This is a lovely, quiet spot with prime location to Detroit Mtn. The property's renovated barn is beautiful with amenities like bumper pool table, ping pong, dining area, reading books. We had a 20 ft. Camper and there was another longer camper and a couple ofntent campers. Super nice, highly recommend.

Beautiful property with trees, open spaces and a gushing river this time of year. The property is really well looked after with clearly marked campsites and fire pits. We lost cell service in town so make sure you review the directions beforehand or it may take a little longer to find your way. Carl was a good communicator and kept us well informed prior to our arrival and even came over with a bottle of plum wine (harvested from his property) to share. We would definitely stay here again. Excellent spot!

Pleasant setting, quiet and peaceful. We heard a train, not a big deal. Had a good night’s sleep after a long drive. And got to meet the dogs!

Chelsey offers a quiet and convenient spot right off Rte. 90 to park for the night. The toilet is clean and water is available. The setting is an old farmhouse at the top of a small hill that offers a view of the surrounding farmland, and some beautiful old trees. Chelsey was friendly and accommodating.

Great place. Very shady, cool camping spot. Some noise from a nearby road but it died down dramatically by the time I was ready to sleep. The biggest challenge was the turkey who liked to play chicken with my truck — a very friendly big fella who just wanted to say hello.

Weekend Trip to Floodwood Municipal Campground

The Floodwood Campground was in a convenient location for anyone wishing to visit the Sax Zim Bog Visitor Center. The City of Floodwood has all the necessary services. The campsite was adequate. Water, electricity, and showers were available. A fishing dock is on the St. Louis River. I felt safe. I tent camped so didn't use all of the offerings. At $40 a night it was overpriced. The campground is brand new. The lights from the neighboring houses was annoying, I felt like I was camping in someones backyard. Perhaps some plantings of shrubs could improve the view for campers and neighboring house. I camped on a Saturday night in early June- only 3 of the 15 sites were occupied. Even though the campground is right next to the St Louis River, it wasn't very attractive. The area seems to have a shortage of accomodations. There is the Starlite Motel. Floodwood is on major US 2 which runs from Duluth to Grand Forks, ND

Weekend Trip to The Double J

This was an amazing piece of land along side the creek. The sound of the water was the most peaceful sleeping backdrop to camp next to. It was easy to find, very well labeled, very well kept and clean. There was plenty of space between us and the other campers so it was very peaceful. As a single mom camping with my son, we don’t like to camp where there’s no one else camping but we also don’t like to be right next to them either, so this was the perfect balance! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet get away.

Really impressed with how clean and well-kept this campground is. The grounds are spotless, the bath house is well-maintained, and the dump station is super convenient. We especially loved the easy access to fishing—made for a peaceful and fun way to spend our time. The only thing keeping this from being a full five stars is the lack of privacy. Sites are pretty open and close together, so you don’t get much space to yourself. That said, if you don’t mind being near your neighbors, it’s a fantastic spot with great amenities and a beautiful, relaxing setting.

I loved camping at the Dairy Farm. I went with my 13 year old daughter and our dog. Our site was clean and we were provided with water, wood, place to cook, fire ring, and outhouse. We had total privacy and our dog was allowed off leash to roam safely around the site. John was a great host. When big rain storm was coming he offered us the Hilltop Queen to sleep in because it was dryer than our tent. My daughter was thrilled to sleep in a boat. The trails were well groomed, marked, and beautiful. There was even a cute little playground. One of the best camping experiences I have had.

The Double J

Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. What makes this woodland special is it's quiet, secluded setting and over 6 miles of hiking / skiing trails. Our farmstead sits three quarter of a mile off the paved county highway on our well maintained gravel driveway. Each of our campsites are secluded from the others with their own sawdust compost toilets, picnic tables, fireplaces, and firewood. Two of our sites require 4WD with a minimum of 6 inches ground clearance to access, and two are accessible with 2WD. If you do not have 4WD we can help transport your gear while you enjoy the walk in. There are plenty of woodland birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons and squirrels sharing the woods with you. At night it is common for owls to visit the campsite area to say hello, and coyotes talking in the distance. The winding trails through 100 acres of woodland offer a variety of woodland habitats, from Old growth Maple to mixed hardwood, to dense brush, to the edges of open pastureland. Bring your fat bike or mountain bike for an enjoyable ride. For winter users there is a mix of easy, moderate, and challenging winter cross country skiing or snowshoeing / hiking on the property. However the Rock Bottom Cabin is our only heated and insulated site and is available for winter booking. Winter access is walk in only with snow on the ground or in the forecast. We can help transport gear. This property is part of a working pasture-based dairy farm and guided tours of the dairy and cattle are available when scheduling allows. Children 12 and younger are free at our campsites. No need to be counted as guests , but please let us know when requesting to book. We do not allow non-booked visitors to our campsites due to the secluded, remote location, and accessibility.

The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill. Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.
