We are pretty disappointed with this campsite and feel a little duped based on the photos and description. The site looked nothing like what was advertised. When we arrived, the grass was knee-high in most areas and waist-high in some spots, and it was clearly very poorly maintained.
Unfortunately, it had just rained, so by the time we got everything set up, we were completely soaked from walking through the wet, overgrown grass. With the grass being so high, the flies and bugs were also awful. You could not tell where the actual tent pad was because the site was so overgrown.
The pictures have the solar lights working however they did not work when we stayed.
For what we paid for this site, we expected it to be maintained much better. This is the kind of condition we’d expect from a free, primitive campsite, not a paid campsite.
The bathroom itself was fine and worked as it should, but even getting to it meant walking through the tall grass because there wasn’t a maintained path.
Overall, super disappointing and definitely not what we expected based on the pictures. If you’re staying here anytime soon, bring a weed whip because you’re going to need it.

Beautiful location! The fireflies were amazing, and I enjoyed the visiting cows. It's right by a gravel road but there wasn't a lot of traffic. Very close to a Class 1 trout stream!
It’s a great place. It’s quiet, private and a decent little spot to spend the night.

Beautiful and quiet. Travis is a stand up guy and he makes everything very clear and it makes for an enjoyable experience. Would recommend

For dirtbaggin fishermen it has everything we needed. The outhouse is very simple and works great for what it is and there is a vestibule that acts as a little shower room of sorts. The picnic table is clutch but my favorite part was the cooking platform setup. Just a heads up bring some shade or sun shelter if you want to stay out of the elements. Communication with the host was fast and very helpful! We camped out of our trucks and there was enough space for both to be on level ground and room for us to chill out. I would not hesitate to stay again.

This was a really nice spot. It was very secluded with almost no traffic on the road. I especially liked the string lights the host put up. I heard owls and coyotes in the distance.

The site is located in such a peaceful area and we were greeted by cows throughout the day! Travis had a nice picnic table, outdoor lights, and wall barrier to help with the wind! Great stay!

Fairly private site. It is next to a not well traveled gravel road. No shade, so if you're planning on hanging out at the site during the day, bring a canopy. Very responsive owner.

Great spot! The area was well maintained and a beautiful spot nestled into the countryside.
We ended up not staying here but the place looks great!
One word: Solitude! This site is quiet and scenic.

Very cool site. I enjoyed the wildlife. I was shielded well from the wind with the location and design of the campsite. Nicely maintained and private. Would recommend to those who don't want the cookie cutter camp ground experience.

S-Camp at Turtle Head Rock
I had a great experience tent camping here at Turtle head, hiking at Kickapoo Valley Reserve, visiting a winery, and enjoying an indulgently delicious tenderloin dinner at the driftless cafe in Viroqua. The camp site is off a quiet gravel road (minimal traffic, great for a run) nestled between two hills and easily navigable. The bathroom/shower set up are so convenient, just BYO soap and water. The string lights bring a cozy aesthetic to the campsite. My only downside was that the ground is very lumpy and slightly uneven so consider bringing extra padding or an air mattress if you’re tent camping.
Great spot near Viroqua. I was looking for a place to bike from that was near some gravel roads and this spot was easy for access to a route. It was on a quiet gravel road. It had the basic things I needed. Unfortunately there was a burn ban when I was there so I couldn't have a campfire, but I was glad I was informed of that before I went.
Nice a remote. Cool little place.
Had a couple deer to keep me company.

The camp was very nice. It’s close to the streams we wanted to fish and there isn’t a lot of traffic on the road it’s off of. I’d stay again for sure!

The site itself is awesome! I definitely would recommend for SMALL trailers and vehicles with 4x4 for the dirt road if it's not nice out. The outhouse is awesome, I don't have to worry about falling over!
S-Camp offers a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful slice of the Driftless to set up shop for the evening. I found it cozy, quaint, and well-equipped with the camping essentials, including a nice picnic table, an additional table for staging things, a firepit, and a nice little outhouse. Travis is an excellent host as well. I'd recommend this site for sure!

Loved tent camping at this place! Bring a sun shelter in the summer months as there is no shade and in a meadow with an incline. Neighbors were all very nice and could see the fish in the trout stream right up the road. We will be back!

We loved our stay here. We had such a great time, and made many memories to hold forever. :-) We loved how private it was, and peaceful. The stars were amazing to look at, and the cows were a plus! We would love to come back sometime, and would highly recommend this location! :-) Thank you Travis!

Nothing can be improved. It was unbelievably quiet and private. I had above and beyond communication from the host when some bad weather rolled in. He managed to contact me despite having zero cell coverage out there.
