The property is bordered by he Murrundini River on one side, 1km, with hill side views on the other. All campsites have easy access the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Site One is a large flat area close to the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. All sites and river swimming are clothing optional, but please respect other campers in public area's if on site. In response to a recent review, I will point out that the driveway is a gravel farm track. Normal 2Wd cars have not had any recent issues. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). I am hoping to increase the nesting and habitat for as many local birds as possible, which has improved, but can get better with Your help. Not destroying large logs and tree's is first and foremost. But if you are inclined , funds for creating nesting spots are greatly appreciated. You can directly ask for donations to go towards specific prospects/ projects. Tawney frog mouths, king parrots, and many, many other birds call this place home. For donations specific to conservation, please contact me direct. With recent changes, Temporarily, removing site 2. please contact me for regulars. With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

Site one is very large, flat and open, beside the river (approx 1400m2). It has fencing and a gate you can close to let dogs run freely, while keeping them close. There is a picnic table, and stone fire place, with swing out grill (fire drum with hot plate is available). There is a new gas BBQ with roasting hood (BYO new type black handled gas bottle), please leave clean after use. Be mindful of potential falling branches when setting up your site, there is plenty of space to site your tent/ van The swimming area of river is well screened by trees and bushes for those wanting a total naturist experience. There is a 3000L rainwater tank for drinking water.

Secluded camp; shady spot, surrounded by tall gum trees, Black-wood and Silver wattles, and tree ferns. The river is right beside the camp, and is shallower here, ideal for young kids to play and slash in. Fire drum provided with hot plate/ grill. There is now a hooded gas BBQ for your use (BYO gas bottle, please leave clean) This site, while perfect in warm weather, can be damp in winter and early spring. Recommend 4WD in winter and early spring. Please be mindful of potential falling branches. There is a cleared overflow area at the entrance to site 2 proper that is not under the large gum trees, for those that are concerned. Approx 905m2 altogether.

Site 3, "Craig's Flat", is a large, flat cleared area on the edge of the big paddock, beside the river (approx 1444m2) It can accommodate several camper-vans/ tents, etc. It is flat and dry, 2WD most of the time, the track to it can become muddy in late winter. There is a gas BBQ (BYO gas bottle) with roasting hood for use. (please clean after use). * Note: recommend 4WD to access in winter if very wet weather. 2WD fine most of the year. There is original native vegetation along the river banks, and newer plantings on the paddock side. Heaps of native wildlife and birds to see. This site is suited to quiet family groups, not for party's. There are great views from the hill, and it is close to scenic reserves, waterfalls and wineries. Plenty of fish in the river for those that want to try. Feel free to be natural at site and in the river, but respect others in communal areas (toilet block), and be able up cover up if needed.

It’s a fantastic location with plenty of open space, walking trails, and the river right nearby — perfect for relaxing, exploring, fishing, and enjoying nature. The fenced areas are great for pets, giving them plenty of room to run and enjoy themselves safely. We loved the peaceful surroundings & beautiful scenery. It’s an easy drive from Melbourne and would highly recommend this spot for both experienced campers and first-time campers looking for a relaxing getaway.

Great weekend camping at Fern Glade

We loved the camping experience at Fern Glade site 2 over the weeekend. The best thing was that it was just 1 hour and 15 minutes from where we live and it still felt so remote and quiet. The site is beautiful and really gived you the remote camping experience. There is a stream running through the property and great for fishing trout. There is also a great hiking trail 20 minites drive from the site. Overall a great experience. Michael who is the host was very helpful with all the guidance and instructions and was great to deal with

Our family loved camping here! Access to creek at Site 1 was great. We even saw a wombat at night. Short walk to toilet which was handy! Would come again!

Rainy Weekend at Fern Glade 🌧️

Recently went camping at Fern Glade, Murrindindi and stayed at Site 2. The campsite was easy to access with a 2WD, and each site was clearly marked which made it easy to find our spot. We camped right near the river and were lucky enough to spot a huge fish swimming by. There was also plenty of wildlife around — lots of kookaburras during the day and even a wombat wandering around at night. It rained for pretty much the entire trip, but the campsite was still enjoyable. Each site comes with a fire pit and picnic table, which made setting up camp convenient despite the weather. The toilets were a bit of a walk from our site, but they were accessible when needed. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back again, especially when the weather is nicer. The only thing that could make the experience even better would be having toilet facilities closer to, or at, each campsite.

The Fern Glad was amazing! Gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and lovely water sounds from the creek. We treked out to the nearby waterfall which was definitely worth the effort! Even with our late autumn trip, we managed to stay super warm with help from the fire pit - absolute life saver!

We enjoyed camping at site 1 beside the river, the calming sound of a river flowing was nice and made for a relaxing weekend. The site was flat with a firepit, bbq and picnic table which made for a great stay. A great view of the surrounding farmland can be had from the hill top. The onsite toilet was located in a shed a few hundred metres away, the flush toilet and hand basin were clean and was handy to have. The track into the site was fine, just care is needed towing a caravan as it can be narrow in some spots. Other sites were occupied but as they were spread out no noise could be heard, sites are quite private. This camp was well located to use as a base to explore the local Murrindindi area.

Great spot, have stayed here multiple times. Having a proper toilet is a real bonus. The river is beautiful and the land is nice and flat for tents/swags.

Perfect weekend getaway!

We were at Site 1 and it was spectacular! Lots of space, firepit with grill plates, bbq, and picnic table were super handy as well as being a stone's throw away from the drinking water. Toilet block was a short stroll. We had a wombat friend visit over night, and flame robins all over camp during the day. We marvelled at the wedge-tailed eagles and king parrots the whole weekend. The river was stunning but safe and secured by a gate which was handy for us camping with toddlers. We even had a picnic up the hill by the loveseat which had stunning views and was well worth the hike. Such an awesome place! Thanks Michael.

Really enjoyed our stay. Michael was very friendly and welcoming. Appreciated the proactive communication with getting to site. The dogs loved having all of the space to run around and the surrounds were so peaceful. We couldn’t hear anything except the running creek. We would visit again. Thank you

Another great weekend at the fern glade, site 3 craigs flat has become a staple location for our winter camps. Always well maintained and gorgeous no matter the weather. Michael is a legend to deal with and as soon as you arrive you can see why this place is voted so highly. Worst part is leaving! Cant wait to come back 👌

I enjoyed a wonderful experience camping at Fern Glades. So peaceful, right next to a babbling brook, and beautiful trees. I can’t wait to return. Highly recommend this for anyone seeking a peaceful sight to camp. Michael is also a lovely friendly host.

We had a great time at Site 3. Michael introduced himself, was more than welcoming and happy to point things out to us. The river access is good for the kids. Plenty of space for play - and a walk. As a first real camp experience for the kids, they really enjoyed it and so did we. Couple of reds by the fire at night, the stars and satellites will keep your eyes open! We’ll be back again.

A really wonderful place for people looking for a quiet and peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Michael was a great host and we all loved the surrounding, especially in the early morning with the cold air and fog covering the entire area.

Peaceful, relaxing, nice location. He's having a spat with the neighbour, got a call a at peak relaxation quizzing whether we crossed fences. We did indeed along rivers edge which are legally entitled to. Didn't appreciate it.

Site one at the Fern Glades was an absolute dream. Loads of space and fully fenced, our dogs had a great time running around, and our camp-site was spread out. The Murrindindi river flows right past, and is gorgeous. Didn't seem deeper than waist height, but flows fast - perfect for a refreshing dip! Quiet, private and surrounded by nature, with only 300m to walk to a flush toilet!! We'll absolutely be back, thank you Michael.

We stayed at Site 3 during our trip and had a fantastic experience. The site was spacious, giving us plenty of room to relax and enjoy our time together. Being right beside the river, and also conveniently close to the toilet was really helpful. Michael was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which made everything smooth and welcoming.

Great location with open space for pets to run around in a fenced off area. Plenty of trails to walk around and river is right next to the campsite for fishing. Highly recommended for inexperienced campers like ourselves
