Welcome to the Crane's Nest, your gateway to the Upper Peninsula's Huron Mountains. Overlooking the remote historic town of Big Bay, a place branded "The UP's Best Kept Secret," our cute little camper is your home for rest and recreation. With seasonal views of Lake Superior and Lake Independence and year-round views of the Huron Mountains, this is a prime location for outdoor recreation. Within minutes you'll arrive at a number of trailheads- the Powell Peak mountain biking singletrack trail network, the Yellow Dog Community Forest, Thomas Rock scenic overlook, the sandy public beach of Burns Landing, the AAA rock climbing wall, numerous named waterfalls including Pinnacle Falls, and more. A little further away, you'll find the McCormick Wilderness, the North Country Trail, and more. If you are looking for access to adventure, this is your spot. We are exactly 30 minutes from Marquette, all on paved maintained county roads. We are 5 minutes from Big Bay, which has a few amenities including: the Thunder Bay Inn, the Lumberjack bar, Drury's General Store, Huron Mountain Ice Cream, and the Hungry Hollow Cafe. Our camper is off-grid, and considered glamping, sufficient for those spending the majority of their time out on the trails. The camper includes a double bed, a table with two bench seats, a propane three-burner stove, and propane heat. Please note the refrigerator does not currently work, and there is no indoor running water/plumbing. Our set-up includes: a small charging station for phones, a composting toilet behind the camper, an outdoor kitchen with footpump sink and propane grill, and firepit with grill top.
