Caravan parks in Victoria

·

Victoria is arguably a year-round Australia holiday destination, where you don't have to travel far from Melbourne to find a caravan park that immerses you in nature. In the springtime, you can head to the Grampians to catch the wildflowers in full bloom, but it's summer when the state really kicks off: Think water skiing on the mighty Murray River, driving along the Great Ocean Road, cycling through Gippsland, birdwatching near Lakes Entrances, or sampling wines on High Country wineries, including throughout Yarra Valley. Holiday parks and campsites are as varied as the landscape, offering everything from cabin accommodations and glamping to family-friendly holiday parks with all the bells and whistles. Caravan sites on private land typically feature unpowered sites with basic amenities, including camp kitchens with barbecues, with cafes and national parks just a short drive away.

The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we anticipate our Fire Danger Period for the 2025/2026 Summer Season will commence in the coming weeks. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. In event of the TFB toggle needing to be used on Hipcamp, this will advise all guests booked on that day and to all future guests. We will toggle it off once the TFB is removed. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely be on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property and our family.

Due to an over demand we require weekend stays during the Summer months November to March to be a minimum two night stay. Guests are required to check in on Fridays, with Friday and Saturday nights as the two night minimum. Weekends during this period need to be booked by contacting hosts who will open the sites on the calendar on request to allow the booking to be done online. Those guests requiring a longer stay that overlap a weekend can also be accommodated. Just give us a call and we will find a spot for you. If you are checking dates and a weekend is open, then luck is with you and I have opened the calendar as I'm working on site. If this is the case, single night stays can be booked. *_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_* Looking for a peaceful and secluded spot to park up whilst exploring the Yarra Valley winery region, the Dandenong Ranges, or some of Melbourne's close regional towns like Healesville, Yarra Glen and Warburton? We have opened up a beautiful flat expanse at the rear of our five acre property and made it available to self contained campers and caravaners. We are travelers ourselves and often find it difficult to find peaceful yet secure spots that allow us to explore capital cities and the lovely areas around them. Most cities tend to have caravan parks in the outer suburbs and these can often resemble concrete jungles and be very busy leaving you feel like you have to pay a top premium to be cramped into a space. But what options do you have if you want to explore a vibrant city like Melbourne. See a show, do some shopping, eat out at some of the World's greatest restaurants. Yes, we all should splurge every now and then even when on the road. Our property lies at the very start of the Yarra Valley. It is surrounded on three sides by the magnificent Helens Hill vineyard. In the Summer months you can watch the fruit come onto the vines and in the Winter the views open up to see the kangaroos bouncing though the rows and often silhouetted against the skyline sunsets. We are less than 5 minutes to Lilydale town center. Supermarkets, restaurants, service centers, parts stores, hardware are all on the doorstep, yet looking out over the vines you wouldn't know. Lilydale is 38 kms from Melbourne CBD and there is a train station with ample day parking making it super easy to explore the heart of Melbourne and return 'home' to your country retreat for the night. Myki cards available on site FOC. There is a dump point only 3kms away at a local caravan park for those that need it and at our property water can be available to fill your tanks if needed for a small donation. There is no water or power connection on the sites but you can release your grey water to nourish the grass. Lilydale has a large laundromat available to you. We have a beautiful covered eating area with BBQ available so if the weather turns inclement you can still eat out yet under cover. All campers must be 100% self contained. These are remote sites with no connections and there are no toilet facilities available. We have restricted our area to a maximum of 6 sites to ensure that everyone has their space. Sites are not marked and locations will be on a first booked basis. Owners will direct you to your areas. The area is beautifully flat and does absorb water well but care must be taken to not tear it up after heavy rains. Please seek assistance from owners rather than tearing up the grass as a tractor is available. We can cater for large sized vans and even large motorhomes. Tents are welcome. The property is pet friendly but not fully fenced so your furry friends would need to be on lead. We have our own dogs on the property. Hipcamp being USA based describes the sites and vehicles in USA terms and lengths. There is no way to alter this but please be aware. We cater for Aussie sized caravans and 4wd vehicles. 14 or 15m long all up, no problem. Just in a 4x4 with roof top tent and awning, we have you covered. Cruising the country in a Commodore with a pop top, all good here. Please be aware that we do share a boundary with a working vineyard and they do occasionally have a tractor or crew out in the vines doing some work. There can be a bit of farm machinery work every now and then but this is beyond our control and generally very minimal as vines dont take much looking after unless its harvest night.

91 Gordons Bridge Road was once part of a pine plantation that had been planted in the late 60's and harvested just prior to the Black Saturday fires. Across the road from the Kinglake National Park, it is surrounded by protected flora and fauna. Victoria's Pink heath, wattles and tea tree provide a pleasant backdrop in season. It is not an uncommon site to see an echidna or two on the property, with black wallabies, kangaroos and wombats often seen grazing on pasture in the evening. The mud turrets are the home of endangered land yabbies and Lyrebirds have been seen in the area. Feral deer have come to inhabit nearby properties and sometimes wonder down the track. Birds watchers will enjoy a variety of bird life that inhabit the area including eagle hawks, fairy wrens, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots and yellow tailed black cockatoos when in season. The area is a popular spot for hikers with the start of the Mountain Creek trail only a few kms down Gordons Bridge Road and serious cyclists train regularly, on Mount Slide, especially on the weekend. For the serious wine lover the property is within 15km of the Yarra Valley Wine Growing area with many wineries offering tastings.

Balmattum, VIC · 19 sites · Tents, RVs
Camp beside the peaceful waters of Faithfulls Creek on our private 700-acre regenerative cattle farm in the beautiful Strathbogie Ranges, just outside Euroa. Glenmaye is a quiet valley property where campsites are well spaced and surrounded by nature. Granite hills rise above the valley and over 500 acres of wilderness bushland stretch out behind the farm, creating a peaceful setting that feels more like a private nature reserve than a campground. A favourite activity for guests is the short bush walk along the creek to Marraweeny Falls, where water cascades over granite rocks into a beautiful natural pool. Along the creek you’ll also find several swimmable waterholes that are perfect for cooling off on warm days. Wildlife is abundant around Glenmaye. Kangaroos and wallabies are often seen grazing in the valley at dusk, while kookaburras, parrots and other native birds provide the soundtrack to the day. At night the property enjoys incredibly dark skies, making it a wonderful place to sit by the campfire and watch the stars. Our campsites are spread out to give guests privacy and space. They are suitable for tents, camper trailers, vans and some caravans depending on the site, with a mix of easy-access areas and more secluded bush camps. Whether you prefer camping beside the creek, under the trees, or out in the open paddock with big skies overhead, each site offers a slightly different experience. Guests are welcome to explore the property on foot using old farm tracks and bush paths that wind through the hills and granite outcrops. For those who enjoy a short climb, the granite hills above the valley offer beautiful views across the farm and surrounding countryside, especially in the golden light of late afternoon. Glenmaye is a working farm and a natural bush property. With abundant wildlife and creek environments, guests may occasionally encounter snakes or leeches, particularly near the water, so normal bush precautions such as wearing sturdy footwear are recommended. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to camp, swim in natural waterholes, explore bush tracks and enjoy quiet nights under the stars, Glenmaye offers a truly authentic High Country camping experience.
