We regularly see Bald Eagles and deer as well as loons. Because of it's location near the end of a dead-end road, most mornings you will awaken to the sounds of birds and waves. Everything else you will to bring to enjoy the million dollar views. Oh, and on the opposite side of the camping site is quiet slough which is great for smooth water paddling and exploring. Down the gravel road about 1/3 miles are logging roads to hike, bike and explore. OHV trails are a couple miles away but check local maps for detailed information. Intentionally being minimalists beyond a fire ring and picnic table, there is a port-a-john (of humble means) to make your stay comfortable. You will need to bring your own firewood if you desire a campfire.

Sylvan Pond Campsite

Our campsite is nestled in mixed northern hardwoods and conifers with over a dozen species of trees around the camp area. The site is graced by a large old Oak tree and many larger Maple and Birch making it a well shaded site and protected from wind. A wildlife pond is near the tent sites which hosts frogs and turtles and an occasional passing beaver, otter or muskrat. Deer and Turkey are frequently seen and the area is on migration pathways for Raptures and many songbirds. The site is a few hundred feet from the Northwest corner of Farmers Block Road and is an ideal base camp for biking, hiking, paddling and fishing adventures in Keweenaw County. Only one mile from Lake Superior and the Gratiot River - many outdoor activities are easily accessible. Additional flat tent site undeveloped are close to the site if you have a larger group and need more tent pads let us know and we will try to accomodate you.
