Riverside King Valley is set on 16 acres on the banks of the King river featuring 10 spacious campsite spread along the property. Just a half an hour drive from Wangaratta, 45 minutes from Benalla and an hour from Mansfield. Each site offers something a little different whether it is a spacious site for a large group or party or a smaller site for a family weekend away.
Our site is accessible for all vehicle types and is dog-friendly as long as pets are well-controlled. Campfires are allowed when restrictions aren’t in place, and firewood and kindling is available for purchase (see Extras).
Please keep in mind that the property is a working farm and there will be cars and machinery onsite nearby to some of the sites. Each powered site has only 1 power supply. Generators can be used but must be used with others in mind.

There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more.
Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience.
Note : The reservoir is currently only open to electric powered boats and canoes.
Dogs are welcome but must be very well behaved around sheep. Flushing toilet available at the shearing shed. Good access for caravans and large RV's.
Amplified music is not allowed.
Local attractions are the historic towns of Maldon, Clunes, Avoca and Dunolly all part of the Central Goldfields. Pyrenees Wine region is a short drive away.

Somerville Park is a 500acre property at Fosterville, 20mins from Bendigo. There are a variety of campsites suitable for self-contained guests who have their own toilet/shower facilities and drinking water. We also have 2 newly developed powered sites for your convenience. Please note, all toilet waste is strictly to be taken off the property. Campfires are permitted in provided fire-pits or your own portable metal fire-pit out of fire restriction times and feel free to bring your furry friends, making sure they're leashed at all times. Some sites also provide chairs and table settings for your convenience.
The farm is completely surrounded by the Wellsford state forest which offers bush walking and many tracks for bike riding. Mt Sugarloaf which is situated south of the property provides a great hike. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets create beautiful reflections on the water in the numerous dams on the property. Rainfall can restrict access to some sites on the property.
The city of Bendigo is 25mins drive. Epsom is a 15min drive where you will find a shopping centre which includes a petrol station, Woollies, Pizza, Chemist Warehouse, Aldi, Brumbys Bakery, Reject Shop, Fish and Chips and BWS. Lake Eppalock is a 25min drive where you can engage in water sport activities. The Campaspe River is 10mins away.
The farm is very quiet and restful with the sounds of abundant native bird life and provides great subjects and scenery for the photographic enthusiast. Loud, party groups with music at high volume are not permitted. Chainsaws and motorbikes are also not permitted.

Glenmaye is a working farm and a natural bush property. With abundant wildlife and creek environments, guests may occasionally encounter snakes or leeches, particularly near the water, so normal bush precautions such as wearing sturdy footwear are recommended.

There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more.
Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience.
Note : The reservoir is currently only open to electric powered boats and canoes.
Dogs are welcome but must be very well behaved around sheep. Flushing toilet available at the shearing shed. Good access for caravans and large RV's.

Please note, all toilet waste is strictly to be taken off the property. Campfires are permitted in provided fire-pits or your own portable metal fire-pit out of fire restriction times and feel free to bring your furry friends, making sure they're leashed at all times. Some sites also provide chairs and table settings for your convenience.
The farm is completely surrounded by the Wellsford state forest which offers bush walking and many tracks for bike riding. Mt Sugarloaf which is situated south of the property provides a great hike. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets create beautiful reflections on the water in the numerous dams on the property. Rainfall can restrict access to some sites on the property.
The city of Bendigo is 25mins drive. Epsom is a 15min drive where you will find a shopping centre which includes a petrol station, Woollies, Pizza, Chemist Warehouse, Aldi, Brumbys Bakery, Reject Shop, Fish and Chips and BWS. Lake Eppalock is a 25min drive where you can engage in water sport activities. The Campaspe River is 10mins away.
The farm is very quiet and restful with the sounds of abundant native bird life and provides great subjects and scenery for the photographic enthusiast. Loud, party groups with music at high volume are not permitted. Chainsaws and motorbikes are also not permitted.

The farm itself is amazing, easily one of the best campsites we’ve ever been to. The views are incredible, especially when hiking to see the falls. Helens property is lovely, as it was a long weekend it actually felt like an unpowered caravan park site without amenities, it had almost double the amount of vans/tents than the ad stated ( eg. 13 sites, but over 20 vans etc ) so not a lot of room between campersNot really my liking of a hipcamp feel this time.
Would I return on another weekend ( not public holiday ) absolutely, would love to come back.

Riverside camp area was absolutely perfect for our group getaway with young kids. Lovely area of the river to play for the kids, lots of space for our caravans and perfect for a large group. It was peaceful and relaxing! Thanks to Ian and Patrick for hosting us. We will be back!

We had a brilliant stay with our group of almost 50 at the Far End Campsite. The site was right beside a beautiful part of the river, toilets were clean, toilet paper and hand soap was a nice added extra. Patrick and Ian were easy to deal with and quick to respond to every question. I'd highly recommend this location.

We stayed 5 days in our tent near the dam. We had our own shower and power. The gardens are spectacular and immaculate. Simply a beautiful spot to camp. Helen manages everything to a very high standard. We bought firewood from Helen for a fire which just added to a great camping experience. I would place this Hipcamp up with the best of them. We enjoy bike riding and the Grand Ridge Rail trail a great ride. Starts at Mirboo North. South Gippsland has many attractions. Helen works very hard to ensure the property is well presented and your stay is enjoyable. There is a shower and toilet on the property for a small fee. One site you can access power for a small fee. Mirboo North about 4K away. Everything you need is there We loved our stay and will be back

We loved every minute of our 2 night stay! Great communication with the Hosts and a lovely and private site. Went for several swims which was divine! The birdlife was prolific and the cows were a hoot. Would totally recommend this place and we hope to be back someday.

Ian's and Patrick's property is tucked away between hills - some covered in native bush, some planted out with pines, and some cleared. We didn't meet Ian, but Patrick greeted us warmly and was very thoughtful and kind, bringing extra dry firewood and kindling after a day and night of rain.
Far End is the pick of the campsites. It's large, flat, and private with easy river access. Also furthest away from the cows/flies. Unfortunately there were armies of ants though, swarming after the rain.
The river was the highlight. It flows quite fast over rocky rapids at this spot, providing constant background white noise that sounds like steady rain, with occasional deep rumblings. Beautiful to sleep next to. Not so many small birds around, but we did see wood ducks, gang gangs and a single heron. There are signs of resident wombats, but sadly we didn't see or hear them.
We camped there for 4 nights. Overall it was very relaxing (apart from the ants!)

Enjoyed my stay! My spot was In The Pines and while it wasn’t directly on the river, Patrick went out of his way to make sure my access point was assessable. The spot was lovely in the tall gums, and was an easy 1min and half walk to the river. I took my chair, book, and coffee down there in the morning.

We really enjoyed our stay at Buffalo River Retreat. The "Far End" is a great campsite, the river was close, and a great spot to cool off and in the rapids or in the deep water just downstream.
Patrick and Ian were extremely friendly and hospitable hosts. They even brought us some fresh fruit and tomatoes from their garden.
Its a short drive to Myrtleford for supplies, or lake Buffalo for a day out on the water.
I highly recommend this spot

It was so lovely to have a river to swim in, peace and quiet, space, a toilet and friendly hosts.
We are already planning on returning again real soon.

Lovely spot with great views and peaceful surrounds, large sites so you have some options of how/where you want to set up, open space or sheltered, etc. I only stayed a night midweek and had the place to myself, but even if there had been campers on the other sites, they were big enough for myself and 3 doggoes to spread out a bit and not be a bother, or feel too close, to anyone else. Great communication from hosts making sure I had no trouble finding the place, which I managed to do easily despite arriving after dark. Would definitely stay again. Thank you 🙏

Where to go
Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road west of Melbourne is one of the world's great scenic road trips, but there’s much more to see and do than snapping a selfie at the Twelve Apostles rock stacks. Zipline above the rainforest in Great Otway National Park, climb lighthouses, watch whales, surf iconic Bells Beach, and pitch a tent on any one of several beachside camping areas. Road tripping doesn't get much better than this.
Gippsland and the Bays
Gippsland stretches east of Melbourne to the sea and north to the border with NSW. Most of the coastline is protected by a string of national parks with fantastic seaside camping spots and holiday parks—and camping at Wilsons Promontory (locals just call it the Prom) on the mainland’s southernmost tip is a must-do at least once. This is also where you’ll find Phillip Island, home to the famous nightly penguin parade.
The Victorian Alps
The High Country is the place to go for winter snow sports and summer mountain bike trails, plus bushwalking. If that sounds too energetic, it’s also home to the Great Alpine Road, one of Australia's best food and wine touring routes (and yes, the scenery is pretty good too).
The Grampians
In the state's west, the Grampians are another mountain playground with a network of bushwalking trails, from quick 2-hour walking tracks to 3-day hikes in the Grampians National Park. This is also where campers can find the highest concentration of Indigenous art in the state. Opt for bush camping sites in the national park or more luxurious campsites at Halls Gap or Dunkeld caravan parks.
Murray Riverlands
Australia's longest river, the mighty Murray forms most of the border with NSW to the north, and all along its length are great beachfront campsites from where you can go for a swim or paddle a kayak, catch a fish, or sit back and watch the world glide by. Elsewhere in the riverlands, ride a restored paddle steamer at Echuca, take a cruise through the largest river red gum forest in the world at Barmah, and dine out in the foodie hot spot of Mildura.
