff, go to KOA. It had everything we needed, including close proximity to a super nice little town, Luverne.
