Coyote Car Camping with a Toddler

It was a great couple of days. I met one of the owners when arriving and they were just finishing tidying up. Very lovely quick meet and greet before setting up camp. After that we were left to our own devices. The bugs were very tame. I didn’t need to spray any mosquito spray on me or my daughter. The spring was nice and cool and offered a good midday refresh. My almost 3 year old loved it. She really cuddled into the tent life. The picnic table area under the trees offered shade during the day while more toward the entrance of coyote camp offered a good sunbathing opportunity. Once the sky cleared up and night the stars really stood out. I’ll definitely be back and maybe bring some others along with me. Great experience!

Beautiful Land Beautiful People

What a beautiful and special place. This is our third time back and the spot of our proposal! Tia was so accommodating and helpful with everything. The land is a beautiful and special place and they continue to make it better every time we come back. They do such a beautiful job of maintaining it. I think the ONLY thing someone might be annoyed with is the Rooster that starts at the crack of dawn. So if that would affect you, bring ear plugs. Make sure you bring some cash for Magpie Gelato. An absolute great addition, delicious, and highly dangerous as its so close by. This is by far the best Hipcamp you can find in the Midwest.

If you want a relaxing spot and peaceful area, I would recommend you going here. There’s so many random things that you can do and look at I even found a baby bunny. It was so cute. I also found a couple monarch eggs that I was stoked about. Tai + Stella’s place is one for the book and my group was a tad bit on the louder side and I was so happy that we picked the spot that we did because we did not want to intrude on any other campers there, but let me tell you the hosts are so nice and caring we will be back. Thank you so much for the trip.

Very peaceful camping experience.

I went on a Friday night and I was the only one there. I pretty much could have camped anywhere i wanted and still chose the Frond which was the site I booked. Nicely secluded up on the hill and I rode my Scrabbler motorcycle right to my site exactly how I wanted. Site was perfectly placed and was one of the most peaceful nights I've had at a camp site. Definitely recommend, and will probably stay again since it is closer to home for me.

I stayed as a solo camper at the Coyote Car Camp site. The stream surrounds the sight and it was clear and amazing on the feet! I had so much privacy and enjoyed every moment on the property as well as touring the area. I will definitely return!

Absolutely beautiful space, isolated camp sites with incredible nature sounds (bubbling creek, occasional sheep bahs, and horses clamping along the road). Hardly any cars pass by the road near the site so you will be incredibly immersed in nature. Farm is fun, sheep are super friendly, firewood is incredibly convenient. We kayaked the kickapoo river nearby (started from Ontario) and it was a great addition to the weekend.

Books, Food, Flowers and Trout!

Another year, another memory — and if you haven’t been, you’re missing out. The spring ephemerals on the bluffs come back like old friends every year. The hosts are just as reliable and even more welcoming! Grab a book at Driftless Books, coffee from Wonderstate, dinner at Driftless Cafe, fish one of many local streams in the morning, and refuel with breakfast at Maybe Latelys. Tune in to the local radio 91.9 FM WDRT for the soundtrack of your trip. This place is special.

Second stay in a beautiful spot next to the creek. Enjoy the sheep and chickens… especially the new lambs running around. Neat hearing and seeing the Amish clip clop past regularly. This time we hiked all the way rainbow ridge and enjoyed the woods and view of the farm filled above . Logan checks in to see how everything is going - such a nice guy. No mosquitos which was amazing at the end of May. The one outhouse available for use was kept super tidy. Great stay and would come again for sure. If you enjoy a rustic setting, this is the place for you 🤓

We stayed at Beaver Haven at Flutterby Farms and absolutely loved it. The campsite is beautiful, tucked right along the stream with a peaceful, natural feel. The onsite gelato was a total surprise and absolutely amazing. Everything was easy, relaxing, and memorable. We’ll definitely come back.

My partner and I had a great two-night stay at Flutterby Farm over Memorial Day weekend. Our creekside site at Beaver Creek was beautiful—nestled in a peaceful valley with lots of wildlife, including birds, butterflies, and fish. The sites are fairly close together, and ours lacked much tree cover, so privacy was limited. Most campers were families with young kids, so we’d likely return on a quieter weekend for a more secluded experience. Some sites further back or at Frond seemed more private. Amenities were simple but nice—the outhouse was clean, and the barn with sheep and other animals was a fun touch. We also enjoyed hiking to Rainbow Ridge (though it’s a bit overgrown—wear long pants). Overall, it was a relaxing nature escape, and we’d definitely consider coming back.

Absolutely beautiful site! The landscape was gorgeous and the kids had a blast playing in the creek, which was just a short walk down the hill and across the road. We had no issues getting our cars up to the site, and Logan answered any questions we had. The price was pretty steep per person, but it was a holiday weekend so I assume that's why. Would love to come back sometime.

A wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Flutterby is a very beautiful place. Tai and Stella were very helpful over the app and Logan worked hard to keep everything running. It was a busy weekend for camping this Memorial Day. Flutterby seemed full, but not crowded. The gelato fridge was a very pleasant surprise. The sheep were super cute and those chickens were about as charismatic as can be. Thank you, Flutterby and all your caretakers!

This is the 2nd time we came here camping and it was just as great as last time! The spring water, the friendly sheep, the walking paths, all so perfect. I also like to note that it was just my daughter and I and we felt completely safe and comfortable! Definitely recommend

What a beautiful, peaceful and fun-to-explore campsite! We loved doing a creek walk in our water shoes, hiking the mowed trails and saying hi to the baby lambs. Very kind and accommodating owners/groundkeeper. The road is so quiet. Barely any vehicles went by. We'd book this site again and recommend it!

Beautiful, secluded campsite with a babbling brook running through!! The region is gorgeous in the fall. The outhouse was clean and well kept. Tai + Stella’s visitor guide and map were very informative and easy to follow. Logan brought us firewood and allowed us to enjoy the area in peace. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an escape out in nature.

Off the beaten path, rustic & quiet (human-wise) but lots of wildlife sounds & horse/buggies echo peacefully through the valley. Pack to be self-sufficient & it’s a wonderful piece of land to get off the grid - especially setting up next to the cold, clear stream

What a gem! This magical valley offers private campsites with a meandering creek running by—perfect for cooling off on a hot day. Settle into your hammock with a book, then stargaze under some of the darkest, most breathtaking skies you’ll ever see. The resident herd of sheep adds so much charm—you can watch and listen to them as you relax. The outhouse is impressively clean and well-kept, and you can purchase nice-sized bundles of firewood right on site. Honestly, you don’t need to leave the property for a fun, restorative weekend. For a little adventure, hike up Rainbow Ridge and catch sight of the neighbor’s horses. Did I mention this place is magical? I can’t wait to come back!

We stayed at the second campsite in Beaver Haven. An amazing spot with the stream looping around it. Outhouses are in top notch shape! Fresh spring water was a plus too! The hosts are great at communication and offering assistance to their guests.

The camp was absolutely beautiful and Tai and Stella were great, leading us to the site and showing us around. The farm is picturesque and the spring water was icing on the cake. There is a spring that flows through the farm and you wake up in the morning to birds and a babbling brook.

Oasis camping at Coyote Car Camp

This space is like a dream, definitely not like any campground I've been to before. The winding country roads passing by buggies and neighbors waving were signs we were going to the right place. Our site was surrounded by a babbling creek that we splashed around in during the day. The dogs especially enjoyed that part! Each site was spread out and private, with the creek joining the grounds together. The compost outhouse was awesome and I never had to wait in line even with all of the spots occupied. It was so peaceful and tranquil but we also felt able to let loose and have joyful moments. Having spring water and firewood available was amazing and we only had to leave the property once to reup on supplies (theres poor service but reliable wifi to upload maps to the nearest stores, noted on the welcome guide). If you have dogs or children there are spots that are more secluded to choose from. We liked Coyote to camp by our cars but our pups are still practicing not barking hello every time a neighbor passed by. We felt so lucky to have to found this slice of bliss amongst the acres of farmland and rolling forests. Being there exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to go back.
