Peaceful farm, friendly hosts!
We had such a lovely stay at Rustic Roots. The hosts were warm and inviting, even with our very late arrival! The site was a beautiful and spacious spot - we were able to pull through very easily. We had access to water taps, garbage, a campfire pit, an outdoor compost toilet, and a nice hot outdoor shower. We enjoyed getting to know our hosts, hanging out with the animals, and wandering around the farm. It’s an amazing place!
We also so appreciated the hospitality and generosity of our hosts. We’d love to return some day!
I arrived late and the host was warm and welcoming. Set up camp wherever you want on the farmland. I found a plot of flat grass to set up shop. Cats wandering the campus that kept me company. A quick stay for me but would return in a heartbeat.
Awesome sustainable farm stay!
Stayed one night in our small camper with our two year old! We LOVED IT! She was very entertained by the kittens, goats, and chickens! The outdoor shower was amazing on a cool morning and overall a very cute and welcoming spot. Would for sure stay again.
A great campout at a working farm
We were greeted by Janett and her husband warmly and provided a walking tour of the 7 acre farm. There were several spots to choose from that offered different feels (tucked away in foliage, out in the open, close to the goats and chickens, near the bathroom...). We picked a spot that bordered foliage but offered an open field in front. The hosts made sure we had everything we needed including some great kiln dried firewood and even some bricks to create our own fire ring in front of our campsite. There’s a really nice communal field to this property. Including a communal fire pit patio and bathroom with running water. They were three friendly cats that popped up here and there to check things out and added to the fun of our stay. Overall it was a really unique and cool camping experience.
Excellent stay -- we arrived and Janett showed us around the property. We selected our spot, had a little fire, and enjoyed the night. Great for kids, families, or solo campers. We enjoyed seeing the goats and chickens and really enjoyed the farm fresh eggs that we bought while staying. Thank you!
Friendly and gracious hosts.
Camping was on the grounds an active ans unique community garden in the suburbs of St. Louis county. They are using permaculture principles to develop the property. I was warmly greeted by friendly and gracious hosts and they checked in with me a couple of times a day to ensure my needs were met. The toilet and shower area was clean and well maintained just be aware that the toilet/shower are rustic with plenty of fresh air. Electric outlet was convenient for a RV. Make sure you follow their instructions about where to drive and park so you don't go onto any soft ground. Although the area is not paved, I didn't have a problem with my class B RV even though there was a soaking rain during my stay.
