We had such a a great time at the cabin! With 4 adults and two dogs, we didn't feel over crowded at all. We swam in the rush river one day and had a board game day inside while it rained. So peaceful, thank you Darla! Hope to get back in the fall for some cooler temps and more fishing.

Weekend Trip to Trapper Arts Camping Retreat

We really enjoyed our time at the Rustic site. The walking trail and the additional tent sites made the site feel bigger and more private. The pup enjoyed running the trail back and forth playing fetch. The provided firewood and comfortable bistro set by the fire pit was a welcomed bonus. The Hosts communicated with us beforehand and checked in with us upon arriving. Overall, the property is well maintained, private and in a beautiful area. Though it rained for a good portion of our trip, we were able to explore the area and enjoy some of what the property has to offer. We will definitely be back and have put this on the list as one of our favorites.

Weekend Trip to Trapper Arts Camping Retreat

Stunning place to camp and enjoy the woods. Bring bug spray(it is the outdoors). For the rustic site and have a rv, bring extra power cord and 50 ft if water line. No biggie... hosts makes sure you have what you need. Daughter said the porta johns were the cleanest she seen. Also bring fire starters. They had a bucket with kindling and charcoal fluid but the last campers didn't put the lid on all the way and wood was soaked. You can still lite it up if your prepared. A entry rug is helpful too as it is gravel. The birds and coons at night were nice along with a few firework booms. A week before the 4th is to be expected. Easy to get to with their directions and may seem pricey but given you have water and power with not being stacked on each other like a normal campground was worth it. Rustic sites are available with just a table and fire pit with wood provided were nice with a nice path to get to them if you want to get back to basics. This is how camping should be. I could see expanding and still keeping it remote-ish. Wish we had a chance to meet our host but they had a family medical challenge, would have loved to help it if we could. You won't be disappointed lake access to Bob Lake. The lake looks like it hold some nice lunkers. If we ever make it back to the area we will definitely make arrangements as well as spread the word. Thank you for offering a great place to stay!

Weekend Trip to Elk Creek Retreat

This campsite was the perfect weekend getaway! We loved the rocks around the campfire and the cabin gave us peace of mind in case of rain (speaking of which, we did weather out a thunderstorm in our tent and the outhouse stayed completely dry which was fantastic for a 4am wee). It was a lively campsite at times and we were able to hear neighborhood chickens and dogs and campers down the stream. The creek was a highlight and some fisherman wading down caught brown trout in front of us! Overall beautiful space and wonderful time.

Weekend Trip to The Double J

We stayed 2 nights in campsite #3. These campsites were quite spacious! Nothing compared to a state park or campground where the sites are super close. Lots of shade and lots of hammocking trees as well, right next to the river! We did the float on our paddle boards from the covered bridge to the campsite, the water was quite high as we were unable to touch bottom. There was a blockage 5-10 minutes into the float so if you plan to do this make sure to stay to the right side of the river and there is a little path to get through! Definitely make sure you have your life jacket and good water shoes on as the water is moving pretty fast! This site is right by the port-a potty and fire wood container which was nice as well. Jeff the host was super friendly and helpful! He met us as soon as we got there and explained a couple of things and answered any questions we had. We definitely would recommend this campsite and will probably be back again!

I enjoyed our stay! Very cozy. Poncho the border Collie checked up on us a couple times making his rounds. It's very quiet and secluded which was perfect for the women and I.

My friends and I really enjoyed the Sassy Fox campsite. The camp was well marked, clean, and the host was responsive. We really enjoyed all the fireflies around the campsite! Our only suggestion is to mark the well for guests to easily find in thr future.

Weekend Trip to Whippletree Farm & Nature Trail

This was the perfect place to stay for the night. Such a cute little cabin and had everything I needed. Went for a walk in the nature trails after dinner and was so serene and quiet. Wild definitely stay here again.

2 nights at Trapper Arts Camping Retreat

Thank you Brenda for sharing this amazing camping haven! For others considering, Eagle Point campsite has every available amenity needed for a perfect (and very private) camping experience. I pulled my small teardrop camper plus pitched a tent. The electricity and water hose were much appreciated plus a clean portable outhouse, Weber grill, fire pit with grill grate if one prefers to cook over an open fire, picnic table and patio table/chairs, a covered stack of nicely cut and supplied firewood, pier with row boat and canoe (we brought our trolling motor for the rowboat) and our own kayaks. The wooded site is ginormous! The lake is pristine, quiet and great fishing. My grandson caught a 29” northern that gave him quite a thrill to catch and release! Our first night was a hard thunderstorm. Many thanks to Steve for pumping out 5 inches of rainwater from the rowboat the next morning! My only point of caution would be the rustic steps leading to the pier. Covered with pine needles, and a bit slippery after the rain, we used caution walking down and carrying things to the boat. Oh, and yes, the beautiful eagles nest can be seen high in the lakefront pine tree. So amazingly majestic! A 10/10 camping experience!

2 nights at Whippletree Farm & Nature Trail

We loved our time at the farm. It was secluded, quiet, and beautiful, the cabin was just what we needed as a home base for the week, and the hanging swings were a fun touch. Electric fans helped with summer temps and it was nice to have fresh linens rather than have to pack them Bring your big repellent for ticks as you would with other natural areas. The goats and chickens were a delight. Thanks to Peter and family for hosting.

Jeff and Julie were so so friendly and kind. I stayed 4 days and it rained for 4 days. But I was prepared and stuck it out just relaxing in my tent with the pitter-pat of the rain. They checked on me often during the week. The campsites are al very nice with a good deal of space In-between and they are all right on the Zumbro River. Lovely property and well kept. I will return! 1 night at Belle Creek Bluff

It was a very sweet setting. We saw incredible amount of native MN woodland plants, and so many kinds of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and had an amazing firefly light show both nights. The green canopy cabin was a perfect hangout, even in the rain. The only issue we had is we had to cross Belle Creek to get to the cabin, and after 2 days of heavy rain, the creek had a much stronger current and was quite a bit deeper than when we arrived, so the return was very tricky, even a little scary!

5 nights at Elk Creek Retreat

We loved camping in this private out of the way site. It felt close to civilization, but also remote enough to feel positively isolated. We went from anxious and stressed to happy and calm at this Hipcamp. Bird watching was great. I saw birds I never imagined were really out there. A good place for trout, to be sure.

The Double J

Welcome to the Double J! Of the 71 acres we own, about half is tillable and the other half is woods and pastures for our horses. Within that, there is a beautiful secluded 3-acre meadow nestled down along along a beautiful 1,200 foot stretch of the Zumbro River where we have 5 spacious tent/RV campsites. While the campsites are all adjacent to each other along the river, they are each very spacious (the smallest being 100' wide and 75' deep), with some mature trees scattered around. Each sites (except Site #1) is able to accommodate up to 8 people and more than one tent or RV. There is a small meadow above all the sites where campers can play catch or other games. We provide and maintain a centrally located outhouse and keep the entire area mowed throughout the year. All sites offer great shade trees (perfectly spaced for hanging up a hammock) and access to the river - great for those hot summer days! Water activities to be enjoyed include fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and tubing (equipment not included). Some campers will drop in upstream at the Covered Bridge Park and float down to their campsite. The Zumbro River, especially in the fishing hole, offers great fishing including Trout, Small-mouth, Red-horse, and an occasional Northern or Sauger. Campers are welcome to to meander out into our pastures to pet our two horses, Shiloh and Champ. Also, we are just over a mile from town where you can visit Covered Bridge Park which has a Frisbee golf course and a nice play area for younger kids. Reserving adjacent sites, or all of the sites, makes for the ideal setting for a large family or group camp-out. In order to prevent overcrowding, we do reserve the right to limit number of sites, or campers per site based on overall parties/campers in the camping area. We will notify you if there are any limits at the time of your booking. We enjoy being able to share our property with others, and it is our desire to promote a safe, peaceful, family-friendly environment, therefore, be sure to note, we do have a NO ALCOHOL policy. PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to read the "RV Details" on the site information page as the road to the camping area may limit the type or size of RV due to a couple dips, a sharper curve, and it's steeper slope. Also, keep in mind, we reserve the right to cancel any reservations due to heavy rains or floods that may require our sites some additional time to dry out sufficiently. Trapper Arts Camping Retreat

Trapper Arts Retreat in NW Wisconsin has (3) waterfront sites and (1) wooded site. Located on a 1/4 mile long dead-end road (except Bob Lake West) on a 90 acre lake and only 5 minutes from the Chippewa County Forest! The Chippewa County Forest (over 10,000 acres) Hickory Ridge Trailhead is located about 5 miles away. You can enjoy miles of hiking, biking, ATV or horseback riding trails. Trails wind past small lakes and beaver ponds, as well as spectacular vistas and abundant wild life. LIST OF SITES (all of our sites now include a portable toilet, firewood, fire ring, water, power, picnic table and/or chairs). BIRCH Waterfront is named for the beautiful birch trees that frame your view of the lake that also includes soothing evening loon sounds :) It is our medium size campsite with a level gravel and grass pad with lakefront access via the long wooded dock and an included row boat for fishing and boating. EAGLE POINT Waterfront is a favorite because it is the most private, surrounded by trees and is on a elevated waterfront lot with steps down to a dock. This site has a canoe and a row boat and the best spectacular sunset views. The eagle's nest is in a tall pine tree above the steps! BOB LAKE WEST Waterfront is our only site that is not on this dead end road. It is located on the west side of the lake near the boat landing. This site has a bonus small storage shed which could be a cool kids cabin. It is partially wooded elevated site with stunning sunrise views. WOODED RUSTIC is a non-waterfront campsite for both tents or RV's that has been updated to a site with power and water and includes access to the lake and a row boat at our common access which is only about 200 yards down the road from this site. RV's can park on the gravel pad and tent guests can setup down the walking trail in the woods. This property was previously owned by Trapper Art who was well known in the area and started several successful businesses dating back to 1967 including Art's Snowmobile, Trapper Arts, and Art's Electric which was quite an accomplishment in the Wisconsin Northwoods!

Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. You can also set up a time to come up to the farm and purchase meat. - The beautiful, historic town of Red Wing is 10 minutes from our farm.
