Zumbrota, MN · 6 sites · Tents, RVs
Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. For updates and notice of last minute cancellations be sure to follow us on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/DoubleJCamping As is customary for most campgrounds, we ask that if you bring in your own firewood that it be kiln dried. Dry firewood can be purchased for $5.00/bundle. TIP - Being we do not reimburse campers in the event of rain (unless campground is flooded or too muddy), we highly recommend campers take advantage of Hipcamp’s Weather Guarantee option when booking. With Minnesota’s unpredictable weather it allows you to get reimbursed for any days it rains over a specified amount, even if you choose to stick out the rain! The cost is very reasonable making it almost a no-brainer! Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions! We look forward to being able to serve you!

Situated on 36 acres, this working farm is 2 miles West of Taylors Falls. Dan bought this property with the intention of growing stone fruits (plums, peaches, apricots and cherries) using sustainable and organic practices because health and wellness matter to them! They are still in the process of improving their property. Many of the building on the property were in poor condition, including the old barn foundation which is now one of Dan and Danielle favorite places to keep cool in the summer. After they had excavated all the debris (which took years) they were able to transform it with gardens and fire pit for all to enjoy. They love sharing what they have been blessed with! They hope you enjoy their place as much as they do! Feel free to ask them to show you around or even get your hands dirty with them as they plant or harvest.

Materfield | Women’s Wooded Riverland Camping

11. Materfield | Women’s Wooded Riverland Camping

Elmwood, WI · 4 sites
Welcome to Materfield, a primitive, women-centered woodland camping retreat nestled on 15 wooded acres in a picturesque river valley in Western Wisconsin’s farm country Materfield was thoughtfully created for women** who want to spend time outdoors independently while enjoying the added comfort of knowing other women may be camping nearby. With just four campsites, the campground is intentionally small, creating opportunities for both solitude and connection. Each campsite occupies its own woodland clearing beneath mature trees, with natural ravines and vegetation providing separation while keeping the sites within a comfortable distance. Whether you spend the evening around the communal campfire or retreat to your own campsite, there's space for both. Here, the pace is slower and ways to interact with nature abound. Wander tended paths around the perimeter of the property, practice forest bathing, relax in a hammock with a good book, watch for deer, birds, butterflies, and native wildflowers, or cool off in the crisp, spring-fed river just a short walk from your campsite. The sandy-bottom river is typically clear and perfect for wading or enjoying a leisurely tubing float along the entire northern border before walking back to do it again. Materfield is intentionally simple, allowing the landscape to remain the centerpiece. We provide the essentials for a comfortable stay, including portable restrooms, potable well water (hand pump, BYO containers), designated parking, wheelbarrow/cart to transport your gear, marked and mowed walking paths, a communal campfire gathering area, and tube rentals. The campground sits within a beautiful rural valley where woodlands and working family farms have existed side by side for generations. Along with birdsong, frogs, and the sounds of the trees, you may experience the sights and smells of tractors, livestock, or other seasonal farm activity. We see this as part of the authentic character of the landscape and the community that cares for it. As Materfield grows, we look forward to offering workshops that celebrate nature, traditional skills, and the self- sufficiency of rural life. Materfield is best suited for campers who appreciate a simple primitive outdoor experience. There is no electricity, no showers, limited cell service, and no RV camping—just an immersive nature experience, tree canopy, peaceful walks, a beautiful river, and the opportunity to unplug for a while. Whether you're planning a solo retreat or inviting friends to reserve neighboring campsites, Materfield offers a different kind of camping experience: the freedom of having your own space with the comfort of sharing the woods with a small community of women. Camp solo together. **Materfield welcomes all women, regardless of gender assigned at birth, as well as transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals who feel comfortable in a women-centered camping environment. We ask all guests to respect our community guidelines and help us maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful space for everyone.

Crowded Table Farm - Cannon Valley

Dennison, MN · 1 site · Tent, RV
Welcome to Crowded Table Farm! After twenty years of living in the heart of the city, we traded our pavement for 14 acres among the rolling hills of the beautiful Cannon Valley region of Southeast MN. Crowded Table Farm is the realization of a long-held dream: a place where we can grow good food, restore the land, and—most importantly—share it with others. Our farm is a patchwork of vegetable beds, fruit trees, a budding native prairie, and quiet woods. Life on the Farm: Depending on when you visit, you might see us out in the fields planting, weeding, harvesting, or tooling around on our small tractor. You’ll definitely hear the ducks chatting and the roosters announcing the day, but beyond that, it’s pretty darn quiet here. We are actively restoring a native prairie to provide a home for pollinators and butterflies, and we steward our wooded spaces, working to support a healthy forest ecosystem. The End of the Road: If you’re looking to get off the beaten path, you’ve found it! Our farm sits at the end of a dead-end road, with four miles of gravel between you and the nearest paved highway. Because of that, our nights are truly dark, and the stars are incredibly bright. It’s the kind of place where you can take a deep breath and actually hear yourself think. However, while it feels a world away, we’re actually quite close to some of our favorite Minnesota spots. We’re just 15 minutes from the Cannon River bike trail and great spots for kayaking or canoeing, and Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is a short 20-minute drive away for hiking. The historic downtowns of Cannon Falls and Northfield are both nearby, offering fantastic breweries, antiques, boutiques, vintage shops, bookstores, wineries, restaurants, and more. We are also an easy 45-minute drive from both the Twin Cities and Rochester. A Stay with Purpose: At Crowded Table Farm, we believe in a "purposeful surplus." We run a small CSA, sell at a nearby farmers market, and grow extra produce specifically to donate to our local food bank. By staying here, you aren't just finding a place to pitch a tent—you’re supporting a small-scale food system and a commitment to land stewardship. We can't wait to share this beautiful space with you!

Previously a 100 acre century farm, this fertile land was tended to by generations of old time farmers. Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep.  The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects. The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. You can also set up a time to come up to the farm and purchase meat. - The beautiful, historic town of Red Wing is 10 minutes from our farm. You'll find a mix of modern amenities and historic shops to suit your fancy.
