Learn more about this land: n*Everland Barnyard is an eccentric art installation space created from found, recycled, and repurposed building materials in the heart of Grant Wood Country in Jones County, Iowa. We are not a commercial campground. Firmly in the realm of Outsider Art, Gothic and rustic, Bob Kellogg has created a place unlike anywhere else in the world that represents freedom and inspires endless creativity. The land provides multiple camp sites for easy access to bike and walking trails taking visitors into town or through the Wapsipinicon State Park across the river from the property. Anamosa offers several restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses all within walking distance and less than a mile from our land. Kayak the Wapsi (we recommend a Matsell Bridge put in with a stop at the historic General Store Eatery in Stone City) and end only a mile away from your campsite at the Barnyard in Anamosa at the dam takeout. Visit the State Penitentiary Museum, hang out with the Barnyard chickens, hike our wooded trails, or simply unwind. This place is a magical retreat unlike anywhere else in the world. If you are seeking to disconnect from the world, find presence and live in the Now, this is the place for you.  There is a beautiful spring-fed water hole ideal for swimming in the state park, as well as access to the river from our property (although we do not recommend swimming in the river due to pollutants.)  Watching the sunset at the river is one of our absolutely favorite ways to end the day.  As of 2021, we have a newly constructed wood-fired pizza oven. Inquire upon booking about availability and pricing. You will not be disappointed, roasting any food and baking pizza in the outdoor oven is absolutely amazing!

You found the right place!
Xene and Bob are masters of hospitality! Watch out: you may never want to leave. They put together delicious homemade meals for me and the other guests in the beautiful outdoor oven they built — stuffed peppers with salsa with ingredients from their garden, and the next night, watermelon and veggie lasagna with foraged mushrooms and more garden pickings! Sooo tasty. Also: you can GO INSIDE the various buildings and structures. There’s so much to see, and you’re welcome to wander as you please. Be sure to ask Bob for a tour of the barn he built and the artifacts he found excavating. Amazing! And if this isn’t enough, you can take an art class in the art barn, get your hair braided, collect some fresh farm eggs, borrow one of their bikes, take the trail behind the property all the way to Wapsipinicon State Park trails… they have it all!

We loved how eclectic and unique the property was. The Teepee was comfortable and spacious. The hospitality matched the properties communal feel, in heart and imagination. Home cooked meals and great conversations with the hosts and other guests were a delightful surprise.

Peaceful
Upon arrival, you will be so warmly welcomed! The hosts were very nice, fun and emitted a sense of peace that could be felt. It was nice hanging with them and other guests around their outdoor kitchen. If you are there to have alone time, there is also plenty of that at your site. I loved walking in the woods and the state park is right there if you want more things to do. They were so genuinely nice, thoughtful and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. I will definitely be back for the much needed relaxation.

A hidden gem of magic!
Can’t thank Bob enough for his hospitality and for sharing his story and creations with us! I brought my 9 year old son along for a spontaneous one night getaway. Short but so sweet! Bobs collection of art spoke to our hearts, we never stopped smiling. Between great conversation with Bob and learning of his story, the wonderful collection of magic he has created and shares with the world, and the splendor of views! Simply the best. Thank you Bob! We anxiously await our return!
