Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks.
We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies.
Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible.
Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by.
Additionally, we anticipate our Fire Danger Period for the 2025/2026 Summer Season will commence in the coming weeks. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. In event of the TFB toggle needing to be used on Hipcamp, this will advise all guests booked on that day and to all future guests. We will toggle it off once the TFB is removed. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely be on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property and our family.

I use a squirter bottle to keep her settled. One look at that and she's off. I'll supply you with yours while you are here.

The Whip Stick Forest campsite is located on the outskirts of Bendigo. This is an ideal place to take a break away from it all. Peace and tranquility surrounded by nature. We are just far enough away from the town to offer the outdoors feel and close enough to town to enjoy sightseeing, and many outdoor activities and access to shops, fuel and most of the usual shopping needs.
Here you will find a nice open space amongst the gum trees with drinking water, toilet, and outdoor shower.

Relax under the stars with a warm fire in a secluded spot in the middle of open space and the fresh air.
The property is fenced off, so you can feel safe and secure. You can relax and let the kids can run around knowing they are safe inside the camp ground.
There are five dogs who live here. They are all friendly and love people.
Lily the Rotwieller is only 12 months old and very playful.
She has a thing for shoes, so please make sure they are always hidden away.
Along with anything else you don't want a naughty puppy to make a meal of.
If you don't like dogs you probably shouldn't stay here as my dogs love people.
Only minutes from town where you will find supplies, close to the local swimming pool and 10 minutes from a popular watering hole.

I really enjoyed staying at the NRMA Phillip Island Beachfront Park Ensuite Site. It offers easy access to the beach and it is only a short walk to Thompson Avenue and the Cowes pier. The Ensuite Site is perfect for a stop over or for a longer stay. Great place to refresh after a few nights out bush camping. Highly recommended!

The location is fantastic with the Koala sanctuary across the road and Maze N things next door, the site is clean and tidy, the staff are so warm and friendly. We had the en suite pitch and the facilities were really clean and modern. Also the penguin parade is a really easy 10-15min drive and perfectly easy to do in a Motorhome.

Lovely spot to camp. Power and picnic table make it an easy spot for first timers! Toilet is very basic and needs a clean but other than that the goats and dogs are super friendly

Great place to take a group of friends and sit around the camp fire. Unfortunately there was no water in the creek, but apart from that, things were as expected from the photos available. Thanks Taylan and team for a lovely break from the city. Hope you get some rain soon

Camped up on the hilltop with my family (2x adult and 3xkids) and we all love it! It has a flushed toilet that our kids didnt mind using! But the view is so beautiful! The road getting there is like a dirtroad and to enter the property theres a steep road and theres a normal road! We took our jeep wrangler 4x4 and also our range rover up there! Made it up just fine! Wasnt towing anything though! But highly recommend! So peaceful! It was abit windy when we were there but our 6x3 gazebo wasnt even damaged with all the wind! But love love love this place! And taylan was easy to communicate with! Thank you taylan for having us over! Will definitely come back!

We all loved the camping site, mostly the view was wonderful as the pictures.
Even though the main building is quite closed by, it didn't really effect us once set-up our caravan.
(Another site right next us was empty but it seems bit too close so try no power site if you want privacy)
Power site is useful while we can enjoy the natural environment and farm toilet also ^^ (don't expect too much)
I recommend the site for family with school age children as the surface can be rough for young one.
As only an hour away from us, we definitely visit again, try another site.

Where to go
Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road west of Melbourne is one of the world's great scenic road trips, but there’s much more to see and do than snapping a selfie at the Twelve Apostles rock stacks. Zipline above the rainforest in Great Otway National Park, climb lighthouses, watch whales, surf iconic Bells Beach, and pitch a tent on any one of several beachside camping areas. Road tripping doesn't get much better than this.
Gippsland and the Bays
Gippsland stretches east of Melbourne to the sea and north to the border with NSW. Most of the coastline is protected by a string of national parks with fantastic seaside camping spots and holiday parks—and camping at Wilsons Promontory (locals just call it the Prom) on the mainland’s southernmost tip is a must-do at least once. This is also where you’ll find Phillip Island, home to the famous nightly penguin parade.
The Victorian Alps
The High Country is the place to go for winter snow sports and summer mountain bike trails, plus bushwalking. If that sounds too energetic, it’s also home to the Great Alpine Road, one of Australia's best food and wine touring routes (and yes, the scenery is pretty good too).
The Grampians
In the state's west, the Grampians are another mountain playground with a network of bushwalking trails, from quick 2-hour walking tracks to 3-day hikes in the Grampians National Park. This is also where campers can find the highest concentration of Indigenous art in the state. Opt for bush camping sites in the national park or more luxurious campsites at Halls Gap or Dunkeld caravan parks.
Murray Riverlands
Australia's longest river, the mighty Murray forms most of the border with NSW to the north, and all along its length are great beachfront campsites from where you can go for a swim or paddle a kayak, catch a fish, or sit back and watch the world glide by. Elsewhere in the riverlands, ride a restored paddle steamer at Echuca, take a cruise through the largest river red gum forest in the world at Barmah, and dine out in the foodie hot spot of Mildura.
