Prairie View Camp
Gorgeous and Meaningful Farmstead
Absolutely perfect stay on Cynthia's reconverted farm which is restoring prairie land on the high bluffs between the Mississippi and Chippewa rivers. We set our canvas tent inside a ring of young oak trees and in late evening watched the firefly show over the high grass, Yes, it all sounds idyllic because it is!! Embers the dog exercised our arm with balls and sticks to throw at her, and we especially loved the compost toilet and outdoors sink areas--simple, elegant, unapologetic. We inflated our bed and charged our phones at an outlet near the water pump, so really all amenities are covered! Turkey vultures and bald eagles skim the ridge for thermals, and the farmland (with names like Plum Creek and Bogus Lane) seems remarkably well kept, with healthy grasses and many-species trees along the dirt roads, and no signs of GMO-financed seeds...
Cynthia was a grand host and we can only sense all the stories accumulated in her trying, with many like of her neighbors, to bring a different balance between the needs of farming and better ecological equilibria. Within a few miles, there are several parks and sites that are comparable to some of the most picturesque places we've ever seen (from California to France). Maiden Rock Bluff State Park is one, but there's more amazing sites we won't even divulge... we will return not if but when. Deep gratefulness for Cynthia and Embers, and we encourage anyone serious about rebalancing farming and the environment to visit her soulful abode!

Prairie View Camp
I went to Prairie View Camp for a restorative few days in one of my favorite regions in the state. The drive there was scenic and the directions were spot on.
Cynthia’s created a wonderful retreat to share with us. The sites are situated overlooking the restored prairie and bordering woods. The amenities are creative and considerate.
I can’t wait to go back and enjoy those sunsets over the prairie.

Beautiful prairie stay
Our stay at Prairie View couldn't have been better! The location and surrounding area were gorgeous, Cynthia was a super welcoming and helpful host, Ember (the resident dog) was a blast to play with. We enjoyed spending time at the site and walking through the on-grounds trails. Within 10-15 minutes of hiking and lake Pepin. Will definitely be back and would recommend!

Prairie View Camp
This is such a beautiful place in a gorgeous part of the country that I had never seen before. I was late in arriving (because there was so much to see on my drive to the campsite; I made many stops) but Cynthia was very gracious about it. The campsite is near her home, but she has created several clever and attractive ‘blinds’ that it didn’t bother me at all. The outdoor shower is terrific. She also has a composting toilet, but it is currently not in service due to covid. Cynthia clearly cares a great deal about her land and the environment; the natural prairie she is fostering is beautiful. It was a very peaceful three day stay for me in the midst of rolling hills. I also loved all of her various outbuildings and visits from her energetic dog, Embers. (Cynthia only allowed the visits when I told her I enjoyed them.)

Magical Getaway!
Effortless communication with our fantastic host Cynthia. She made us feel so welcome and at ease. She is also a fantastic baker! We loved the treat she brought us of warm blueberry muffins on Sunday morning!
The site is one of wonder In Wisconsin’s beautiful rolling hills.
Plenty of space and lots of shade with a lovely breeze to keep the mosquitoes away. Walking trails to meander. Sunsets to set your soul a glow! This was a perfect getaway made even better by the addition of a fantastic shower and outdoor sink, large fire pit with dry wood and a sparkling new Weber grill. The site is filled with creative and beautiful touches and the land that surrounds it is overwhelmingly stunning. This is a lovely spot to relax and get away from it all, while remaining close to quaint towns and delicious restaurants. I recommend it 100%! Cynthia has gone above and beyond to offer a quiet place of serene beauty. You will enjoy every moment!

Loved this place
This camp is wonderful, a stunningly beautiful and peaceful slice of Wisconsin's river bluff countryside and prairie. Our host, Cynthia, was great; everything was clean and well cared for. Oak trees at the campsite are perfect for hammocks.

Great views
This was a great campsite. Cynthia had everything set up perfectly with the shower, toilet and a sink to wash dishes. Beautiful prairie views with wildflowers that attracted several butterflies and birds. Amazing sunrise and sunset. Very little light pollution, so star gazing was incredible! Definitely recommend and will return.

Relaxing and beautiful
Lovely farm and campsite. Remote and peaceful- especially loved the fireflies and stargazing. The outdoor shower was a treat and there are plenty of spots to hang a hammock and relax. It was fairly windy and I would recommend bringing extra warm clothes/blankets for around the campfire, even in the summer.
Cynthia was a great communicator and checked in, but gave us privacy. Lots of firewood on site for purchase. Friendly pup will come say hello - was scared of our dog at first and a bit barky, but she got comfortable and was fine - just a heads up if you have a skittish dog to let hosts know.
Make sure to check out Stockholm pies and Maiden Rock cidery.

Lovely spot for family camping!
Beautiful campsite with all the amenities that you'll need! Toilet, shower, sink, running water, picnic table, fire pit, and rejuvenating peace and solitude. While there are two sites here, the space in-between still allows for privacy. Cynthia is a wonderful host who is working hard to restore her land and rewild the area. The area is a nice mixture of native prairie and forest, with plenty of great birds and local wildlife.
The kayak trips down the Mississippi weren't running yet (June 2020) so we'd highly recommend doing the hike (approx 1hr) at the Five Mile Bluff Prairie State Natural Area that is 15 mins drive from the campsite. The trail is relatively steep for the final 30 mins but the views at the top are so rewarding! Cynthia also recommended the Maiden Rock Bluff State Park along Hwy 35. There are also ample walking opportunities right from the campsite.
Overall a wonderful weekend getaway that we highly recommend!

This is a beautiful spot on a farm turned prairie restoration. The camping area is fairly close to the house and bldgs, but looks out on to open prairie at the top of a bluff. One thought to contribute, is it can get windy, so set up appropriately. Had a great time, and it is back a ways into the Bluff area of SW Wisc, so getting there is a beautiful adventure too!

Chill and Restorative
We weren't sure what to expect when we pulled up to Cynthia's 80 acre property. It was in the heart of the most beautiful, hilly, countryside surrounded by farms. The property had a smattering of buildings surrounding the campsites, including an adorable outhouse and outdoor shower. There were several very friendly people staying in the buildings, and Cynthia and her dog were relaxed and charming to be around. The meadows and woods nearby were perfect for taking short hikes. It is close to Lake Pepin, which was a beautiful place to visit. Altogether, it was a really great stay!

Should have stayed much longer : )
Cynthia, we are sure knows this but for us her spot is a unique place on the planet. Amazing views, prairie grass and woods abound.
We only wish we could have stayed longer for hikes, maybe a tune or two and much more playtime with the pup💜
Thank you for sharing and spending time with us.

Dreamland
PVC is so dreamy with rolling fields, mindfully tended property, a incredibly kind owner. The mown paths on the land take about 15 minutes to explore. Our camping area was within view of the house, which was fine with us. Cynthia built the sweetest outdoor shower (with hot water)! And she has a rescue pup who keeps a gentle eye on the farm’s goings on. It is refreshing to camp on soft, cool grass rather than gravel tent pads. And the sunsets...swoon! Trees support three hammocks, which we loved as well.
