Pioneer Gully Bushland is located in Buninyong, just 15 minutes from Ballarat. The area is rich in history from the gold fossicking days. Our campsites are in the bush area of our property and offer plenty of space, privacy and shade. There is a dam on the property where you are welcome to try your hand at fishing. There is an old mine on the property which is fenced off but it is something we are happy to show you. Please speak to us before going anywhere near the mine. There are plenty of walks and hikes to enjoy on the property and in the surrounding area including Mount Buninyong which is right next to us. The region is really popular for bike riders and it is a great way to see the surrounding areas. Sovereign Hill is less than 15 minutes away and is a great day out for the whole family. Have a go at panning for gold, enjoy one of the many shows and presentations and learn all about the history of the regions. Enjoy a campfire in the fire pit provided for you and enjoy some brilliant star gazing in the evenings. Pets are welcome. Campers must be self sufficient with their own toilet and take all waste with them on departure.

3 Extra Large site caravan/RV
Overall it was a good experience. There was no meet an great as the owners no longer live in the area. We where lucky there was no one else there as one of the other camp sites was in view from where we were. We picked the best one to camp out of the 3 spots. Unfortunately there was rubbish left in a 2nd fire spot (made themselves not the main fire pit) and there was quite a bit of toilet paper spread out in the bushes around the area.

1 Large campsite with firepit
Great spot in a bush setting, would definitely go back if there was another spot not on a slope. Heaps of wood around and was quite/private. We really enjoyed it.

1 Large campsite with firepit
Nice quiet bush setting, good communication, plenty of kangaroos about. The only con was the unevenness. It was a challenge to find a suitable spot to pitch a tent, the whole site is on a slope

Pioneer Gully Bushland Campsites
Great private spot for a couple of nights over the weekend where you’re not on top of other campers! Site is on a slight slope but we made it work and we managed to spit roast a lamb shoulder over the fire drum. Thanks to Renae for being a great host :)

Bush camp all to yourself
Ripper private little bush camp. Super peaceful with plenty of firewood around! If there’s been a bit of rain, you’ll want 4wd and also wouldn’t recommend anything over a 16-18ft van on site 3, would be a struggle to turn around. But overall, highly recommend for a weekend reset.

Camping with friends and their dog
Beautiful camp with loads of firewood to collect! Location perfect to explore Ballarat. Renae a very responsive host. Site slippery when as wet as it was on our visit but just check with Renae and she will provide information and options as there are a few sites available.
