Potentially a beautiful spot!
Here is what happened to us:
We paid for 8 packs of wood, on the app so we did not have to bring wood with us. This was something they offered through the app. We got to the campsite and none was there. Contacted the host through email, she said it was not her problem and she will just return the purchase of the wood. Then proceed to let us know if we wanted too we could drive into town and buy some there. We let the host know we were not happy with the situation and her last statement on this subject was for us to use what we could find on the property but don’t chop down any trees.
Next issue was the grass was as tall as our knees… The host told us if we wanted it cut to use their lawnmower…. That was on the property. They were too busy. As well as the prior weekend was a busy weekend with Memorial Day.
While getting our camp set up, there was plastic silverware all over the place and other trash that we got to pick up. So that we were not stepping on trash while walking around the camp sight.
Also last but not least the steps down to the water are missing a board. The steps them selves have nails hanging out that put a hole in my water shoes. Dock was falling apart.
I’m sure the last campers had fun and the host didn’t check on their property in between Memorial Day camping and us the following Friday. There attitude and dismissiveness of the hostess was not okay.

We really enjoyed car/tent camping, I highly recommend wisewoods on fool lake! We loved waking up close to the lake hearing chirping birds in the morning and the view was relaxing! Kayaks and pedal boat was available to use on site and you can fish right off the dock. We caught a couple smallmouth and largemouth bass and crappies too! Jackie the host was very nice and responsive to my questions and even allowed us to a late checkout free of charge. We definitely would book again! 😃

Wise Woods on Fool Lake
I liked the lake there were fish right off the dock, which was a big plus. If you’re looking for a secluded campsite, though, this may not be the best spot since the neighboring sites are fairly close.
One thing to note is there’s a steep hill down toward the lake. I went car camping, and while the site itself was spacious, the slope made it hard to position my car on a flat surface for sleeping. The only truly level spot was up the hill, which works if you plan to camp there, but otherwise even the picnic table sits on a slant because of the incline.
I brought my four dogs and had expected a more private setting, but a friendly neighbor dog came by to say hi which was actually a nice touch though it was a little challenging for my reactive dogs.
I also appreciated the outhouse being nearby as it was very convenient.
Overall, I enjoyed the lake access and fishing, but the sloped terrain and lack of privacy are worth considering depending on the kind of camping experience you’re looking for.

This was an amazing camping spot. There was a slight hill down to the water but nothing unmanageable. Dock, swing, picnic table, paddle boat, canoe, all great features. There is a hose with water if needed, which was very convenient. Lake is very quiet and relaxing. Would stay again and recommend to anyone!

Great spot for tent camping or a small camper. You get your own private spot on the lake. There's an outhouse, electric, and portable water. The fire pit is a nice size. The swing bench by the lake was my favorite spot for enjoying my morning coffee, watching the sunrise and the pair of loons fishing. You can jig for sunnies right off the dock. When you first walk onto the dock it is very wobbly. But once you're out there it's fine. We had 3 people fishing off of it at the same time. Make sure you bring camp chairs, as the chairs in the pictures are not there. There is a canoe and paddle boards for use as well. The walk down to the lake is a bit steep. Just something to think about if you have mobility issues. We really enjoyed our time here and plan to go again next summer!

I want to say I would def book again. Great host! But, you need to be aware of a pretty big slope. This wouldn’t be a problem except you are prohibited to camp near the water where it’s flatter. Camping right next to water is generally not a good idea in any setting due to storm wind - but that being said if you camp back where you are supposed to you are going to be walking up and down a tough slope all day. There’s also a dead tree that is in line to fall and it could go down on the area where you can pitch a tent.
All in all, it’s really lovely but you need to be aware of slope and the challenging tent options.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time camping on Fool's Lake. We found enough level land for our 3 tents to be down by the lake and the perfect trees to hang the hammocks. The preteen kids enjoyed having the paddle boat to explore the lake and use as a swimming dock. We liked having electricity for charging phones and a water source for washing up. We cooked over the fire with the solid cooking grate provided. Cheap disposable grill grate covers are just a few dollars at the store in Crosby. It's so convenient that Crosby is only 10 min. away when you need more ice for the coolers. The mosquitoes were not that bad and we had Thermacell to keep all flying pests away. It was a relaxing weekend on a clean quiet lake where we could watch bald eagles and listen to the loons. Jackie was a wonderful host who was quick to communicate and happy to accommodate to make sure we had a nice long stay. Thanks Jackie!

Enjoyed the beautiful lake, including kayaking around it!! Sounds of the loon's call, fish jumping and quiet nature was wonderful.
Up keep was a little rustic, longer grass, toss of rocks for a firepit, pre-warned about poison ivy, very large hornet/wasp nest on "off limits" play house, and level ground is a little challenging to find. Log swing was nice but hard to see lake over overgrowth.
Was nice to have wood available for purchase and overall enjoyed the privacy. Thanks for the stay!

What a great piece of lake property to camp! After a short drive up a wooded path you are greeted by a lovely piece of wooded lake heaven with open vista to the lake. The property has an elevated area where we put our Chalet and two tents. This is where the outhouse is located as well. The property has a partial "road" down to the lake where you can tell some people may have driven. Not steep however. There is a flat area by the lake where a fun two person swinging bench is located and large fire pit.
Fools Lake is clean and clear for swimming and kaying, my favs. We were in the lake all the time. I enjoyed the ease of steps into the lake. There is a sandy bottom with some rocks (wear your water shoes) but so easy to lauch your canoe or kayaks. There is a large dock as well.
This property is well hiden for privacy. Quiet. Beautiful. We will return.

This is a private spot. Only you and your set up. It’s a beautiful lake and a nice set of stairs to the lake. There’s a wonderful wood swing over looking the lake. There’s aLao a picnic table and a big fire pit. I’d recommend your own toilet set up if possible. It was wonderful! 10/10 I’d come again

What a great spot! Our 16 foot Scamp was really easy to get in and out. Quiet and private-we really enjoyed it. We kayaked and swam and enjoyed the view and the nature-also had fun exploring Crosby and lunch at the Bridge Tavern. We will definitely come back next year! Thank you Jackie, for sharing your space!

A Fool's Paradise Found: Camping at Fool Lake, MN
Don't let the name fool you, Fool Lake in Minnesota is anything but foolish! My recent overnight camping trip with my cousin to this hidden gem was an absolute blast. Nestled amidst towering trees, the lake offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We arrived at the campsite and quickly set up our tents. The afternoon was spent kayaking around the lake and setting up camp. As evening descended, we gathered around the campfire, shared stories and laughter under a canopy of stars.
Waking up to the sounds of nature was pure bliss. We brewed a pot of coffee and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast while taking in the breathtaking sunrise over the lake. We were even lucky enough to spot a family of eagles in a large nest nearby!
Fool Lake provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable camping adventure. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with nature and my cousin. I highly recommend this spot to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway with opportunities for outdoor fun.
