Another camper in grassy clearing within the forest, approximately 600 feet away from lake. Owner's home is out of sight and sound 1/4 mile away.  Pasture and forest property borders 2500 feet of private lake front.  Property also borders the Hiawatha National Forest.  Great pike fishing on shallow lake with access to 10' jon boats with oars and single seat kayaks.  Life vests available. Cabin is one open room with bunk beds that sleep 4 plus a full size futon. Cooking and dish water is provided by hanging 7 gallon jug over kitchen sinks. No indoor toilets, outhouse available at all three sites. Gas cooking stove and wood burning stove/oven for heat and cooking. Battery powered electric lights. Wood burning interior stove and sauna at cabin. Campers have no interior heat. Water, box of firewood, pots and pans, and utensils provided. Bring food, ice, and drinking water. Bring charcoal and lighter fluid if you want to use small grills outside. Kathy was amazing! We decided to take a chance and tent camp in late October. The site is very peaceful and she built firewood up for our first fire upon arrival. We left many things behind on the days we traveled to fish or hike with no worries. The river and woods are peaceful. Appreciate the water she leaves to clean hands and cookware! Look forward to returning and camping next year. Thank you Kathy and Randy!

Really lovely environment! The cottage is perfect for 3 of us + our dogs. A nice reprieve from tenting! Outdoor space is large with firepit, table and some chairs. Rob was attentive with communications and making sure all was good. We would stay here again!

I loved camping here for Labor Day Weekend! If you are camping in Door county this is a good spot. Just make sure you have a thick blanket or camping mat for the ground. There are large mulch pieces. It was very clean, pretty, and a great spot!

We went tent camping here with our 2 dogs and had a great time. Very clean facilities and nice amenities. Plus it's convenient to all the door county activities we had planned. One thing I would say would have made our stay a little better is if there were an additional bathroom on the other side of the site. We stayed in a site that was on the opposite end of the property from the bathrooms and it was kind of annoying having to walk that far if we needed to go in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning when you really gotta go. I think even a port-o-potty would have been good.

Everything went well, I loved it, my Wife loved it and so did my daughter, she had so much fun on the playground, and the facility is immaculate. Clean clean clean. Big bonus, considering i have seen so many showers that were filthy. The owners absolutely care a out the people that come here and stay, that is the exact feeling my wife and I said to eachother. They think of many small and large details! They are still getting better and better and doing what they can to improve the site, what more can you ask for. 10/10 would recommend, in fact, i am going back up next weekend to stay again for a fishing trip with the boys!

My dogs and I had a fantastic stay car camping at this site. I spent most of my time paddleboarding in the river and I would highly recommend this site to folks who enjoy paddle sports. The water was clear with a muddy bottom. Feeding the fish was definitely a highlight! There was plenty of shade and grassy areas for me to exercise my dogs. I had no issues with bugs; not even mosquitoes. I didn't have to wear any bug repellant. There was no grill grate or tripod for cooking so keep that in mind. The site is a bit noisy, you can hear the nearby highway traffic, lawn mowing and train. I came on a Saturday and there were gunshots going off until dark (maybe a shooting range nearby?) But those are things the host can't change. I brought a white noise machine along and that helped a lot. Overall I had a fantastic time at this site and can't wait to come back.

We really enjoyed this site. It was private, secluded and well maintained. Kathy and her husband were very kind and attentive, and they did everything they could to make our stay pleasurable, including driving over to unplug some of the fairy lights so we could have darkness near our tent. The only negative feeling I have regarding this site is the traffic noise, it is VERY loud and noticeable, it got a little better at night, but still obvious. I feel like it's just something to be aware of. We would come here again though, no doubt.

Camping at Riverside was a wonderful get away for our 1 year wedding anniversary. The spot is private and wonderfully manicured. It was great to have a Porta Potty onsite, and the shower bags were a good sent for rinsing off and cleaning up dishes. Kathy and Randy were friendly, and responsive. Our pup Kitty LOVES the river! Having access to firewood on site was another plus! We will definitely be back if we are in the area!

Weekend Trip to River View Get Away

This was our 2nd time staying here and we highly recommend it. It is a great place, well maintained, private and perfect place to bring dogs that aren't use to being around tons of people or on leash. Its a safe place to post up and go explore Norway, Iron Mountain and much more. Kathy and Randy are amazing hosts and we enjoyed visiting with them again this year.

Weekend Trip to CAMP Door County!

Great campsite! Very well developed and maintained. We were there during a terrible storm, the staff were so conscientious and caring of their campers...the staff found a temporary camper for a couple who lost their tent in the storm. How great is that! We will definitely visit Camp Door again! Thanks for a great experience.

Weekend Trip to HTR Door County

What a great stay! My family and I spent our weekend at one of the two bedroom cottages. The second room was great for our toddler while our dog spent the night with us in the main bedroom. It was great having a shower and toilet in the cottage along with all the other amenities. HTR handles trash and even delivered our firewood making things quite exceptional. The grounds have a pool and playground near by that helped keep our toddler occupied, but with HTR in Egg Harbor, you're right in the thick of Door Peninsula with easy access to so many attractions and recreational sites.

2 nights at River View Get Away

This was such a wonderful site. There was a lot of time put in to it. I was pleasantly surprised that there were not a lot of bugs. My favorite thing was the hammocks they have by the water. You also can feed the trout in the river! I plan on coming back next year!

Hang by the windy waters of Newport State Park. While there’s no official boat launch, nothing but your own perseverance is stopping you from taking out the canoe or kayak. It can get windy on the water, so I would leave the floppy hats at home! Explore the 30 miles of foot and bike trails, fish for a bit, and end the day with a picnic before you reluctantly head back to the real world. Winter brings trails for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and skate skiing, so don’t think you won’t be back once the weather takes a turn... for the better?

When to go

The best time to visit Newport State Park is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when the trails are accessible and the night skies are clear for stargazing. Winter can be harsh, with limited access and activities due to snow and ice.
