What a great spot! Easy to find, SO peaceful! Kristin was an excellent host, friendly and accommodating. Was perfect for a quick overnight with my small camper. Would definitely return.

Spent the night here on a bike trip. Great little spot, it was fun saying hi to all the critters at the barn while getting water, and there was an awesome firefly display in the fields, which your tucked right in between.

Needed a spot for the night after a day on the road. I was alone and wanted somewhere that felt secluded yet safe. This was perfect. Nestled into the spot to car camp and it was great! Quiet, dark(i love that for sleeping), and a calm vibe. I felt safe and shielded from public view which is what I was hoping for. Host was quick to respond to questions before I even reserved the spot. For someone wanted to camp for more than a night, there was a little table and a ton of nature for a great view. The price was WELL worth it. Would def recommend and would stay again.

had a great last-minute stay on this lovely farm! campsite was cozy and perfect amount of space for us. water & bathroom were closer than expected, id say around a 2 minute walk at our pace. enjoyed meeting the goats by the bathroom and saw many fireflies over the field at night. host responded to my message right away when i had a question. would recommend!

Nice spot! It was perfect for an evening away. We drove our truck in, set up our tent and started the fire with the provided by the host. We had are dogs with us and they were obsessed with watching the goats. It was very nice.

Overall this was a great location just outside of Northfield and very close to Dundas for a quick trip to the gas station or grocery store. The stars were amazing at night and we enjoyed hanging with the goats during the day.
Unfortunately there was no firewood at the site as described and the location of the firewood wasn’t as convenient to grab more of as the host made it sound. We got our own bundles at a gas station near-by. The porta potty was a bit of a trek as well, and I’d recommend having other options if you have young kiddos.
Ultimately we cut our trip short as the flies were starting to take over and we were finding more and more ticks on our dog. Not sure if shorter mowed grass would help with the ticks, but it was maybe a tad more overgrown than expected.

Nestled alongside a long field road is a peacefully private, hidden away campsite perfect for tents or motorcycle campers. A short walk from your parked vehicles on the private field road for unloading and loading camping essentials. A cozy natural ambience surrounded by trees, farmers fields and fire flies dancing at dusk. Very few mosquitos surprisingly for the location.

I would not recommend it for the following reasons.
The flat area of the campsite was barely large enough to fit my car and 14ft tear-drop camper.
Access into the flat camping area required me to back my trailer through a very narrow passage with a one foot drop that was flanked by a rusty metal fence on one side and large woody shrub on the other side. I had to carefully back the trailer so as not to scrape it against the metal fence, but this forced me to scrape my car and trailer against the shrub.
This site did not include a conventional picnic table. It had a dilapidated round metal table and chairs. These items were filthy. They belong in a municipal dump.
The grill was dirty and rusty and unsuitable for cooking food.
The area around the grill and metal patio table was overgrown with weeds. Also adding to the ambiance was an overturned wheelbarrow and plastic trash in the weeds.
The porta-potty was located next to the barn and I saw no convenient pathway from my campsite to reach it.
This was not the kind of campsite that encouraged me to relax and watch a sunset. I used it simply to sleep and eat a quick breakfast. I spent the majority of my time in Northfield.
In summary, I think this campsite is not properly maintained by the owners and the description of it on Hipcamp is misleading. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Being early in the season, the beautiful view was unobstructed as the corn was just starting to grow. It's a nice quiet spot. I loved seeing the goats out foraging near the field. Carsten came out to see if I needed anything on the first evening and we had a nice chat.
Though I checked with the owner first and was told that there had been others with my same type of setup, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't pull my car into the site. My tent is the kind that attaches to the hatch, so I ended up parking on the side of the road which made all my food and cooking gear a bit far from the table and fire pit. We made do, though. My one hopefully constructive criticism is that the site and porta potty weren't very inviting when we arrived. The chairs we kind of strewn about, wet and dirty, and the porta potty had bugs and cobwebs in the sink like it hadn't been cleaned in quite a while.
For the price it's a fine overnight stop. Best if you have a self contained trailer or RV.

The field view campsite is a very nice and cozy campsite with BEAUTIFUL sunsets. You feel you are one with nature with the amazing sounds of all the wildlife from turkeys, birds, and coyotes. The goats at the farm provide entertainment and are the cutest to watch. Kristin also welcomed us at the campsite and was very kind and welcoming. It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend.

I’ve stayed here multiple times! I love this spot for its stargazing, beautiful sunsets, and privacy. You can’t see the house from the spot so you don’t feel looked in on-except by the cute goats in the pasture next to the site! They were adorable and stared longingly at me and my pup in the morning. I’m looking forward to staying here again!

My second time staying here- I love the proximity to the cities, yet you feel out in nature on the farm land. No noise, Sky full of stars, and the goats on the property are a nice touch. Portapotty by barn just a short walk away. The spot is more secluded from the house, which I appreciate! Kristen greeted me on arrival and made sure I knew where everything was- even showed me a walking trail through the woods for my pup!

This was a beautiful and very easy place to camp. It was quiet and we had plenty of space to set up with lots of privacy. We didn't get to meet Kristin but she was in touch via text and very welcoming.

Cozy campsite & beautiful farm land

Cozy spot on a beautiful piece of land. It was cloudy the day I was there but the sunset and night sky was still breathtaking. The site is tucked around some trees for privacy but the main house is about 100 yards away. There were goats and farm cats on the land nearby. There was also an portapotty a short walk away from the site near the home/barn that was well stocked. The land is close to the nearby town of Dundas, which was very cute and historic. Just a few minutes from gas stations, stores, etc. bigger rigs would need to park on the field road next to the site, but my car was small enough to nestle into the site surrounded by the privacy of the trees. Would definitely stay again.

Quiet Nights Under a Big Starry Sky

We spent two pleasant and quiet nights with our dogs in our RV at the field view campsite on Sept 10 and 11, 2024. Kristen dropped by to welcome us in the early evening and we talked a little about the site and facilities.
The sky was clear both nights and on the second night we were fortunate enough to capture some early morning northern lights photos and video.
The campsite is a short distance from our home and we are looking forward to revisiting on a regular basis.

Staying at Field View was perfect for our needs. The site is only 5 mins from Northfield, it was very quiet and Kristin was a wonderful hostess. She let me stay an extra night.
The actual camp site was too small for (2) tarp pitches so we setup on the field drive and had plenty of room to stretch out. There were level spots to sleep on.
I plan on going back and I would recommend staying at field view.

Kristin was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. That being said it was a little weird when she asked if we could get put in a different site because the previous guest wanted to stay another night. The new site was not bad at all but still made us a little uneasy about it all. I don’t think this sort of thing happens often, for what it’s worth. I’d probably stay again.

We loved staying here! The land was quiet and private which was very nice. Beautiful view, and is not far from shops in case you need something! 10/10 would recommend.

I brought my nephew to Field View. It is very private. We had enough firewood and brought some supplemental gas station firewood because of the rain it was easier to light. Because it was early June, temps were good. We had three days that rained and local thoroughfare was very accommodating with bowling, movies, and restaurants. The campsite location is nestled between Northfield and Faribault so picking up supplies (at Kwiktrip, Menards, Target, and Walmart) was easy enough. Kristin's son was very nice and accommodating. The bathroom was a porta-potty located near the barn. The water hose is also located near the barn. The barn is a bit of a hike, but a peaceful stretch of the legs never hurt anybody. We cooked over a campfire (when not raining) and enjoyed the serene environs with wildlife in the nearby fields. Turkeys, Deer, rabbits, and farm cats would visit to make sure everyone was well. We did not see many mosquitos, but we did see a lot of biting flies, probably due to the rainy weather. All in all, it was a great trip. I would book again.
