Great place if you’re looking for somewhere to camp and just relax in the north shore! Very friendly and fun environment! Beach is very close by so you can cold plunge in Lake Superior!

Dean’s land was perfect for us. We stayed at the RV site in our smaller camper van. Totally private, wooded with a stream/river flowing just below the camp. Plenty of shade for those warm summer days. Didn’t have time to use the canoe but nice that it’s available, the dock allows you to get out onto the river. Having firewood right there for sale at the camp was so convenient as was the fireplace mounted grill for cooking. And a nice picnic table available. We were very pleased and would definitely stay again when in the area.

1 night at Off-Grid Secluded Forest Yurts

Magical experience sleeping here and being close to such a beautiful place! Staying in the yurt was just what we needed for a get away. Loved the rustic touches, really helped us feel connected to nature and relaxed. There are also lots of delicious restaurants close by that we enjoyed trying. Would highly recommend this stay. The views of Lake Superior were spectacular! Loved the experience of a yurt, so cute and very comfortable accommodations.

This little off-grid yurt was the perfect upgrade from tent camping for my husband and I. The proximity to Lake Superior was the main draw; seeing the sea caves in the summer was a first for us. The yurt was clean and tidy, and I enjoyed the provided tea selection. Excited to visit again later in the season to do more hiking and exploring.

An excellent, secluded spot in northern Wisconsin. We went up to Wisconsin from Illinois hoping for cooler weather and beautiful landscapes, and it delivered on both fronts. Dean's propery was amazing, with plenty of space, and a beautiful view of the river. We didn't do much hiking on the property, but mainly because we were so exhausted from all the other hiking we did in Bayfield and on Lake Superior's beautiful coastline. Bring some bug spray for the mosquitoes, but otherwise an absolutely amazing stay. The city nearby has supplies if you forget anything, but it's a wonderful place. Would stay again!

Weekend Trip to Bad River Wilderness

I had an amazing time at this campsite. Everything was well maintained and left in good condition from the last campers. It was so much fun exploring all of Dean’s hardwork on the trails he created following along the river and into the pines and ferns. Absolutely beautiful and worth the hike in which was also very manageable even with lots of rain just pack your boots because it can be muddy. Thanks Dean!

A beautiful site right on the river! Walking the paths was beautiful and we loved the old railroad tracks! Dean was very quick to respond and very kind. You can tell the little details that set this apart like the very nice fire grill and beautiful picnic table! The only note I’d make would be the first sign that you come too on the road is a little sun faded and it was hard to read but that’s was because I got there at night. But no big deal. I would definitely come back! :)

We absolutely loved this site. The outdoor shower was a highlight—peaceful, refreshing, and a perfect way to enjoy the natural setting. The campfire being right next to the tent made evenings feel extra special. The tent itself was spacious and thoughtfully set up, with a super comfy bed that made for great sleep. The structure around the tent—including the decking underneath and the metal roof—really added to our sense of safety and comfort, especially when a gnarly storm rolled through. Everything held up beautifully, and we felt secure and dry the whole time. Abe was awesome to work with! We had one site booked for a night and another for two nights, and he made the transition between them incredibly easy. He also checked in on us after a storm passed through and stayed responsive via the app whenever we had questions. You can tell he really cares about making sure campers have a good experience. Would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy some true quiet time in nature!

Absolutely loved our stay at the Bad River Wilderness – Bad River Point Campsite! The hike to the site was beautiful, and Dean has the trail clearly marked with signs—it was spot on. Be prepared for a bit of a trek on rugged terrain, so pack light and bring only the essentials. And don’t forget the bug spray and a fly swatter—trust me! It’s such a peaceful, stunning place to explore and camp. Thank you, Dean, for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!

4 nights at Twisting Twig Gardens and Orchard

We had fun staying at the yurt! It was fabulous to have a full kitchen setup complete with fridge, a light, a fan, and an outlet. Outhouse was nice too. Bugs were heavy and the path to the BR could use a solar light or 2. Overall, highly recommend this to those who need more than a tent but less than a cabin.

1 night at Sailor Springs Glamping

Exactly what we were looking for—very remote, peaceful, and private. The hike to the site was clearly communicated in advance, so we were prepared, but it was moderately challenging, especially with gear. The hill down to the fire pit was a little tricky when the dirt was wet, but the beautiful, secluded setting made it well worth the effort. The cabin was spotless, super cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Abe was awesome to work with! We had one site booked for a night and another for two nights, and he made the transition between them incredibly easy. He also checked in on us after a storm passed through and stayed responsive via the app whenever we had questions. You can tell he really cares about making sure campers have a good experience. Weekend Trip to Nóatún Community Wooden Boat Works

We stayed two nights over the weekend. John welcomed us & showed us around. He is a great resource & has a wealth of knowledge regarding folk & indigenous traditions as well as the surrounding area. The space is great for straightforward tent camping. The tent site is on the lakeside of the property, quiet & protected from the wind. We were able to park in the driveway & use a wagon to cart our gear to the back. The beach & river are both in quick walking distance, which was amazing! Come prepared to be self-sufficient including drinking water. We utilized the portapotties at the beach access parking lot next door as well as the restroom at the marina, which also has a shower that we didn’t use. Both bathroom options are walkable & convenient. The resident goats are a hoot & so friendly. They even did well with our dogs over time. We would certainly camp here again!

Weekend Trip to Chanterelle Woods Preserve

We absolutely loved Christal’s campsite. The site was beautiful and the tent was perfect, already set up with cots and a carpet on the floor. More importantly, Christal was such an incredibly kind and gracious host. We ended up not showing up to the site until 1:30 in the morning and not only was she extremely understanding and accommodating, she waited up for us so that she could show us to our tent and couldn’t have been nicer upon our arrival. Finally, the site is in an amazing location, only a 5 minute drive from Bayfield’s main commercial street. I would absolutely recommend this site to anyone looking to camp near Bayfield!

Thank you to all who have enjoyed this amazing property and provided a review or rating!!! On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy. I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river. This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads. There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been abandoned since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north. There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls. There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.

Off-Grid Secluded Forest Yurts

Hi there! We have 5 yurts spread across our 40 acres with each yurt having lots of individual space and privacy. We hand built our yurts from scratch using wood from our land and local lumber, as well as sewing all the vinyl ourselves. The yurts are almost completely locally sourced, everything was handmade by us, and sustainably sourced. We are really excited to share the land we love with folks from near and far. Your yurt is equipped with a full sized futon, two burner stove kitchen with all cooking appliances and utensils, 2 gallons of fresh drinking water (as well as oil, salt, pep, coffee, and tea all provided), a small dining table with chairs, and an outdoor fire pit. A short 7 min drive from our property is beautiful Little Sand Bay beach. This free, public use National Park beach is gorgeous with views of Sand and York Islands, great swimming spots, $2.00 hot showers, and kayak launch. Important things to note about your yurt site! The access to our property is via a long dirt road, this road is accessible for all vehicles but it is about a 2min drive through the woods to get to the yurt sites. Once you arrive on the property your yurt is a 2-4min (depending on which yurt you choose) hike up a hill from the parking area. I recommend backpacking in your items. Wheely coolers and bags will not enjoy the terrain. The Portapotty is located at the parking area as well. That being said, a little bit of walking will be involved in your stay :) If you love walking you are in luck and can explore the trails on the property!

This property is adjacent to a wilderness area (Pikes Creek) and had been our organic farm for decades. It is pristine, wild and beautiful. We currently have 3 camping sites: a lodge tent for up to 4, a 2-person A-frame tent with cots, and a dry cabin. Both the lodge tent and A-frame tent share a privacy shelter with toilet and shower. They are approximately 50 feet away from each other. You would drive to both sites and park in a designated parking within a short walk from them. The dry cabin is more isolated from the other two and has its own shower and compostable toilet. All three sites are completely off grid. The Chanterelle Woods Preserve has a mix of trees, flora, fauna and wild mushrooms, hence the name "Chanterelle Woods." We ran an organic farm here for decades. When we were farming, we had "woofers" (an international organization of volunteers) who stayed in tents and a camper while here. It was a life changing experience for them....Now we would like to offer this opportunity to "rustic campers." Whether you want to stay exclusively on the land and relax or explore the surrounding area, there is a little something for everyone. We are 3 miles from the city of Bayfield, Wisconsin, which is the gateway to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. We are close to all diverse recreational pursuits: biking, hiking, kayaking and golfing. In case you forgot any outdoor or camping gear, there is Howl Adventure Center, one mile from us, that also has a cidery and a small bar with a food/taco truck and outdoor seating. The Big Top Chautauqua on Mt. Ashwabay hosts all kinds of music, art, and cultural events all summer long. Our property is directly across from Mt. Ashwabay, separated by the Pikes Creek wilderness area offering beautiful mountain biking and fat biking trails. Closer to town, there are quaint local shops and art galleries where you can peruse beautiful pottery, fine jewelry and original paintings made by local artists. Stop by one of the many fine restaurants in town for a taste the best fish dishes freshly caught from the Lake.

The campground is spread out over 5 acres of forest that you’ll hike into from Bresette Hill Road. After parking at the trailhead, you’ll gather your bags and hike into your glamping site. The trail winds through the woods, leading you first to a valley where the seasonal Clark Creek runs through in the spring. The first two campsites are on the other side of this valley. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to reach the secluded campsites. The third site is a bit farther into the forest, the little A-frame cabin, Anchor sits on the edge of the spring-fed Brickyard Creek that flows year-round. We have many plans for the property and depending on when you stay, the campground will be in various stages of development. The campsites, trailhead / parking area, and trails are scheduled to be completed in early spring. We hope to add amenities such as a camp sauna and screened-in gazebo later in the 2024 summer / fall. My wife and I purchased this little piece of paradise close to every outdoor adventure imaginable, so we and our kids have a place to stay while we get out and play! Our shed cabin is completely off grid, so those looking to get away from it all without being far from it all have found the right place! We are conveniently tucked back in the woods on about 8 acres just off U.S Hwy 2 close to Iron River, Brule, Ashland and Chequamegon Bay, Mt. Ashwabay, Cable and many lakes, falls and beaches. At the shed cabin, you will find a large deck off the back with a picnic table, a small bedroom with 2 beds, a loft and a futon in the living space. We have a propane powered heater, mini fridge and stove. We have a drop down table and chairs. The cabin is completely wired up for use with our solar generator or if you have one of your own, it can be plugged right into the cabin using the generator cord. Power is limited as winter draws near so plan ahead. We have 5 gallon water jugs that can be filled in Ashland at the Maslowski Beach Artesian Well. There is no Wi-fi, but we are close enough to U.S. Hwy 2 and Ashland, so we get cell service. There is a fire pit for your use and a picnic table near it. For those bikers, we have a bike stand that can be placed on the ground for convenient storage while you are here. We have a solar lit out house with a composting toilet. Instructions are posted in the outhouse for use and maintenance of the toilet. Please be respectful and use as directed. We still frequent the shed cabin ourselves. We do not have a cleaning service this keeps costs low for everyone. Please be respectful and kind so we can feel good about sharing this space with all guests to enjoy all the amazing things this area of the world has to offer.
