A secluded & beautiful place. The mornings were especially pretty there. I met Dave and Donna, their horses, and their dog. They were very friendly and accommodating and Dave drove up to the site with extra firewood when I asked for it. I had a great stay and I'd definitely come back.

Amazing property. Very very private with gods country views. Great hosts. They gave us a wonderful tour of their farm. My kids loved the baby pigs and horses.
The driving trail off-road to site was a bit scary for our 31ft RV. It’s grass and bumpy and tilted. But we made it ok after a bit of concern.

Very private campsite. Even with rain it was beautiful with the green treetops emerging from a low fog. If you want to be in a remote area with a view and (I imagine) lots of stars, this is the spot. Couldn’t ask for a nicer host and hostess. They gave us a tour of their barn with antique farm equipment. We got to feed sheep, see 4 new piglets, and 2 stately horses. Very interesting and civically active couple.

Donna and Dave were amazing and the property was also amazing! I enjoyed every minute being there. The stars in the night sky with the weak light pollution was an added perk for sure. Thanks again!

It's worth repeating, Donna and Dave are lovely hosts and their property is spectacular. The views and the privacy can't be beat. The campsite is large and beautifully maintained. There is a very nice firepit, a picnic table and plenty of level space to set up camp. We were glad we had bug spray, but not too bad overall (just typical of the time of year). Flush toilets and water are available about a 1/2 mile away. Our dog had as much fun as we did. Thank you Donna and Dave for sharing your magical space! We would have loved to stay longer and hope to return!

As other reviewers have said this place is absolutely wonderful. I truly don't know if car camping gets any better than this spot. Campsite is a large mowed area, relatively level. It's on a hill top(as the name suggests) with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The site is about 1/2 mile off a very lightly traveled road so very peaceful and private. Although no water or toilet at the site the hosts allowed use of a nearby building (~3/4 mile away) We enjoyed morning walks on the property, a couple short hikes nearby, Northern Sun winery, and evenings by the fire pit. Our dogs also had a fantastic time. Thanks Donna and Dave for sharing your property!

After 20 plus years of hiking and exploring Northern Wisconsin and the UP I can tell you there are some very special places right in the upper midwest, this is one such place.
What makes this campsite special is something other reviewers have mentioned. Specifically how private and secluded this space feels. The campsite's location is truly unique, surrounded by higher ground in the distance , the campsite itself is on top of a ridge that overlooks a valley.
The result is a private paradise filled with plenty of space to relax, play or simply enjoy the sounds of nature.
My visit was in early summer and I enjoyed the sounds of the whippoor-wills as the sun went down. The owls awakened at dusk and the sound of playful coyotes in the valley below melted with my dreams.
I came away with a sense of gratitude not only to Donna and Dave for sharing the special gift with all of us but also to Donna's ancestors who recognized this special place and did what they could to keep it as such.

This was just the trip my Boyfriend and I needed! It was nice to stay tucked back into the woods and have an AMAZING view! Unplugging for the weekend and being able to enjoy the outdoors and recharge was well needed. The view was amazing and the camping area was so spaced out! We’re tent campers and had a easy set up and take down and plenty of space to throw a frisbee around and set up camp. Donna and Dave were great, very nice people and provided firewood for the nights we stayed as well! 10/10 stay :) !

This place is a true gem and I’m so glad we had a chance to stay here. We couldn’t have asked for a better view and the total privacy was exactly what we wanted. Donna kept our site stocked with plenty of firewood. Our dogs loved it too!

A nice, spacious and secluded campsite with good views of the forest, a picnic table and large fire pit surrounded by stones. Hosts are very nice and had a bundle of firewood waiting for us when we arrived and even brought more out to the site for us. They were also nice enough to show us around thier farm and gave us fresh eggs. We plan to visit again.

What a great peaceful and totally private location. The view is amazing. The stars at night are a definite must see. The site itself was large, clean, and well maintained. Nice long range view from the fire pit at night and a cool grilling grate to slide over the pit. Donna and Dave were very gracious hosts and were incredibly helpful in giving us directions (when we took a wrong turn) at 9:30 pm and greeted us upon arrival at dark! Firewood was at the site too! Had a wonderful tour of their farm and they were super fun to talk with. We drove 5 hrs to get there and are planning a trip back in the fall! You don’t want to pass on this top notched Hipcamp in the U.P.!!!

Such an amazing spot to camp. We spent two nights here on a trip up to the UP over Memorial Day weekend, and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It feels like you're totally alone out there, with just the sounds of birds, a couple coyotes off in the distance, and some wild turkey screams to start the morning. (Just be sure to check for ticks if you go for a walk in the woods!)
Donna and Dave were super responsive, friendly, and helpful. They dropped off plenty of firewood for both nights (especially useful when it got down into the 30s), and when we had car trouble trying to leave for a hike at 5.30am, Dave was over within a few minutes to give us a jump. All very much appreciated. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking to get away.

We throughly enjoyed our stop over at Hilltop View. It is so beautiful and peaceful! The directions were easy to follow and Donna was very responsive. We look forward to stopping by again soon!

Beautiful rustic overlook campsite surrounded by nature. We enjoyed a great campfire at night with many stars and a beautiful sunrise in the morning. We took a tour of the farm to meet the chickens, sheep, dog, and horses. Donna gave us 3 freshly laid eggs which we enjoyed with our breakfast. They had just shorn their sheep, and they bagged some fleece for my mother-in-law who spins wool. We filled our fresh water tank at their barn. Large stack of ready to go firewood at the fire ring and picnic table. Many trails on the property to explore with the kid and dog. Surprisingly great cell phone service (AT&T). We did stop at their communal building to wash up and use the potty prior to moving on. Lovely people with a gem of a property!

This site was exactly what we hoped for! The views of the hardwoods and stars were incredible and the site has everything that we needed. Plus we got to visit some of the animals on the farm in the morning!

We only booked for one night and when we got there we all discussed wanting another night to really soak up the different views and hiking trails. Luckily they had an opening. Donna and her husband really sweet and brought us firewood both nights. The sound of nothing but nature during our stay. It was just what we needed. The colors of fall were just starting to pop in the trees mid September. Being up on the hill made me feel like royalty... rustic camping style! We could see all the land. Hiking The rolling fields and making hot pressed coffee in the morning looking out was my favorite part!!!! Who wouldn’t want to wake up to that view!!!

We arrived in the dark and had no trouble following directions provided by Donna. There was firewood waiting for us and we were given more firewood after some rainfall on our first day. Everything was beautiful and just as we expected. Our dogs had a wonderful time and so did we! We would definitely recommend camping here!

We had an amazing time. The site was very clean and very private. We enjoyed watching the meteor showers while we were there because the sky was so vibrant at night. There was a pile of wood waiting for us when we arrived along with a small picnic table which was great! We spent our days exploring off-road trails nearby and our evenings enjoying the serenity of Elmcrest Acres. During the night we could hear coyotes in the distance. In the mornings, we could hear the roster, sheep, and horses from the nearby farm if we listened. When we went down to the folk schoolhouse to get water for cooking & washing we were greeted by Donna & her husband who were very welcoming. They told us we could use the restrooms in the schoolhouse, get water, and to use it throughout the night if there were any storms. We didn't have to use it during the night but it was nice to know it was there. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed this location. It was everything that we hoped it would be!

Gorgeous and private. Had such a great stop here on our cross country trip. We’re originally from Michigan, so this stop really made us feel at home, and I loved every second of it! The site is very well kept, and it was great to be able to have a fire.

This place was fantastic. The site was huge and maintained by mowing so there was a nice lawn. The view was beautiful and we caught a perfect sunset AND sunrise. Our dog ran around to his heart’s content because there was no one nearby for him to bother. We hope to return to Elmcrest Acres as soon as possible!

What a cool spot! I love that I didn't have to deal with any loud music, noisy neighbors or any other normal campground noises you might encounter. The location is very clearly marked and the path is very easily accessible by car. No 4x4 needed. Donna was very responsive with questions I had and the directions are very clear. There's an excellent view for star gazing.

We loved our stay at Hilltop View! Donna and her husband were helpful and welcoming, making sure we had thorough directions for arrival on the back roads. We appreciated the firewood provided next to the pit. The site was the perfect balance of ¨real camping¨ and comfort, with potable water and toilets available down the main road. Good trees for hammocking. As mentioned in other reviews, the view of the Milky Way is second to none from the camp site. I came home with 0 bug bites, which was incredible in late July. Our only regret was not having had more time to explore. Thank you to the hosts!
