Barn · Sleeps 5The Timber Frame Barn sits in the center of Medicine Creek Farm's regeneratively grazed pastures. Salvaged and reassembled from two historic Midwestern barns by farm owner Jason, he has magically kept the soul of these structures intact with exposed posts and beams and clapboard walls, while offering guests modern comforts and clean design.
The "Barn Stay" features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a full kitchen and living room, and personal patio. It is particularly suited for those who would like to escape the city and experience a beautiful natural setting, but prefer full amenities.
If you're looking for more of a camping experience, please see our other listing for the Vintage Remodeled Camper Trailer!

Medicine Creek Farm is a beautiful expanse of gentle hills and low-lying wetlands on the edge of Minnesota's northwoods. Here, our farm animals live outside in their natural habitat alongside thriving wildlife like coyotes and wolves.
Our rotational grazing system aims to improve the soil, water, and air through a cycle of conscious impact, rest, and regrowth that mimics our earth's natural cycles. We hope your visit will inspire your own rest and regrowth through connection with the natural world.
Your support of the farm and our surrounding community allows us to continue thoughtfully taking care of the land and animals. While you're here we invite you to also support and enjoy our local businesses, lakes, trails, and state parks.

Sleeping arrangements are suitable for 5 adults and include one split king bed (can be prepared as two single beds if requested), one queen bed, and a bedroll sleep kit for the couch in the living room. We do also have a toddler mattress or two camping cots for children which can be arranged on the floor of the king bedroom.
We are unable to get broadband internet to provide WIFI, but we get excellent Verizon cell service.
The Barn Stay is fully heated with in-floor heat and a gas fireplace, but does not have air conditioning. There are plenty of fans and screened windows to provide a good cross breeze.
Bedding, towels, and toiletries are all provided, but you may want to bring extra beach towels if you'll be enjoying the area lakes and rivers.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, and tableware, and in addition to the stove, fridge, and dishwasher, includes a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and coffee grinder. The pantry includes staples like olive oil, salt and pepper, vinegar, sugar, and some other condiments and dried goods if you find yourself in a pinch.
The patio has a gas grill, picnic table and two patio chairs but there's space for your own camping chairs if you'd like to bring some. We also have a fire ring in the yard you're welcome to enjoy and we're happy to help you get a fire started.
We are also happy to share our bikes, yard games, canoe, cross country skis, skates, and sleds; just let us know what you're interested in and we'll have it ready for you.

Please remember we are a working farm. You are likely to see and hear farm animals, tractors, four-wheelers, "Beep" the 1968 Jeep Gladiator pickup truck, livestock guardian dogs, and all the associated noises and smells... in fact we hope you'll join us for some of the farm chores and experiences!
We provide ear plugs if you are likely to be disturbed by the sound of coyotes or working livestock guardian dogs at night. The dogs protect our livestock from predators like coyotes and wolves by barking during the night.
There will also likely be wild flowers, garden veggies, chirping crickets, spring peepers, wood frogs, lightening bugs, bees, ducks, sandhill cranes, hawks, and pheasants. We also have a barn cat and a farm yard dog Ziva who may like to hang out on the patio with you (especially if you happen to be cooking any hotdogs or hamburgers).
If you'd like to visit the farm animals and explore the pastures with us, don't forget some close-toed shoes or sandals that can be rinsed with the garden hose! :)
