One of two private boondocking RV/camp sites available right across the street from the public Lake Superior Beach.
Maple Site sits on the corner of Maple Street and Lakeshore Drive only 100’ away from the beach path which has ADA compliant metals mats and a picnic table. You can hear the waves and watch the sunset over the dune on this site surrounded by woods and prairie grass. A mowed walking path also goes from the site to Lakeshore Drive.
Poplar Site sits on the corner of Poplar Street and Maple Street. This site is nestled between the prairie grass and woods and is a short walk either around the corner via road or through the path to the beach which is in sight only a 2 minute walk from your parking spot.
Enjoy a picnic table lunch or dinner on the path that overlooks the harbor break wall and Porcupine Mountains in one direction, and 14 Mile Point to the other. Sites are an 8 block walk or half mile drive to downtown Ontonagon. If water fill, showers, or dump site are needed, Ontonagon Township Campground is less than a mile down the road. Sites are mowed grass fields on solid ground. No fire pits in the campsite but fires are allowed on the beach, just please be respectful and tend to it and extinguish it once you are finished.

120 acres of country paradise to use as your base camp for adventuring in the Keweenaw. 20 minutes from Houghton and 20 minutes from Baraga/L’Anse. Snowmobile and ATV trail #3 is just a short cruise down Donken-Tapiola Road. Furry friends are always welcome and are able to be off leash! Turtle Pond Site has an approx. 12x30 foot level gravel pad and a fire pit on a small pond frequented by turtles, ducks, deer, birds, and even an occasional beaver. There is a 100 year old Finnish Homestead a short walk down a mowed trail. Guests are encouraged to take a look, but please don't enter the buildings as their integrity is unknown.
We strive to continue to improve our property every year. This year, we are working to improve the pond health and its borders. An updated photo is included in our listing; but you may notice small differences as the property settles back after being disrupted during this improvement. We were able to maintain the privacy that guests compliment in our reviews while also clearing away unnecessary overgrowth.

Welcome to our 40-acre property—a beautiful blend of woods and farm. Whether you're looking to explore nature or just relax, there's something here for everyone. We have two sites for your various camping styles. Our Apple Tree site accommodates tents only and our Lupine site accommodates tents, camper vans, pop up campers and toy haulers.
Wander through a mix of short forest trails and open space, or enjoy a stroll through our gardens (while our campsite is pet friendly, we do ask that you keep your pets out of the garden areas). Wildlife is abundant—keep an eye out for deer, birds, and more. Our pond is a perfect spot to unwind as you listen to frogs and watch turtles and ducks.
Wild apple trees and thimbleberries dot the property and you're welcome to pick from them when they are in season. A nearby trail connects directly to town and larger trail systems, making it easy to explore the area on foot or by bike/ATV.
We’re just up the road from Hungarian Falls, a beautiful nature preserve with scenic hiking trails, swimming spots, and cascading waterfalls. The historic town of Calumet is only 7 minutes away, home to charming shops, dining, and part of the Keweenaw National Historical Park. Local attractions include:
Swedetown Recreation Area – mountain biking and hiking trails
Calumet Lions Park – disc golf, horseshoes, and nature trails
Calumet Golf Course – only 2 minutes away from us
Calumet Township Waterworks Park – volleyball, basketball, picnic areas, and Lake Superior access
Heading south, you’ll find more adventures within 30 minutes, including Nara Nature Park, Michigan Tech Trails, Maasto Hiihto Trails, and the Portage Canal. For bigger excursions, Mt. Bohemia is just 40 minutes north, and Copper Harbor—with epic views and even more trails—is a bit further beyond.
Although we’re close to several towns and outdoor destinations, our property is peaceful and private. It’s the perfect basecamp for your Keweenaw adventure.

In the years to come, our beautiful barn will become a venue for weddings as well as a suite and rentable rooms where you can stay. We’ll also be continuing to grow our family farm, orchard and of course our growing array of animals for you to visit.
For guests we have a community fire pit in our yard and host fires most nights that we have guests. We also have a sauna that we heat up many nights so feel to let us know if these things interest you. Private sauna is available for $10 for your group

Convenient location and lots of amenities. Appreciated the porta potty, water jugs, and fire pit. Not sure where the advertised pond was, but we were only there for a quick night. Road noise was a little loud in a tent. A couple of dogs wandered through. One was from a neighboring tent site. Not sure about the other. We enjoyed our stay with our dog.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars – We’ll Absolutely Be Back
The site was just as described and we really enjoyed our stay. You have your own private beach area right on Lake Superior. There is a house next door, but it is separated from the campsite by a wood fence, so we still felt like we had plenty of privacy.
The gravel road is fairly close to the site, but traffic was almost nonexistent during our stay. We only saw a couple of vehicles. We were there near the end of the season, and only one nearby house appeared to be occupied.
A couple of things worth mentioning for future campers, just so you know what to expect. It is sandy. That certainly wasn't a deal breaker for us, but the sand here is very fine. When mixed with moisture or morning dew, it sticks to just about everything and can become almost paste-like. The wind coming off Lake Superior can also be a nuisance at times, so secure anything lightweight around camp.
Those aren't complaints, just useful information we would have appreciated knowing beforehand.
The beach, privacy and especially the night sky are fantastic. Sitting right on Lake Superior makes this a pretty special place to camp.
Five stars from us, and we will absolutely be back.

I camped in both of these spots (one Friday, one Saturday) and absolutely loved both. The property is in a neighborhood with huge yards so you don't really even see the other houses, but it still felt safe knowing people are nearby in case of emergency. Each spot was very large and felt private. Excellent location right next to the beach. I would definitely stay here again.

I love this campsite! Off the beaten path and easy to find. It’s basically the empty lot next to a beach house divided by a fence. The next beach house is a ways down. Gorgeous beach with full private access. Trash and outhouse available. I loved it.

40 ft travel trailer
This was our second stay at Evan's property. I can't say enough about how peaceful, well kept, and private this property is. After we left we'd found out that there were 3 other occupied campsites on the property, we never heard any noise. Site 4 is great for a truck w/ a trailer or an RV, plenty of room to navigate. This is a perfect home base for enjoying the surrounding Calumet, Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor towns. We enjoyed stargazing, picking out constellations and a front row seat to the Milky Way.

Such a unique, beautiful spot to camp! Our second stay at Doug and April’s and it didn’t disappoint! Two families, 2 campers and a dog with plenty of room for all 7 of us. There was electricity, water and a bathroom with a flush toilet! Bonfires on the beach as we watched the spectacular sunset and the Porkies close by for exploring and hiking. There was a canoe and kayaks for use but we just didn’t get a chance to use them. We will try to come again next year! Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven!
