Constellation Farmstead offers a relaxing escape with welcoming hosts, AJ and Madelin, who are praised for their hospitality and engaging conversations. Guests enjoy a hands-on farm experience, including picking apples and visiting animals, with the sauna being a popular highlight. However, some guests express concerns about privacy and proximity to farm animals, which might not suit everyone. Overall, the farm provides a peaceful setting with opportunities for outdoor activities and communal interactions.
Summary AI-generated from real reviews
Super chill with everything you need. Many opportunities to get out of your head and screens.
You want to experience farm life? Hosts are glad to explain, share and let you join in at any level. While I was there, I picked apples, helped herd cows, took a couple of saunas, swam in a couple of nearby lakes, and fell asleep each night with the biggest screen of all —right above me: an incredible star show, hosted by the galaxy!
These are cool people. AJ enjoys lively discourse with the guests and is the “best explainer” at any AirBnb I’ve ever been to. The kids are curious and well-behaved. The chickens are, well, ambiguous. Be sure to buy some of Maddie’s bread on the way out!

Our stay at Constellation Farm was great. AJ was a phenomenal host who took the time to get to know every guest during our stay and went out of his way to make sure all of our accommodation needs were met. If you’re ever find yourself in the UP and the Kewaunee Penninsula, look them up, you’ll enjoy the experience.
Beautiful stay on the farm and enjoyed a nice evening in the sauna. Loved our farm fresh eggs in the morning, visiting the animals and looking at the newly born rabbits. Spent the sunset walking around trying different variations of apples. Madelin and AJ were so welcoming and gave good recs for hikes in the area.

I liked AJ personally but I have several reservations about staying on his property.
The first issue has to be where he places his campers. We were about 200 feet from his house and face to face. Our backyard was a large chicken coop in a greenhouse. We got blasted with rooster crows starting at 5 AM. (We’re used to that but it was a bit close.)
AJ owns a ton of acreage but he keeps traveling rigs very close. I don’t understand this. When I travel I enjoy privacy.
Another issue I have is the fire pit. I enjoy a private fire with my family. The only option we had was a communal fire in AJ’s backyard. This was unacceptable to us both.
I respect AJ and his wife trying to hack it out on property in the far north. We stayed a second night only because I recognized he is partially surviving on funds from campers.
I wish AJ and his family well. I support the cause even thought I have criticized it.

AJ and Madelin were amazing hosts that I would recommend to everyone and will for sure be staying at in the future. They offered many amenities that went above and beyond expectations and were very friendly people.
Constellation Farmstead could be so much more. First thing when we arrived we were taken to the Sunset View site which was not at all like the pictures on the app. Our camper was actually about a foot away from the drive through the property on one side and the kitchen side was about 10 feet from a 30 foot long chicken and duck hoop house that had not been cleaned out in some time. This hoop house is not in any pictures for the Sunset View site and we felt very let down by this. We figured we would make the best of it since it was almost 6pm. So after getting the camper set up AJ joined us for going over the rules. What is this I was thinking because I had already read the rules in the booking info and there were only 3. The thing that got me the most was they claim to be Marijuana friendly and sharing is caring but when I asked if I could smoke a cigar it was meet with concern as Madelin is apparently allergic to tobacco smoke (which if was the case I would think would have been stated in the description somewhere). But AJ did tell us we could walk to the corner of the property by the outhouse (which was about 100 yards away from our site) and smoke if we wanted to, which we did. Needless to say we went to bed early and left by 630am. So I would not suggest this place to anyone until they get some stuff fixed with the description and clean the place up a lot more.

The amount of stars at the site is amazing! Waking up and seeing all the farm animals was a bonus as well! Loved chatting with AJ and Madelin during my stay!

Site is not accurately described as being directly on a moderately busy main road. Received passive aggressive text message from host for not signing guest book.
Such an amazing 1st hip camp experience! I’d definitely come back and recommend to anyone. From a sweet family, to an amazing farm experiebce, to the morning sauna… what a way to spend a couple of days in this gorgeous area to drive the Peninsula!
Another awesome stay with AJ and Maddie. Nice level area to park van, we were only ones there. Nice to see all the progress from hard work over last 3 years. Folks should understand this is a working farm, so watch where you step! Sauna was awesome - slept really well afterwards! See you again for the three-peat! Didn't play, but they also have a killer disc golf course.

My family and I had our first experience with HipCamp at Constellation Farmstead and it was an absolutely wonderful time! Our toddler and two dogs loved it! We fed the hog every morning with our food scraps, hung out around the campfire at night with the other campers and our kiddo had such an enjoyable time with all the other farm animals! If you stay here, make sure you buy some of Madelin's sour dough bread, it's divine! Thank you all again so much for a fantastic time at Constellation Farmstead!
We really enjoyed staying at Constellation Farmstead! AJ was an incredible host. He made sure we had everything we needed. He even built a bonfire for us! We would stay again!

Hosts went above and beyond to make our stay great. Thorough directions. I would definitely recommend them.
The very quick response time before checking in was extremely helpful as we were coming from NW Indiana. Madelin was such a great host on her own for our stay as the Mr. was under the weather. Perfect location between cities and recreational attractions we were wanting to visit. Nice property and the animals are fun!! Will have to come back when warmer to play disc golf!

AJ and Madelin's farmland is stunning! It was fun to see all the different animals and apple trees that were on the property. They were more than welcoming and had many different add-on experiences depending on personal preferences. We partook in the sauna which was a lovely experience and very rejuvenating. They were fantastic hosts and overall we had a lovely experience.

I was not actually able to stay at Sunset view after all, because of some changes in our plans and the change of location of the wedding we were attending in the Keweenaw, but they were very kind and understanding and refunded me even though I cancelled so last minute. I hope to make it there sometime!

Honestly I was not sure about our RV trailer site at first as we were next to the sow nursing shed with a bunch of piglets and behind us were the hogs. Having never lived on a farm and having 2 dogs with us that had never stayed on a farm, I was nervous. I have to say we had a wonderful time. We fed our food scraps to the pigs, the mama sow was very friendly and wanted scratches under her chin and the piglets were adorable. They were quite good neighbors.
AJ was a great host, making us feel welcome, giving us the history of the farm and making a great beach recommendation.
I took advantage of the sauna and it was wonderful! We also bought gluten free sourdough bread (I am avoiding wheat) and eggs.
I would recommend the Farm, especially to those who do not get to experience farm animals up close.

It was a beautiful place. Awesome people. Very friendly. The tent was great good location, but….. The description said no toilet, but there would be a place for a campfire. So we purchased our own camping toilet and booked the place. We get there do have a camping toilet that has been very used not cleaned out possibly ever and the smell of it was something I don’t wanna smell again. There was no fire ring And we were in the middle of a freshly mowed field so dry grass. By 9 PM Every mosquito within a 5 mile radius was attacking us with no fire. So There was no way for us to battle them and we were in the tent by 10 at the very latest every evening. We were offered the chance to go by the host families home and sit by their campfire. But we camp like we do with very few people so we have our own space. It’s our time to get away and personally we do not care to go sit with other people to enjoy a campfire each night. Plus, no Fire means no way to cook unless you have a grill and nothing for heat as it was cooling down in the evening and nothing for light other than a lantern that attracted the bugs that we couldn’t get rid of because we had no fire.
So would we go again only if we knew the toilet was clean or we would bring our own and if we were reassured, there would be a fire ring for us to have a fire of our own.
Beautiful place and kind host. The farm is great, bugs are deep so be prepared, but that is a given with the UP. Really cool place to stay
Loved this place!! Such good people and love what they do there!! Would definitely stay again!! It was such a great place to just chill and enjoy the company of people and animals alike!!
