Enjoy our back lot for a private campsite which borders a prairie preserve. Watch the deer come in the morning and evening and listen to our friendly, happy hens cluck away, not to mention all the beautiful song birds. We are happy to share our golf clubs and balls to hit a few into the field. Our kids love it! Tree coverage along with an open field. We cut the field to offer a walking trail to the prairie preserve. There is a tree surronded, very private tent site for tenters, but if you have a camper you can find a spot that works best for you! (The tent site is very private and a camper would not fit.) We are a short 10 min drive to Stillwater but there is so much to do in Somerset! Take a walk around the prairie preserve and kayak down the apple river, but don’t forget the local brewery and boutique shop. There is some great fishing on local lakes in the area as well. We offer a 30 amp electric hook up and our hose for water. We also have a shower tent with a camping porta potty.

Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep.  The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. Sometimes sheep are there, sometimes elsewhere on the farm. You can hike the other direction and check out the restored quarry. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. Dan bought this property with the intention of growing stone fruits (plums, peaches, apricots and cherries) using sustainable and organic practices because health and wellness matter to them! Many of the building on the property were in poor condition, including the old barn foundation which is now one of Dan and Danielle favorite places to keep cool in the summer. We are also 3 mins from Lake George and the Rum River Regional Park for swimming, biking, fishing, boating, and more paddling. There is a Bills gas n grocery as well as a G-will liquors less than a minute from the property. The Ponds golf course is about 4 mins away as well. If you are looking to hit downtown Anoka that is a straight shot and approx 12 mins away. This site is on an active hobby farm that has dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, and multiple gardens. We have a farm stand by the road where we sell items such as fresh roasted coffee, eggs, BBQ sauce, pickles, maple syrup, hot sauce, and more! Fall is quickly arriving! We are a small, 15 acre property, that's located within one hour from Minneapolis/St. Paul. Our farm has wooded trails, bonfire pits, with amazing sunrises and sunsets. It is quiet and very peaceful. Our little town is 10 minutes from most shopping, with multiple restaurants minutes away. It's also very close to lakes and rivers for kayak/canoe enthusiasts, boaters, or visiting those parks for hiking, swimming and more. We offer multiple locations to camp on the property. There is a concrete pad with (2) 30-amp electric and (2) water hookups. The 2 sites with hookups are very level and easy to park on. There are many other areas to park and camp, with access to water for filling up tanks, and an outhouse for bathroom needs. Disc golf, bean bag, and ladder game are available upon request. Firewood available for a small fee. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed and under owner's control at all times when outside. Maximum of two pets per site. The sunrises and sunsets are absolutely amazing with abundant wildlife all around to gaze at and enjoy.

Believe it or not, the quonset hut and cabin was a perfect shield from the storm that blew through on our overnight stay. We still rocked and rolled a little, but nowhere as near as bad as if we were out in the open. Peter welcomed us when we arrived to verify we found the space correctly. The farm is a cute location and I wish we had more time to spend on Lake Elmo.

Dan’s land is beautiful and serene. It is very close to Taylor’s Falls and convenient to anything you would need or want to do in the area. The tent was clean and in great shape as was the outhouse. So nice not to have to worry about tent set up! The fireflies were stunning and the summer sounds of the woods relaxing. It was the perfect place for our toddler’s first camping experience as the sites are spread out enough she could not disturb others if she were to struggle to sleep. Thankfully she did great and we can’t wait to return. Dan was even kind enough to hold a chicken close for our little girl to see up close and sent us off with beautiful fresh eggs for the week!

About

Almost 3,000 acres of forested gorges and wildflower-dotted prairies stretch along the banks of the Willow River in this western Wisconsin park. Willow Falls are the star attraction, and you can take your pick of four viewpoints. Seasoned kayakers can tackle the river rapids, but for a leisurely paddle, head to Little Falls Lake, where you can cruise, kayak, and cool off with a swim, then relax beachside. To explore further, discover more than 13 miles of hiking trails, follow paved bike trails, or seek out a quiet spot to fish before checking into Willow River Campground.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve one of the 130 RV/tent sites at Willow River Campground via the Wisconsin State Park website.
Campsite reservations open 11 months in advance. There is a minimum 3-day booking for holiday weekends and a minimum 2-day stay from May 15 through October.
Campsites can book up as fast, especially on summer and holiday weekends. Book a minimum of six months in advance to avoid disappointment.

When to go

Willow State River Park is a popular destination year-round, but it’s busiest from May through October. Activities are seasonal, so come in summer to swim, in spring or fall to hike and paddle, or in winter to snowshoe, sled, and cross-country ski. Views of the falls are most impressive after rainfall. Camping is possible year-round.

Know before you go

Willow State River Park is close to the Minnesota state border, about a 40-minute drive from Minneapolis.
Vehicle admission permits are required to enter the park, in addition to camping reservation fees. Hunting and fishing permits are also required.
Facilities include a boat launch, fishing pier, picnic areas, playgrounds, and restrooms.
There are accessible campsites, picnic areas, and restrooms at Willow River, plus the accessible fishing pier and Hidden Ponds Nature Trail.

Worth the walk

Willow River Campground

Nice, private camp sites which are good size. Good exercising walk and hills, to be rewarded with such a fun, beautiful river and falls. Go early in morning to beat the crowd. Bring water shoes.
